no you just sweep up the loose dirt and dust. I would imagine it is like washing the floor only better and if you have clumps of dirt and du.st bunnies, they will only get moved around by the steamer, the steamer does not make them disappear lol..think of making mud lol

vacume or sweep first. the steam mop is not a vacume :) especially if you have animals and wear socks and clean moving backwards lol

hard to believe that absolutely noone can tell me if a steam mop substitutes the vacuum cleaner or i still need to buy a vacuum as well!

hmm.. do you ladies have/use a vacuum cleaner along with the steam mop, or is that substitute vacuuming/ having a vacuum cleaner?

Sorry to revive a semi-boring thread. I was approached by a saleslady in C4@MCC and she was doing demo's of the Black & Decker steam mop, I cannot remember the price and she ran out of water and I could not wait for her to get it sorted.
