Residents of Palm Jumeirah are often vocal about living on the recognisable man-made island.

The island itself is littered with outdoor gym facilities and running tracks – plus it’s a super dog-friendly place to live, with several restaurants and amenities inviting pets to join their owners when going about their daily errands.

Weather-permitting, life within Palm Jumeirah itselfcertainly embraces an outdoor, pedestrian lifestyle. Although, if you wish to venture to other areas of Dubai – having a car is a must.

Thankfully, with recent upgrades to traffic lights and systems throughout, this traffic has become much better.

Palm Jumeirah by day

During the day, you’ll find families and professionals going about their daily routine; most residents may work on or very close to Palm Jumeirah – in areas like Dubai Media City or Dubai Marina – and so expect general traffic during peak hours.

Families appreciate the children’s play areas and the safe environment that Palm Jumeirah offers, and it’s not uncommon to see women and children enjoying the outdoor spaces, amenities and facilities in the Palm Jumeirah’s communities.

There’s an extensive list of shops, restaurants and cafes that are available within a few minutes’ walk of a lot of the buildings along Palm Jumeirah’s Trunk.

And if you don’t feel like venturing out, plenty of delivery services are available – groceries and laundry being the most useful – and they arrive quickly due to the close proximity of them on the island.

Palm Jumeirah by night

As dusk arrives, Palm Jumeirah may get ever so slightly busier as residents return home from work during peak hours. Residents may venture out for a stroll along the Palm Jumeirah boardwalk with their children or dog.

For evening entertainment throughout the working week, Palm Jumeirah is a go-to place for Dubai residents from elsewhere to head to for an evening meal or drinks with friends.

Thanks to locations such as Club Vista Mare and Oceana Beach Club, Dubai residents are able to relax on an evening and enjoy the beach-side views – most are dog-friendly, too!

On weekends and during cooler months, bear in mind that tourists tend to flock to the island for evening entertainment at any one of the luxury hotels located here – and it’s a popular place for Friday brunches amongst residents.

Who lives in Palm Jumeirah?

  • High-earning professionals with families
  • Wealthy second-home residents
  • Singles and young professionals
  • Those who enjoy beach-living

For the rich and famous, Palm Jumeirah offers an exclusive community that is now a popular place for second-home residences that promote privacy and tranquillity amidst seaside-living. The island’s 16 Fronds consist of various sized homes that attract high-earning families who seek private living.

On the other hand, young professionals and small families opt for the apartments available along the island’s Trunk that are much more affordable.

While there are affordable options for rent, the prices are still considered high in comparison to other Dubai areas – and so the high(er) rental prices may only appeal to those who are committed to the bach-front lifestyle Palm Jumeirah offers.

What are properties like in Palm Jumeirah?

Properties available on Palm Jumeirah vary from studio apartments through to huge, 7+ bedroom villas.

The Trunk offers luxurious apartment living with the Golden Mile and Shoreline developments. There is also mini-developments like Marina Residences, Tiara and Oceana that offer high-rise communities with 1 to 4 bedroom apartment options. Other options include Palma Residences, IGY Anchor Marina and The Fairmont Palm Residences.

On the Fronds, villas vary wildly in design and by size and feature Garden Homes, Signature Villas and Town Houses. Residents can choose from smaller 2 bedroom units to the larger, opulent mansions with their own beach access. All Fronds have their own individual security post at the entrance.

In terms of access to the island, if you asked residents whether Palm Jumeirah was a great place to live a few years ago, you’d probably have been told tales of horror traffic and continuous construction.

Now, if you ask the same question – you’d probably receive similar answers. Nowadays though, the Palm Jumeirah is certainly improving traffic chaos for its residents.

With the upcoming addition of Nakheel Mall and the recently completed The Pointe, combined with the upgrade of the island’s traffic lights and road structure - life on this island is now a far cry from its older reputation of being impossible to get on and off.

What are noise levels like in Palm Jumeirah?

For those living in the Fronds, expect a quieter, serene atmosphere as these areas of the community offer privacy and tranquillity to residents.

The majority of crowds head to the Crescent where Atlantis The Palm and its neighbouring hotels are situated. There’s few luxury hotels along the Trunk itself, including the FIVE hotel, but these are snug between the high-rise apartment buildings.

When it comes to noise, construction sites are probably the worst culprit of noise for residents living here; but provisions are in place by authorities to ensure these noise levels are kept restricted after sunset as per the UAE law.
