Try using food colouring in the mashed potato, my mum did this with me and I never turned it downafter that!! You can let them choose the colour, or try making 'faces' or 'sheep' with the pie & mash... e.g. carrot sticks for legs etc

Is the biryani too spicy for your kids? even though you only use a couple of tbsns? My little boys are 2 and 3 - what do you think? (they have not really been exposed to too much spice). My boys are also little, nearly 2 and nearly 4. We don't eat much spice either. I only stumbled upon this discovery when I took along DS2 to a friend's home, and she had made chicken biryani using Shan Sindhi Biryani spice packet. DS2 wolfed it down. DS1 wanted plain yoghurt on the side. I enrich biryani and most stew recipes by adding 200g each of a changing assortment of diced veggies like carrots, koosa (little green marrows), green beans, eggplant, turnips (even raw beets sometimes), winter squash, cauliflower, broccoli stems. This is the best way I can get veg into my kids. I make a Greek Pastitsio that is very popular with the kids using a recipe from Amy Sedaris. I wish my kids ate mashed potato, I keep cooking them Shephards Pie and Fish Pie and they just spit it out! DH is veggie so I end up cooking a minimum of 2 main courses anyway!

Chicken biryani (use only 2 Tbsp of the packet spice mix, cook the rice well before adding to the meat gravy) Bolognese sauce with hidden vegetables-- I make big batches once a month and freeze. More but will post later Thanks Apricot, please do. Is the biryani too spicy for your kids? even though you only use a couple of tbsns? My little boys are 2 and 3 - what do you think? Hi Ladies, I am wondering if anyone can please help me with some meal ideas. I am currently cooking seperate meals for everyone and it is making my life really hard (especially as I have newborn twins). I am after relatively easy meals that my husband, myself and our 2 and 3 year olds can eat? Suggestions greatly appreciated
