Insure Your Maid: It's The Law!

With the implementation of the mandatory health insurance Law in Dubai (Law No. 11 of 2013 concerning Health Insurance in the Emirate of Dubai) all members who hold a valid residence permit issued by Dubai need to have health insurance coverage throughout the period of residency.

Since we are now in the final phase of implementation, all individuals sponsoring domestic helpers need to ensure they provide health insurance coverage to their staff before the 30th of June 2016. Sponsors failing to source insurance cover will be penalized with a fine of AED 500 per employee for every month of delay. However, the imposition of fines for domestic helpers will be delayed until beginning of next year.
