At Gulf Eye Center, we have a team of highly qualified Ophthalmologists (Medical Eye Doctors) and Optometrists (ODs) who have many years of experience in Ophthalmic and Optometric treatments and procedures plus have State-of-the-art equipment and the latest techniques – a combination that assures patients of comprehensive and professional eye care. Our patients range from Newborn to Middle and Senior ages - across the spectrum - for both Surgical and Non-Surgical eye care, including Laser Eye Surgery. Several Occupational Therapists and School Learning Support Departments seek our assistance with their Students’ & Patients’ various Visual Function needs. Orthokeratology for Myopia Control and Adult Vision correction has become a strong Treatment feature of our Practice over the last 5-6 years.
Gulf Eye Center offers a wide range of Myopia Control modalities, including Orthokeratology, to prevent the risk of having High Myopia-related sight-threatening conditions such as Retinal Detachment, Macular Degeneration, Posterior Sub Capsular Cataract and or Glaucoma.
Dr. Millicent Grim’s son is one of the first beneficiaries of this Myopia Control Treatment modality which controls Myopic progression and deterioration of vision, whilst giving shortsighted patients, both children and adults, daytime freedom from their eyeglasses or contact lenses, without any surgical procedure done on the eye.
Dr. Grim does various Eye Surgeries in Dubai, with procedures ranging from Squints / Strabismus repair to Tear Ducts to Eyelid repairs, and Vision Restoration, Vision Correction to Cataracts and even secondary lens Implants, to name but a few. She introduced Corneal Cross-Linking for Keratoconus into the UAE.

Dr. Millicent Grim
Dr. Millicent Grim is a Specialist Ophthalmologist who established the Gulf Eye Center in Dubai in 2002, following almost 6 year in Muscat, Oman, where she also set up the Eye Surgery Clinic of the first Full service Consultant based Private Hospital in The Sultanate of Oman.
Both of these positions had her introduce new treatment options in Private Medicine with Eye Surgeries not yet done before in both these countries.
Her Medical Career followed after Graduating in Medicine and Surgery in 1983 from the University Of Pretoria, South Africa. Internship training to qualify as General Practitioner was followed by Various Medical Officer Posts that took her through further Clinical experience in Obstetrics & Gyneacology, General Surgery, Paediatrics and Anaesthesiology.
She also obtained a Diploma in Tropical Medicine at University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
She Specialized in Ophthalmology at her Alma Mater, with a Masters in Ophthalmology in 1993 – about 25 years ago. She remained on the Teaching Staff to run the Eye Department at one of the Teaching Hospitals for 3 years.
Dr Grim worked as a Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist in Dunfermline in Scotland during 1996, before joining the first comprehensive Specialist Based Private Hospital in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. She established the first Private Eye Surgery Department in the country, introducing several new surgeries and treatment options in Private Medicine in the country for Vision Restoration and Correction.
After about 6 years she moved to Dubai to establish Gulf Eye Center in 2002.
Her patient base includes all age groups from infants to Middle Age to Seniors - for both Surgical and Non-Surgical eye care, including Laser Eye Surgery. Dr. Rana Daners
After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine in Damascus University, Dr. Rana did her Ophthalmology training in 1993. She completed her training courses at The American University of BEIRUT, Lebanon in 1997 and then worked as an Ophthalmologist in BEIRUT for 6 years, before moving to Dubai in 2003 .
During her training Dr. Rana focused on diagnosis and treatment of Glaucoma , Cataract , Uveitis, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, Dry eye syndrome, Ocular Allergies, Eye infections and Eyelid Disorders.
Dr. Rana spent more than 10 years also preparing patients for their Laser eye surgeries and then postop care, collaborating with visiting Surgeons from Europe. She is an experienced surgeon, performing Cataract extraction and Glaucoma surgical procedures. Her expertise includes diagnosis and treatment of patients with corneal disorders such as Keratoconus, assessment and treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy and Age-related Macular Degeneration as well as Retinal Detachment.
She speaks fluent Arabic, English and German.
Dr. Joserine Samson
Dr. Joserine Samson, Orthokeratologist at Gulf Eye Center is the First Fellow of British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) in the Middle East.
She has been practicing her field for more than 20 years now, fitting and designing Specialty Contact Lenses such as Corneal, Hybrid, Soft and Scleral Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) lenses for Keratoconus and other irregular corneas as well as high refractive errors, Prosthetic Contact Lenses, and fits contact lenses for pediatric (children) patients including those who had undergone cataract surgery without intra-ocular lens placement.
She also designs and fits Orthokeratology lenses, using it as one of the modalities to control the rapid progression of shortsightedness (Myopia) in her children patients. She is one of the passionate practitioners across the globe who tries to create awareness, control and manage progression of Myopia in children.
Part of her commitment in her field is giving lectures and trainings to fellow Optometrists and Ophthalmologists. She has given lectures in United Kingdom, South East Asia and in the Middle East. She is a proud member of American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control, British Contact Lens Association and Scleral Lens Education Society.
Dr. Jorina Fulgueras
Dr. Jorina Fulgueras studied Doctor of Optometry at Centro Escolar University. She passed both her licensure exam as an Optometrist and as a Nurse back in her home country. She has been practicing her field for 16 years, focusing on Refraction and Orthoptics.
Prior to joining Gulf Eye Center, she worked as an Optometrist level 1 at Vision Express, a franchise of one of the famous optical chains in United Kingdom. This makes her a strong team member supporting the practice in recommending the best ophthalmic lens options available in the market, depending on our patients’ individual eye care & Vision needs.
She is very passionate about improving and helping the eye condition of her patients and ensures that they receive the highest level of care available.
