Hi guys.. I am struggling to find a map of the bus route for Abu Dhabi which includes the routes in and around and from Khalifa City A. I have found a map but Khalifa City A is off the map - only shows in city stops. I stay in Al Raha Gardens and have seen buses around the area often so I know that there are. -Really just need a good map of where all the stops are and where the buses go to and what time they stop etc. Please help... any info would be appreciated! Also does anyone have the numbers of cheap cabs? I hear that there are some affordable ones - Ive only used pricey ones so far which I can't really afford...

Thanks ;)

right; 160 comes along past the firestation and up to the pink shops and along to teddy bears nursery which is the first r/a on 16th and then along down to the adnoc. you need the 170 that comes same way past firestation but then goes up 15th st where chouefiat is and along to HCT and then back up to raha school r/a/police station and along down raha gardens up to etihad plaza and right into masdar well thats what i believe it does from the map

ok ok ok... tho i appreciate everyones help i am beyond confused to say the least!!! it took me ages to figure out that bus timetable thing...wat a pain. it states that the Khalifa city A bus is 160... and apparently the only pickup spots are at the pink shops and sumwhere els close to where the lil boy that i nanny goes to school (teddy bears) as i said im VERY new to the area... so if anyone could give me sum clear idea as to wat times and which buses (if its not 160) goes past al raha gardens? im staying in the last villa on the right in al raha gardens... opposite masreq... you can get to it most easily thru gate 12 but also thru gate 13. i want to get to al waddah mall 2mrw morn around 10 30 ish. where should i go and wat time??? PLZ HELP!!! :( http://www.ojra.ae/media/Bus_Service_timetable_Nov_2010.pdf to get to wadha mall well the bus station as thats where they all go which is next door, in order to get to there at around 10.30 ish you would need to catch the 170 at 9.51 from the commercial centre/16th, so to me that is the end of the road where the SEHA is near to the pink shops, but you will get on the bus a bit further down, so you would need to perhaps be there like 1 or 2 mins before that as its a little before that. i would say there would be a bus stop around the masreq bank area, usually they have A and B stops in each block. if 10.37 is too late then you just go an hour earlier ie 8.51 gets you there at 9.37. the 160 does not go down the rest of raha gardens it goes down towards adnoc. but if you are at the pink shops it would be there at 9.29 to get to bus station at 10.12

I sometimes take the bus from KCA. The schedule says it runs every half hour which is a bold lie since it only runs every hour. The driver sometimes stops the bus to pray... All in all it takes over an hour to makes it to the central bus station in Abu Dhabi. Last week I gave up waiting because of excessive heat. I try to be "green" but let's face it. This is a desert and no-one should be outside between 10 am and 4 pm. I will be taking taxis or hubby's car until October to say the least. which bus are you getting on as if its the 160 the frequency is 60 mins up to 1520 then upto 2050 it goes 30 mins and after that then its 60 again. the 170 is 60 mins too all day if its the 290 its 60 up to 1710 then 30 up to 2040 and then goes back to 60 mins again. so if i am reading the timetable correctly yes its mostly 60 mins frequency. and yes they do sometimes stop at the checkpoint to pray afterall I think it is the 160 bus. I was taking it about 2-3 weekly during the cool months and I whenever I've missed it I've had to wait an hour (this is when I've missed the bus by mere minutes). The bus goes by my stop 20 minutes after the hour (I am at the beginning of the route). I have taken the bus at different times of the day, but mostly the 3:20pm, 4:20pm and 5:20 pm (I took the 6:20pm once) and it still only comes once an hour. I have to say that by the time the hour is up there are so many people waiting for the bus that it fills up very quickly and many times the driver has to drive past bus stops without stopping because it filled up at the beginning leaving many passengers stranger for yet another hour. On the plus side the bus drivers are very polite. I am quite patient but my 4 yo doesn't appreciate waiting by a dusty road (sigh). So much for being green. edited by eli19 on 30/05/2011 yes the buses are 60 mins frequency most of the day, but once you know when the bus comes its usually near to that time, but yes i have missed them when i have been running and they will not stop as they then say it messes up the timetable! but i want to get them to try and at least change the frequency on the ones that i use as they go down the same streets for the middle section and they all come the same time!

No idea which way it goes, there are timetables and maps on the bus stops. We passed a bus going out of the compound on Thursday evening at about 7 and it was full.

I will be taking taxis or hubby's car until October to say the least. the bus from school airport road/19th runs every 30 mins and they run to time there are 3 buses we can catch 402 and 405 they run similar times and then branch out further off island, and then there is the 150 but they do run quite close to the timings, what annoys me and i will go in and try and get them to realise that there are 3 buses that go along the same route until they branch out like to baniyas or wathba etc and they all come within 5 mins of each other so if you miss one you usually miss all of them, if they run them at 10 mins between then you could have a chance of catching them and not having to wait too long. i find the bus service from my house is so much better than kca. the bus only takes about 10 mins longer than driving, as it depends on where it stops and it goes a more wiggly route

my oldest boy once a week gets the bus home from school and we have used them many a time just so that the kids can get used to public transport and not rely totally on mums taxi all the time.

there are two types of cabs, the new silver ones, and the older gold and white, there arent many of those around now as they are being phased out. the buses runs like every 20/30 mins but you need to guess when the times are at your area, because the timetable only give the timings for various major points along the route.

quite often there are dedicated bus stops in town, but when you are driving down the mains motorways there are no stops or they will pull off the road at the police check point etc if you are driving down mussafah road, when there are no stops you can just hail them down.

here is the link, yes they are difficult to find the right info http://www.ojra.ae/routing.htm i use the buses all the time, if they come within walking distance then fine, otherwise they will not suit everyone, kca there are 3 buses one that go along raha gardens, i think that one is the 290 that goes to yas island, then depending on what part of raha gardens you have the 170 which goes to masdar then you have the 160 which goes to the adnoc.
