If we ever had a day off work, our landline would ring constantly and if I answered, the caller would hang up - I did my block about it one day and our maid really couldn't understand the problem. aaarrgh, final straw was never being able to find the handset because it was in her room/!!! I would be even more ****** if it was an agency maid.

Our old maid made 400 dhs worth of calls from our landline when we were out or away. All to the same number, and often at 7pm time when we were on holiday... Couldn't then understand why we didn't give her a bye bye bonus...

My Agency maid didn't turn up on Friday so I had to change a bed...traumatic wasn't in it! I find the easiest way is just to order a new bed each time and get them to make it before they leave :D Or just book into a hotel...much cheaper! :P

What if you made the agency pay the cost of getting a new number? Its not worth it..I have called the agency and told them I no longer want her to come to my house. I don't want her to lose her job but I also don't want her here again. Personally, I think you should let the agency know what she has done. I doubt she'd lose her job over this if this is her first offense. The agency has spent too much money on her and makes a lot off of her so they will not want to send her home. Why in the world did she do that anyway? I'm guessing it's because of the poor cell phone reception in the Springs or because her boyfriend is cheap and doesn't want to pay for the call. She really overstepped the boundaries here! My maid did this soon after she came to work for us. I thought she'd been phoning all and sundry but she hadn't actually made any calls. She gave my number to her friends so they could call her on the landline rather than on her mobile which didn't get good reception. As she didn't actually incur any costs she didn't see a problem with it. She was quite surprised that I did and when I explained that I didn't want random strangers knowing my home number she was totally unaware that it could be an issue.

And next time, FYI, give your maid a drink and snack when she leaves but do not let her help herself to your fridge.
