Thanks for the offer Shellly, you're very good. I stocked up when I was home so I'm sorted. I found them really good when DS got his first teeth last week. xx

Hi Ladies, I just wanted to share - had a great night with DS last night. He slept for almost 7 hours. I couldn't believe it when I woke up at 2.45am instead of every hour or two. This is one of the best continuos periods of sleep that he has had since birth. He had been sleeping anything from 5 to 7 hours in one go before we travelled home to Ireland at the beginning of July. Since then, it's been every couple of hours looking for a feed. So, what did we do different???? Well, one of my friends gave me great advice including putting LO down a little earlier and I think that was great. Then I saw an old thread here where Dubaicat explained how she had been with Cecile when her 7 month old son hadn't been sleeping well. The night before last we went the same route as DubaiCat had. We put DS into his cot. (I had been nursing/feeding him to sleep since we went home in July). He screamed blue murder but we knew that he wasn't hungry, sore, sick, too hot, too cold etc. We did everything that we could to settle him except pick him up or feed him. I sang to him, danced, held his hand, leaned over into the cot and put my face next to his etc. DH and I took shifts of 15 minutes each. After 30 minutes he fell asleep. DS would usually wake up every 30 minutes to an hour for the first 3 or 4 hours after being fed to sleep. The first night we put him in his cot, he went down for 3 hours 45 minutes, the second night (last night), he slept for 6 hours 45 minutes. I don't think we have it sorted by any means, but its a start. Here's hoping that he does the same tonight. It might not work for everyone but it gave us 2 of the best nights sleep that we've had in 2 months. I'm not a fan of CIO method but by being there with our LO, I was happy that he knew we were there and were able to comfort him. sparkly, our day time naps are all over the place so once we have a handle on putting DS down at night, we're going to work on the day time naps so I can't help you out there. redleaf - will send you a mail later today. Would love to meet up.

Ouch Pingu that sounds tough, hope you get a good nights rest.. Our LO is still waking at night a fair bit.. Naps are good when she is not overtired but she has smelly wee lately, I'm worried it might be UTI so just keeping an eye on her. Anyone having difficulty with the last nap of the day?? I have no idea what to do with it.. Today bubs was in her cott singing and squawking and squealing for at least 15-20 minutes even though she was rubbing her eyes like mad before I put her down. Everytime I went in she was showing tired signs but just kept singing when I left the room. So when I lay next to her she slept... Problem is the nap just gets so late that it's almost time to get ready for bed at 7pm! She gets about 3h45m in naps per day so I don't think she is getting too much.. Any thoughts?!

I feel your pain with the teething Pingu! LO is waking so frequently to nurse. Back to work tomorrow!!! Agh!!! Went with my second choice of nanny who was luckily still available and everything seems to be going great. She is great with her; so patient and gentle. I'm currently hiding down in my bedroom to give her some space. Have spent the past few days staying out of living room and going out for a couple of hours at a time to get used to it. Hard to gauge exactly how much milk to leave as I plan to pump in work but it looks like 3-4 ozs every 2-3 hours. Have been pumping for the last few days to have plenty just in case. Feeling nervous going back but am going to just take each day as it comes. I have the number of another nanny I liked if anyone is looking at the moment. I know she is still looking. Cannot vouch for her personally but seemed nice in interview. Hope all u other March mums get some sleep soon! Think I will have to go to bed now to be ready for tomorrow!! Lol xx

Hi Pingu, I don't envy you with the teething! DS's first two teeth came through over the weekend. He also got his 6 month vaccinations on Thursday so all in all, not a good weekend for the little guy. He's in better form today but is hoarse from crying/screaming. It was awful to listen to his little voice squeaking when we couldn't cry out or call us properly. Oh, and we're still waking every couple of hours at night. I think tonight is the night to get serious putting him down to sleep. It took almost 4 hours to put him down on Thursday night. Gingercat, did you get your nanny sorted? I'm back to work in October so trying to get sorted now too. Bee

Gingercat, sorry to hear about your nanny woes. When I was looking for mine, out of 10 interviews only 3 bothered to show up. Most didn't even call or text to say they weren't coming. Good luck and hope you find a good one soon. I would also like to meet up with other march mummies and babies :)

Pingu I feel your pain...I am back to work next week...agh!!!! And to top it all off....was interviewing nannies all last week...found a lovely one, great references which checked out...had a trial with her last week which went brilliantly. We agreed a salary and she was to start this morning...then 30 mins before she was due to turn up I get a text saying another family offered her more money. I reply and say I will talk about it when she comes at 10 am as planned. She replies and says she doesn't know whether to come or not. I call her immediately and she refuses to answer the phone. She eventually answers and says she is not coming and that she is taking the other job. I am so annoyed and upset as she didn't even give me a chance to offer her more money and had already said she would take the job...Back to the drawing board....really don't need this stress a week before I go back to work.....

Hi ladies Me too me too! My little one has been waking 3-4 times a night since 4 months and it is exhausting. We are still in Canada for the summer and at first I thought it was jet lag, but then it went on and on! At the moment her pattern is wake at 10:30, then 2 ish, then 4ish and then can wake up anywhere from 6 to 7:30. She was a better sleeper at the newborn stage! She turned 5 months on the 12th. I wonder how long this mega growth spurt lasts???! But she is just gorgeous and doing so well, I shouldn't complain. :)

Livgian and gingercat, your LO's timings sound very similar to mine at the moment. It used to be that whenever DS woke up at night, he would go straight back to sleep after nursing but the past week, it was more difficult to settle him during the night. Last night he went back to going straight back down after a little feed so hopefully he will do the same tonight (or better still sleep right through LOL). Gingercat, I've also been working on DS's day time naps as we had no real routine there due to a lot of travelling from the time he was 3 months. I'm hoping this will help his night routine too. I guess it will all come together at some point in time. FIngers crossed for a good sleep tonight ladies. Giti, I'm glad that your son has been sleeping a bit better. Feeding every hour is tough!

Hey guys, I too am in the same predicament. My son turned 5 months on Saturday. His waking hours went bonkers at 4 months. But when I read about it they say babies go through a growth spurt at 4 months. He seems to be going back to a normal 2 hour feeding as opposed to hourly. 2 bites ago I gave him his feed at 11:30pm and then he woke literally 45mins later. I gave him his bottle which he didn't want. When I put him back to sleep I made sure I covered him up to his waist. He didn't wake until 4am!! Bingo, the poor thing has been waking because he is hot! I must admit the last 2 notes have been better and he now wakes up at 825as opposed to anywhere btw 5:30&6am!

Hellooooo Same here Ladies, almost exactly the same wake up times here!! DD was sleeping 7 till 2am at three months. Then up at 4 and 6:30. She started waking back up at 11pm at four months and now (I think due to an prayers at 9:30 ish as we live near a lot of mosques) she has been waking around then for the last month. We are getting max 4 hours in one stretch but mostly 2.5 to 3 hours.... I feel less alone now!! There is another thread about 5 mth old naps only 30 minutes by another march mumma and I posted on there about how I am working on DD naps. They are improving and since then I have noticed her night sleeps are also improving in length and are becoming more predictable however it's a slow process I'm sure. Hoping that the prayers were responsible for that first waking and that will stop.. We also haven't started solids yet. Next meetup we'll have to get you all to come along!! edited by sparkly on 19/08/2012

Livgian I feel your pain. Last night was sleep at 9.05pm, awake at 10.05pm for a quick feed, then asleep until 12.30am for another quick feed, another one at 4.30am, 5.30am and awake for the day at 6.30am. Of course I probably wouldn't feel so bad if I had gone to bed early instead of watching a silly film until almost midnight....what was I thinking?!!

Hey guys. I've never posted in this thread before but I too have a march baby. I'm still waiting for this magical "sleep through the night" moment. My daughter goes down at 1900 and wakes for a feed at 2300, 0230, 0430 and is up at 0630... I think she is also teething as is drooling, making everything wet and gumming everything she can get her hands on. I'll be thinking of you ladies as I'm up feeding in the early hours of the morning :)

Thanks for the reply gingercat, it's good to know I'm not the only one who was lulled into a false sense of security thinking that I had a dream sleeper. (Not that I'm glad you're having sleepless nights or anything :-)). I hadn't really considered teething. My LO has been dribbling and drooling since 3 months old and for the past month has been chewing his hands and fingers. Maybe we're going to have an appearance of a little pearly white soon. My hope for tonight is to have 4 hours sleep in a row. Fingers crossed...

Bee my LO is the exact same for the past 2 months. She tricked me into thinking she was a great little sleeper. I think it is because she is teething at the moment and wakes up to nurse as it soothes her gums. We haven't started solids yet. I've been nursing her to sleep at around 9pm for the past week since I've come back and pop her straight into the buggy when she goes to sleep. She slept in it until 2.30am last night which was amazing!! Almost made up tor the 4.00am...4.30am and 6am waking ;)

I'm really glad to see this thread re-surface. I hadn't posted on it before but did occasionally read it as I was due at the end of March 2012. DS came early in February and I was working throughout the pregnancy so didn't get much time to post. I'd be really interested in meeting up with some March Mums if you are meeting up again. Also, I'm just wondering if any of you have had trouble with your LO's sleep? DS is almost 6 months now and for the past 6 or 7 weeks has been waking up to nurse every 2 to 3 hours and sometimes every hour. He had been sleeping some nights between 5 and 7 hours before this. He was exclusively BF until we introduced solids about 3 weeks ago. I'm not sure if it's sleep regression or just something that happens all babies. We travelled to Ireland in early July and are back just over a week. The pattern developed in Ireland and has continued since we came back. I understand it could be jet lag but if it is just a habit that he developed as he needed extra cuddles because his routine was all over the place, how can I help him get back to sleeping at least 4 hours at a time? I'm not a fan of the cry it out method and have tried pick up/out down but he just screams till he is literally blue in the face when I put him down. Any advice would be greatly appreciated....even if it's just to know that other mums of 6 month olds are going through something like this.

Congratulations Eli1979, hope everything is going great for you x Gingercat, there are about 6 or 7 march mummies that have met up a few times but not for the past couple of months since some are on holidays. Hopefully we will all meet up again soon, you should come along!! The heat has been tough to find things to do. DD is also teething :-/ I bought her sophie too, she loves it! I work also but only a few shifts. I fall behind on my frozen milk stockpile if I am away from bubs too many times per week. Hope you have a good stockpile and if you can't pump what your LO takes in the time you are away, pump once very morning while they are napping to make up for it. I had to do the same during a busy month. I also had to pump once a night as I was nearly down to nothing. Otherwise, I think DD has developed a preference for milk before bed, not that I encouraged that at all. She's rolling over in her sleep too, so no more swaddling and getting to sleep is messy at the moment!!

Hi Ladies. I'm just back a week in Dubai. Wow...did not miss that heat!! My LO is 5 months old and going through the joys of teething! Got Sophie the Giraffe which she seems to really like though. She was sleeping well at night for the first three months but not so good now...think it is her teeth. Still breastfeeding but returning to work in a couple of weeks so not sure how it will go. Hoping to continue breastfeeding until she is a year old but we will see.She will take expressed milk from a bottle so I hope she will continue to do so when I go back to work. She has been drinking a bottle of expressed milk a week since she was 8 weeks old and seems to be okay with it. I am using Breastflow bottles. Planning to pump in work but don't know when I will get the time! How are all the March mums doing?? xx

That's great that u went to see her. Am waiting on test results from a poop sample of DS2 they think most of the issues I'm having with him relate to lactose intolerance as well as colic and reflux! Blahhhhhhh. Should get results soon. I'm keen. Tanya is away for the weekend (if kiddies got better) but I'm sure we can arrange something soon. Hope everyone is good xox
