hi there,i know nothing when it comes to tanning oil, lotions and the likes. i am asian but i have light skin, but when i soak under the sun i easily get tanned. yesterday my friend (who is asian too)looked gorgeous in her tanned skin, she told me she has been using a tanning oil. but my question is,if you are asian and you easily get tanned why would you use tanning solutions?plus its summer and the sun is just around the corner.i mean what are the difference can it make to my skin, when i easily get tanned?my friends skin is tanned and shiny thats why i got curious.

i use LANCASTER tanning lotion and spray it has a high uv protect too , give a nice brown tan . If its giving you a 'nice brown tan' with a high uv, then its not doing its job. A tan is effectively burnt skin.

I am petrified of the sun. I hide under a HUGE umbrella. People comment, but I couldn't care less!

Seriously? Oil? Why don't you just cover yourself in vegetable oil and cook like a chicken! It doesn't matter what type of skin you have, the dangers of the sun are the same. Tanning and lying out in the sun in the name of vanity is never a good idea. Keep going like that and welcome to skin cancer in a few years. Thanks but no thanks! thanks to higher levels of melanin in our ASIAN skins we are safer from skin cancer ....so chill!!! In 20 years your friend will look like a wrinkly crisp...... would you like that look too?

I am Indian with pale skin and LOVE tanning as it gives an even , healthy , glowing look to the skin. Just tanning with out any coverage leaves me with patches and uneven tan... I used Lancaster Bronzing dark cream and Argan oil which my Moroccan friend tops up for me. After sun to prolong tan I use Clarins tan enhancing cream. i think im gonna try that one as well,i was in the mall this morning ive seen one from clarins and it smelled yummy and pricey...ouch.

And I gave you a suggestion. It doesn't matter how long anyone spends out. Exposure is exposure. So at least use protection rather than oils which give you nothing. Wow! now you sound like my MUM!!! Yes...point taken.... I do it for my kid! for me...NAH....few days of summer tan to look vain....!!

Thanks but no thanks! thanks to higher levels of melanin in our ASIAN skins we are safer from skin cancer ....so chill!!! You reckon? Actually Asians are more likely to present with untreatable skin cancers because of that misconception. Plus cancers are more likely to occur on unexposed skin, that that which is exposed during tanning. Even though the percentage of those getting cancers might be low, the majority of those cases are fatal. Still not worth taking the risk really. Instead of oils, use a decent sunscreen with a good spf, you'll still tan and evenly, but with a reduced risk. Plus there are many with tan enhancers which limit your exposure. edited by Chocs01 on 21/06/2012 Please lets each stick to our own research and follow what we think is good for us ! Am thankful for you looking out but c'mon as adults we have the right to our own opinions!Don't feel the need to defend myself any further...just posted about a query...not too keen to get preaching shoved down my throat ;O) Just to add: as melanin levels are high in our skin, exposure time is also less coz we get tanned quicker...prolonged exposure is the key to cancer! But thanks for sharing your thoughts.....
