Hello, we are relocating from the US this summer and are considering renting in either community. We have 2 small children. Does one community have any advantages over the other?
Thank u.

I looked at Jumeirah Islands but was worried about mossies and thought it was a bit far (I work in DIFC). If the Emirates Golf Club Villas are where I think they are (next to Nakheel Metro?) I also looked at these as they were just finishing them when I came on my look-see visit in Sept 2010....the ones I saw had beautiful views over the golf course from the back of the house and a very close up view of the SZR at the front. My DH is bored of me saying "I'm so glad we didn't move there it would have been very noisy' every time we pass.

I can't comment on the golf villas as they were building them when we lived in Jumeirah Islands. We lived in Jumeirah Islands for 3 years. some of the build quality of the villas is not great - you really need to view many as some clusters are worse than others. We lived on a cluster that was not right on the water and so didn't suffer from the mozzies but many people on the water did have a pretty bad time with the mozzies. Also some of the water ways smelt pretty bad but again, if you choose away from the water you are not affected. It was a very friendly community. They have some lovely play areas and the new community centre with gym and pool is lovely. We moved from Jumeirah Islands to Arabian Ranches and out of those 2 places I would choose Arabian Ranches any day. It really depends where your husband will be working and then which schools you will be sending your children to. Try to live as close to both as you can. I spent an awful lot of time driving when I lived in Jumeirah Islands - arabian ranches is far more central to everything.

Hi, welcome to Dubai :) I have no knowledge of living in either community but I think the former is larger and has more mosquitoes (lakes) and the latter are smaller with a view of the golf-course. I would go for the latter because I love the situation but not sure if our family would fit and we don't play golf :) Both nice places, you need to have a look for yourself, don't try and "buy" before you get here. I was set on the Lakes before we visited and even after that, but in the end, decided we get more for our money in Meadows, despite the Lakes being the only place here where you get your post delivered to your door :)
