Hiring a Sri Lankan Maid - What You Need to Know

Many more people are hiring Sri Lankan household help, in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and there have been loads of questions about the nature of the labour contracts so we went to the Consulate General of Sri Lanka to get you all the information that you will need if you want to hire a maid from Sri Lanka.

We all want to get along with the staff living in our households and the best way to do that is to get started off on the right foot by following the correct procedures prescribed by the Sri Lankan Consulate. 

Labour Contracts

Information on Labour Contracts for Sri Lankan Skilled/Unskilled workforce:

Domestic Workers Recruitment by Private Sponsors

After applying for original UAE visa from the immigration, sponsor is required to get the labour contract attested by the Consulate General Office in order to bring the said worker to UAE.

Documents required

  1. Sponsor's passport copy.
  2. Domestic Worker's passport copy.
  3. Duly filled contract form with the sponsor's signature.
  4. Original visa and two photocopies thereof.
  5. Fees Dhs 185/-
  6. Deposit of 3675 Dhs by the sponsor for domestic female workers only. This deposit is refundable on termination of the contract of Sri Lankan Domestic worker subject to conditions mentioned in the contract.

Office timings for Attestation is 8.30 a.m to 1.00 p.m

After applying for original UAE visa from the immigration, agent is required to get the labour contract attested by the Consulate General Office in order to bring the said worker to UAE.

Hiring a Sri Lankan maid in Dubai

Company workers (Skilled /Unskilled) recruitment by Private Sponsors

After applying for original visa from immigration, company must get the labour contract attested by the Consulate in order to bring the said worker to UAE.

Documents required

  1. Company license copy.
  2. Worker's passport copy.
  3. Duly filled contract form with the authorized signature and company stamp.
  4. Original visa and two photocopies thereof.
  5. Fees Dhs 255/-

Office timings for Attestation is 8.30 a.m to 1.00 p.m

Company workers recruitment by Agencies

After applying for original visa from immigration, company must get the labour contract attested by the Consulate in order to bring the said worker to UAE.

Documents required

  1. Company license copy.
  2. Worker's passport copy.
  3. Duly filled contract form with the authorized signature and company stamp.
  4. Original visa and two photocopies thereof.
  5. Fees Dhs 130/-

Office timings for Attestation is 8.30 a.m to 1.00 p.m

Registration of Foreign Agencies and Companies

Registration is required in the Consulate General Office before the job order attestation for Sri Lankan Migrant workers.

Documents required

  1. Duly filled registration forms with the authorized signature.
  2. Certified copy of business registration issued by the relevant authorities.
  3. Credibility report issued by the Chamber of Commerce or any other UAE authority regarding the business entity.
  4. Documents in support of financial stability of the organization.
  5. Copy of office plan and map of location of the organization.
  6. Pass port copy of authorized persons of the company.
  7. Fees Dhs 130/-
  8. This registration is valid only for 1 year.

Office timings for Attestation is 8.30 a.m to 1.00 p.m

Job order approvals

Registration is required in the  Consulate General Office before the job order attestation for Sri Lankan Migrant workers.

Documents required

  1. Demand letter in the company letter head with date, address, employment categories, number of vacancies, basic salary, air passage, food, and accommodation and other terms and condition.
  2. Power of attorney in the company letter head.
  3. Agreement in the company letter head.
  4. Fees Dhs 390/-
  5. Documents are valid only for one year, and companies are required to renew their job orders thereafter.
