Hi Penny/Muurtje, I have just moved to Dubai from the UK and have a puppy German shepherd (6 months old). We used to take her to socialisation classes at home and she just loves to play with other dogs. Have you managed to arrange a play date yet??? If so, are other dogs welcome?? :) If you haven't, I'm just about to move to the Jumeirah Village Triangle and they have fairly large gardens there, so i would be happy to host a play date. Hope to speak to you both soon.. Nicola Hi Nicola I've got a 6month old lab puppy and live fairly close - if you want to contact me email me on kim dot dubaigirl at gmail dot com I've also met up with another lady in JVT for a doggy date so we could maybe all get together - she works daytimes though which are easier for me. And welcome to Dubai! Kim

I'm based just off the Emirates road in Dubai so I'm pretty flexible and could travel no problem to a desired location. Thank you, I'm really enjoying it!

Hi, I'm a responsible 16 year old dog lover and for my Duke of Edinburgh community service I would love to dog walk for people and make life easier for people whilst helping a dog get the exercise they deserve. If anyone is interested please respond Thank you Hi Kirsten, Where are you based? Good for you doing the Duke of Edinburgh award!

Well Primus did very well at the kennels and played really well with some golden retrievers. I still think he will not be good with small dogs - would just worry that he would accidentally hurt them. I am available some mornings and am home most afternoons with the kids. I can do some weekends too. Let me know if anyone wants to meet up and try a playdate. Like I said we have a big yard (about 15,000sqf in Al Barsha) and happy to meet here - I have no idea if Primus will be territorial. He wasn't previously but that was a while ago. My email is pennygoudge at hotmail dot com

Did you ever meet up for dog off the lead playtime? I'd love to join. I have a very playful and energetic dalmatian who needs more socialising with other dogs. He isn't good with very small and yappy dogs, but he loves most others. We're in Al Sufouh and can do evenings or weekends only. Let me know if anybody wants to give it a go.

PennyF and champagneblond, Indy and I would love to have a little play date in the new year. Or maybe we can take them for a group walk. I am in Saheel 1. Lets keep in touch and see if we can meet up and let the puppies play! :)

Sorry, I haven't checked this in a while. I am keen to do these playdates at mine and AR. I am away for Chrissy holidays but once we get back can work something out. Our German Shepherd is in the kennel while we are gone, so am using this as a good judge for his social skills. As much as he is friendly he doesn't get any socialization so I still always worry if he will behave. If I get a good report after these two weeks it would be nice to finally find regular dogs for him to play with.

We are in AR & I have a Pointer (33kg) & a Shih Tzu (6kg)- The Odd Couple! Who would love a social session! Not too many friendly dogs in the neighbourhood, I'm afraid!

Hi Pricey, I had one guy who would do it, but everytime I needed him he would be away and the last time he made me cancel my trip to the vet (checkup) because he didn't show up when I booked him. He kept saying I'm on my way but never came. Very annoying!

Hi I am also up for a doggy play date. I have a 7 month year old lab who is very playful. He occasionally gets to play with two dachshunds but they are a lot smaller then he is and I would like him to also play with some bigger dogs. I live in AR but don't drive so the only problem is I can't come to you as taxis and dogs do not go together! I hope you won't find this too far. I also live behind a park an although it if officially not allowed many people let their dogs off the lead when walking them. You just have to watch out for others dogs and petrified gardeners :) E-mail met at dubaimuurtje at gmail dot com Some taxis will take you:-) You just have to find a nice one and save his number!

Sandstar we have a big garden in Al Barsha 3 with a 2yr old German Shepherd. He is friendly but most people put off by his size and breed so he doesn't get much playtime. Let me know if interested.

I've always had to travel between 5 & 20 minutes by car to get to a place where my pup can run and chase and sniff without worrying about bothering other people (or being bothered by other people). I don't know about your situation but suggest you drive around a bit to find a place where pup can run. I go out at 0500 hrs in order to do so. This is usually - in my experience - something you canot accomplish even as "late" as 0700 hrs. This is an early hours commitment. edited by marycatherine on 06/11/2011

We used to take our dog out into the desert five mins from home (Mirdif at the time). We'd always go early on Friday morning, before anyone else was about, and have the whole place to ourselves. Pop a blanket down, eat portable breakfast with the children and watch the dog sniff and have a ball. As long as you are far from anyone else and have recall control over your dog, the desert is a wonderful playground. :)

Any up to date info on where we CAN safely walk our dogs and even - shock and horror- let them off lead? I am running out of every option and my poor golden retreiver is asking me to post for her. Anyone with a big garden and a friendly, but lonely, dog happy to host a play date? Um Suqueim/ Jumeirah area.
