If you're searching for the perfect Balinese massage in Dubai to enjoy with you and a girlfriend, you're in luck... As one of our very own team has tried and tested the Balinese massage at Soul Wellness and Spa at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Dubai for you! Read on to see the verdict by EW's Lizan...

My friend and I were invited to enjoy the Sheraton Grand Hotel’s Wednesday Ladies Day at Soul Wellness & Spa. The package included a 60-minute Balinese Massage, a glass of prossecco and chocolates for you and your bestie!

Angela and I met at the spa on Wednesday night after work excited for the evening that awaited us. When I arrived at the hotel, the guys from the valet took my car and I headed up to the spa. The spa is located on the 52nd floor of the hotel. As soon as the doors open, you walk into a tranquil open space with the spa reception with a friendly face to greet you. We were received a welcome drink while completing a quick form for the massage and then headed off to the changing rooms.

The spa has an amazing ambiance with candles and dimmed lights lighting the way to the changing and treatment rooms. In the changing room, they have lockers with a passcode rather than having a key that you need to worry about. The receptionist showed us how to use the lockers and introduced us to our therapists, Ayu and Kemi, and then left us to change. Shortly after our therapists came to fetch us and off we went to our treatment rooms.

The treatment room had relaxing meditation music playing with the lights dimmed – exactly what you need for an evening of relaxation. The treatment started with my therapist, Ayu, washing my feet. Ayu is really friendly and easy to talk to. We had a really nice conversation while she was busy. Thereafter, I got out of my gown, laid on the bed and was covered with a towel. After confirming that I am comfortable, Ayu started with my back. I opted for a medium massage and it was perfect. I quickly started to unwind and with the dimmed lights, relaxing music and Ayu massaging me, all the thoughts of work and life just drifted away.

Ayu gently moved my arms as she required them without disturbing me. After my back and arms, she covered my back and moved down to my legs and feet. I haven’t had such a great foot massage in ages! Thereafter, she almost whispering asked me to turn around. Laying on my back, she gave me a pillow for my head and adjusted the towel. Then she started with my neck and head. She knew exactly just how much pressure to place where on my body.

The massage felt so good, that I was actually disappointed when it came to an end! After finishing she asked me what I would like to drink and left me to enjoy the serenity of the room while going to prepare my tea. I really enjoyed the lights in the room and thought it was a thoughtful touch to make the roof appear light the night sky out in the dessert without any lights around.

Soon I was led to the relaxation area where my friend was busy meditating. My tea was already waiting for me in a chair that looked extremely welcoming. Along with the massage, we receive a free 10-minute guided meditation session. Ayu helped me put the earphones on and I was led with a calm male voice. I’ve tried a number of meditation tapes before and have never really found one that really works for me. Maybe it was because I was already relaxed, but either way, I was really impressed with the meditation program that they used.

After both Angela and I finished our meditation session, we enjoyed our tea and a complimentary glass of nuts and dried cranberries. The view from the relaxation room is really breath-taking. We sat there for a while enjoying the tea, each other’s company and the view until they came to fetch us again. We went to get changed and went back to the waiting area at the reception where we each enjoyed a glass of prosecco and dark chocolate. We also really enjoyed the book selection that they have in the waiting area and quickly filled up our reading list with new titles.

As the night came to an end, we validated our valet tickets at the spa reception and went to get our cars. This was the first time in a while that I went for a massage and I couldn’t have asked for better. It is just what I needed to unwind from life and work and on top of that I got to share the night with one of my really close friends. If you are looking for ideas for a girls night out, then I would definitely recommend going to the Sheraton Grand Hotel’s spa.

The package is reasonably priced at AED 600 for two ladies and is definitely worth every last fil!
