Hello I also missed Expat woman when I left Dubai. I now use http://www.expatforum.com/ perhaps not quite as good but I registered and posted a number of times on the Cyprus forum and always get a response. Select Italy from countries on right and registration to forum is free. All the best.

Thank you very much for your replies. I am disappointed to hear that probably cannot use Etihad shuttle and pay. Have never used Careem or Uber. Uber do not have great reputation in some countries. Any idea what they charge from airport to Dubai Marina? How does one contact them?

Would like to spend two weeks at Christmas in Dubai. There will be up to 9 of us - 6 adults and 3 children aged, 14, 7 and 6. Ideally would like a reasonably priced deal either in resort or self catering. Any suggestions where to start looking please?

Many thanks - central London or even a little further, quite flexible. Have heard of Headmasters but never tried them. Thank you again.

Best I have found without side effects is Dr Stuart's Lax Plus. I have bought it at Lulu or online from Amazon.co.uk. It's excellent.

Go with an open mind and you will be fine. For houses to rent or buy go the website: rightmove - you can search area and specify number of bedrooms and price range. Regarding schools again do your research - inspection reports should be on line or check out exam results, if secondary schools. There are excellent state schools and rubbish ones. You may want to stay in hotel or short term let until you decided about schools. I would sell appliances and furniture - as much as possible really and replace them in UK - but that's just my opinion. Where will your husband be working? Surely that will determine where you live?

I think Arabian Ranches. I m sure we can sort out a venue - Dubai is not that huge! I' m delighted that you are interested and Sept sounds great. Evening would suit me as I work although there is always the weekend too. I m trying the Talise one this evening and I think there is a course in another place on Al Wasl but somehow feel a free gathering is more in the spirit of it.

My husband suffered from roceacea and Dr Simin treated him with antibiotics - not sure what exactly but they were strong and he had to take a long course. They worked, however.

Has anyone had bunion surgery in Dubai? Where and how much, how was it? I m worried about recovery time. I have tried everything to put off the evil hour ( injections, physio, special insoles) but nothing works. Foot swells and aches even if don't walk much. Did your insurance pay? Many thanks

I swear by Naramig - prescribed originally in Uk but available in chemists here without prescription. Try to catch it early rather than hope it will pass!

Love Cyprus in spring, especially Akamas area in north west depending on how young are the children - Aphrodite Beach Hotel is reasonably priced or if money no object, Anassa!

I am a real tea drinker and have found the best selection in the tea shop at Madinat Jumeirah Souk. They have a variety of strainers and my favourite now is 'tea bags' that you fill yourself - work a treat with green tea and chai for one!

I have tried Ted Morgan but prefer Version Francaise in the Marina. Karine, the owner is excellent and again listens. They are away now until mid August however.

Look also at the Marina where appt tend to be bigger. Torch, I hear from friends, has more space and better finishes than anything they saw downtown. Also from some developments can use the metro easily.

I have used Ready Maids for about 5 years - they have been reliable but would not recommend them wholeheartedly as the cleaning is rushed and superficial. However, I work full time and need some help in the house. They do basics which keeps us going but often considered finding someone better. The one time I did change and offered work to a girl who contacted me in our development, the experience was worse so have stuck to RMs.

The degrees are from UK. I heard that there are agencies that do the whole process for a fee. Otherwise it is Foreign Office in Milton Keynes, UAE emabssy in London and then Ministry in Dubai. I have time to do it the slow way! Want to know if anyone has used this type of agancy.

I wish you could be right! I would love to have my things back, even if not all of them. He was very quick the first time. He came back the very next day and this time he is not answering calls or texts messages. The last text message was over two weeks ago when he said he would come the following evening but did not arrive. I think the lesson I have learned is to ask for ID, and not to tip generously - it's a pity in a way.

Tailor - yes thank you for pointing out the error of my ways! I did talk about items of clothing and alterations... It would be helpful if anyone has any information - he may have left the country or I suspect he has damaged one of the items and does not want to admit it ...? Anyway do be cautious.

I pay 35 DHs an hour to a cleaning agency that I use twice a week, plus tip for the girls who come. How much does anyone else pay and who do you use? I would like to change, not so much for the cost although they seem expensive, but never get to me on time. Would you trust them with a key? I work therefore they must work unsupervised most of the time. Many thanks

Cyprus has lovely weather in April and the countryside is glorious then. Very friendly and helpful with babies. As for resorts, it does depend what you like and what want to spend. There is a wide range. Our favourite place is Anassa, Paphos district but it is pricey. There are other, very good options that are much cheaper and closer to airports.
