Is anyone currently having acupuncture linked to fertility treatment at the moment?
I've always been a patient of dr heather at Dubai mall but keep getting told she's fully booked until end of feb
Many thanks

Thank you so much for this thread. I have learned a lot about pregnancy acupuncture. Pregnancy is always a very exciting and precious moment. Pregnancy acupuncture may be the ideal form of treatment as it offers women drug-free relief for a variety of conditions present during pregnancy and childbirth. Treatment may be used to relieve a variety of symptoms including pregnancy-related musculoskeletal pain such as pelvic pain, lower back pain, and morning sickness. You should try and check holisticacupuncture.com.au

Hi Ladies, My husband and I have so many stories to tell about our IVF experiences in and out of Dubai and i felt there is a lacking of a IVF or (Hope for Baby) support groups in Dubai. It is mandatory in the UK and the US to be part of a support group while going through the IVF cycle. It is not mandatory here though but will be very benefitial. We can create a group, send out our message to the community , hold monthly meetings face to face and eventually invite doctors from the medical field to share with us their latest findings. If you are interested, please email me to [email protected]. I am ready to host our first get together! Looking forward!

Hi QueenofHearts - please see main forum as have replied there. Good Luck! :) nickym1d - when do you see Dr Fakih? Good luck with that! I just KNOW 2013 is our year. For me, it's healthy eating, gentle walking, pilates and 'The Secret' all the way! :) Not that i'm thinking about it of course lol! We've told everyone we are forgetting it this year...yeah right...my head doesn't stop but as long as I keep it in there (and on here :) ) then we will be fine I guess. I have my follow up with Dr Fakih/Dr Amal this week so we may even be in the waiting room at the same time and never know! Good Luck xx

Hi, I'm new to expat woman, don't have a clue what I'm doing and if you'll even get this. From everyone's recommendations on here I have an appointment with Dr Ou but just a little apprehensive. How come she doesn't work out of a clinic? Does she have qualifications? Sorry I don't mean to be a snob or anything, it's just my husband & I have been trying forever, well seems like forever to get pregnant and we've been to 4 different doctors, been on fertility drugs, had iui and about to do 2nd iui in Sharjah. Hope someone can ease my mind, never had Acupuncture and have a phobia with needles :-( thank you xx edited by Queen of hearts on 06/01/2013

Thanks so much fandrew. Will call them. Totally agree re your theory on all being results driven and we actually did 3 cycles at Conceive (2 BFP's and 1 that didnt make it to transfer due hormone levels) and 2 at Fakih (1 icsi which resulted in BFP and i natural and had to have the egg frozen and it didnt survive the thaw). I have to be completely honest and say I found them BOTH to be much the same in terms of treatment. Clearly Dr Fakih is a more sophisticated clinic and everyone will have different views on the level of care but when it came down to it the care and treatment we received really was much of a muchness and with each transfer I got pregnant, sadly they just didnt make it. Fakih is more convenient for us (although more expensive) and Dr Fakih did tell us that we should have stopped taking DHEA at ovulation as can be detrimental to the eggs. I was treated by Dr Amal who I think is lovely but does need to be chased a little. I have to say though that at each clinic the lack of follow up/sharing of info has been frustrating and we have had to really educate ourselves and ask the right questions and push push push. They both just seem to be so so busy. I'd be interested to know if it's the same outside of the UAE. I really hope that helps and who knows we may have our miracles yet. Keep in touch and most of all keep looking after yoursef and your hubby...dont know what we would do without them through all of this! Thanks again for the number! xx

(yes sorry Nicky!) Confusion, I am up there with you at 3 failures and a miscarriage at 4 months. I didn't know at all that I am supposed to take it only up to ovulation. Neither doctor mentioned that to me so thank you so much for mentioning it! Do you have any idea what the reasoning behind that is? Trouble is when I ovulate is always a big mystery even with the sticks. Sigh. Dh and I are trying to continue IVF this year without letting it ruin our lives. May I ask, if its not too personal, which of the doctors/clinics you used here in the UAE and which you found to be most helpful? After a long trip to a few clinics we have decided to suck up the stress and confusion and just go back to Fakih. This is such a hard journey that at times I realize NO doctor or clinic seems to be good enough for me no matter what they do or say. But I think I have come out the other side this year to realize that if the clinic is results driven that is all that matters. Who cares if I cannot understand them or they don't share any information with me :-) Good luck and don't worry about your year off your marriage is so much more important in the final analysis. Besides, maybe you will be another story in the long line of "we gave up and got pregnant naturally"

Thanks fandrew. I have taken those in the past but had a break since the miscarriage. Will start again next week. I also took L'Arginine - 1000mg a day. May I ask where you got your DHEA please as I need some more and not currently with a doctor? Also you do know to only take that to ovulation don't you? I say that as my first doctor didn't tell me that and my next doctor was concerned to hear I had taken all the way through previously. I am a little with you in terms of organic produce and sugar etc as I am a mature 'vintage' (41) and the damage is really done. I also have low reserve and the current explanations for my miscarriages are simply down to chromosonal issues i.e. egg quality. We've decided to take a risk given my age and just relax for a year (i.e. no more IVF) and watch our diets in terms of healthy eating, no alcohol (although I stopped that anyway a year ago) and gentle exercise. I had 5 ivf's last year which was just too much and my body and mind needs a rest. If nothing happens by next year then we will re-evaluate. I am a firm believer that we can do all possible to try to make this happen but it can all be wiped out immediately if stressing about it. I am continuing to do some 'gentle' research but most importantly concentrating on me and my hubby and get our lives and my body back. Boy I have gained some demon pounds! ;) Would be lovely to catch up at some stage - dont know about you but it seems like I am surrounded by a pregnancy epidemic and at times I want to scream like a banshee! Good Luck xx

Oh and I forgot - wheat grass. I am not much of a believer in the all organic no dairy no sugar route. The time I was pregnant I decided to come off an all protein diet and just eat what I liked. I think for us the real issue is egg quality and quantity an no amount of cake - or lack thereof - is going to turn that wheel in either direction as far as I am concerned :-) I think in all of our conversations on various threads I have lost track of where you have landed in terms of moving forward or cycles. Whatever you have decided to do I wish you all the best of luck. If you ever want to talk or vent I am here probably struggling along with you!

Wow Confusion that is amazing. I will definitely give her a ring. I imagine she is quite busy but here is hoping :-) Looking at the site now, thanks again for sharing! In terms of supplements here is where we are at the moment (I am sure none of the folowing will come as a surprise to you). CQ10 500 to 800 mg a day Royal Jelly 200mg DHEA 3 x a day 75 mg. I had heard of these supplements before - all are supposed to support egg quality and quantity in the older age groups (I am 40) - but I never really used them until this month. I intend to do this in conjunction with acupunture and try one more time and see how we go. After that, I think I need to just give up.

No problem fandrew. I suffer terribly from Anxiety at the best of times so you can only imagine what I was like when doing ivf....I was amazed how I could call Dr Ou when I literally was unable to breathe i.e. awake all night gasping for air and then she would come and work her magic and then all of a sudden I was breathing normally and relatively relaxed. If you are looking into the herbs/supplement side of things I would be very grateful if you could share any findings please. I also happened upon a good website yesterday that you may find interesting...it mentions a few issues that I think you share with me. I have ALL the books and so much info but I did like this site. Take a look and GOOD LUCK xx www.natural-fertility-info.com

Thank you for the number confusion. I am watching this thread as I am considering starting up, if for nothing else to ease anxiety over fertility issues. Wondered if anyone know anything about Dubai Herbal Treatment Centre. DHTC or has any experience with them. Did a search but not much turned up.
