We used Global relocations. No dramas at UAE end.

For peace of mind I'd recommend a pet relocator. We used Pet Express for our 2 dogs and 2 cats when we moved back to NZ. Linda was wonderful. Heaps cheaper than everyone else and there were zero issues with the strict NZ import regulations.

We used Global Relocations. UAE side were good....but reality struck with the 'less than gentle' local Napier unpackers. Would strongly suggest you're there overseeing that side of things

Are you going to be on holiday here or working? Check out trademe.co.nz as the flatmates wanted or to rent parts are good.

So is the plan to just drive past these places and not spend time at them? I really think you are going to be pushing it if you want to do all that and stop to eat/get lost. Distances may seem short but roads are windy, and in Auckland and Wellington traffic can be heavy. Like I suggest. . If you've only got 7 days then focus on driving one Island. Enjoy! NZ is a wonderful country.

That's a heck of a lot of travelling if you want to do all that. I'd suggest you focus on seeing either the North or the South Island. You're pretty much guaranteed to see snow in the South Island.

Thanks JHM. We are also very concerned about our animals. Wish there was a hotel or apartment we could decamp to with our animals while we sort a solution edited by SamCT on 14/07/2014

Thanks for the advice. Especially about finding a drain cleaning company. Sadly he didn't use a 'few capfuls '.it was the full bottle. I am so upset.

It's my home town and I'd go back in a heartbeat if my husband was keen! (he's still finding Dubai/Middle East fun). Auckland is a big city, and life really would be what you made of it. However if my family and friends weren't there, I'd go live in the smaller places like Whangarei, Napier, or even windy Wellington. Maybe you should go visit beforehand? edited by SamCT on 21/09/2013

Blue oasis for us as well. They have always been wonderful and spot on with the various complaints our animals plus strays have had over the past 5 years.

@mrs.w....no. BKC's focus is pretty much on local maus....since they get far less public interest, help and attention than imported pure breeds :-) @blondie 007..come along and talk to us...we all try to match cat/kitten personality to potential homes....as we more than anything aim for happy home stories :-) we can also advise on general care and relocations 'home' with their families. I couldn't imagine our home life without cats (and our dog). They are great company

They are all lovely arabian maus, of all ages. All are rescues, and all are being fostered by volunteers.....a couple that are especially deserving are two kitten brothers....one is partially sighted, whilst his brother is blind.......but you certainly wouldn't know it as they run around happily! Come along and meet them all :-)

Casper....a very friendly pure white arabian mau who was abandoned in a carpark (well he would be pure white, if he wasnt living underneath cars) . He has a green eye and a blue eye, and is gorgeous.. 2. Jo....a friendly 4month old pure black kitten....found on jumeirah beach, and 3. Jase....Jo's very very gentle and loving black and white brother... plus...another 27 more very deserving felines all needing decent people to love!

We used Clearwater when we moved into our 3 bed villa in July and were very pleased with them.they took the fly screens off and cleaned them, used a floor machine polisher, and even did the top of the door sills. I had issues with their receptionist, but once I spoke to the manager, everything got sorted quickly.totally recommend. Phone no is 045153666 edited by SamCT on 01/09/2012

Its 'bye bye marine life'( went snorkelling around the sheraton spit yesterday, and unlike 5 years ago when it wss TEEMING with coral life, butterfly fish, crab, and other natural gleaming multicolored coral dwellers....there was NOTHING yesterday :-C ).....and hello ' plastic bags, bottles, cigarette butts, noise, dirty nappies (yes...dirty nappies!!) and traffic. Apparently the building works are scheduled to finish end of 2013.....(so they optimistically project....) I dont understand how people walk away and leave their rubbish on the beach.... And destroy the environment...

Can anyone recommend a gardener? our new villa needs TLC and some landscaping. Very very reluctant to inherit the compound gardener/watchman, given the neglected state of the trees (overgrown), grass, and pot holed 'lawn'!

OP...in your research, did you find out how they compare to Clearwater? FYI: Just had a proposal from Clearwater where they've proposed: 1. We will be supplying all the necessary equipment for the work a. Buffing machine for floor scrubbing and polishing b. Vacuum cleaners c. General equipment i.e. mops, brushes, cloths, etc. 2. Chemicals a. All chemicals will be supplied by us 3. Floor cleaning a. Marble floors will be mopped and then buffed to finish. If crystallization is required it will be quoted separately on the sqm of the floor. b. Ceramic tiles will be mopped, scrubbed if necessary and then buffed to remove any soap marks. Any stains that cannot be removed will be pointed out to you for discussion and further action. c. Wooden floors – These will be vacuumed, mopped and then brushed. If required, we apply a thin coat of wood oil. d. Laminate floors – These floors can only be vacuumed and mopped. If any chemicals/ oils are used they become very slippery and dangerous, and if the chemical is not recommended by the supplier it could damage the coating. 4. Cupboards and doors – These will be dusted and cleaned with wood cleaner 5. Kitchen – All surfaces will be cleaned and degreased to the best of our ability. We will only move appliances under the supervision of the owner/ tenant. Cleaning inside appliances, i.e. fridges or ovens will be done as good as possible. Please note that is almost impossible to restore appliances to their original state. Problem areas will be pointed out to the client and discussed. Kitchen cupboards will be dusted and cleaned as good as possible. 6. Window cleaning – All windows will be cleaned with Purewater. This is an environmentally friendly system which is completely chemical free and gives you a mirror shine finish. We can reach windows up to 10m off the ground and achieve a consistent, brilliant shine finish.
