I've been asked to give some ideas to management for a 'Family Day' for colleagues and their families.

I have only started working for this company a few months, so I really want to go back with some good ideas.

Can anyone recommend some events companies or someone out there that can help us.

It will be an annual event, and this one will be our 1st. So I want it to be good. I dont knwo the budget, but I need to contact companies who can suggest things. I dont know where to start.

Please help!!

We recently planned ours with E-Sports and the children loved it plus they arranged some activities for a bit of healthy competition between the adults too. Buffet was pretty tasty also!

I would highly recommend contacting tumble time. They provide entertainment to many of the hotels. I have used them a number of times and they are easy to deal with their face painters are superb, their equipment is well maintained and their entertainment staff are lovely. Ask to speak to the owner - she's a lovely lady who will come and meet with you and take the brief for your event and give you a comprehensive quote. Reliable and very very nice to deal with.

I'm "friends" with Indigo Events on facebook. They do family fun days and corporate team building etc. You can find their information here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Indigo-Events/155062934625785?ref=hl

Our Fun Day/Family Day was at Le Royal Meridien. It was fantastic - they take care of pretty much everything and are flexible to accomodate whatever you want. They day was sports and fun team building games. They organised teams and tracked scoring and there was a lunch in the afternoon where they did a general knowledge quiz and played team suduko. The evening was a large buffet barbecue, an awards ceremony for the winners plus music and dancing. We also arranged for Dubai Drums to be there who coordinated an activity for everyone. Additionally, there was a kids area with a bouncy castle, face painting, etc. I have no idea what your budget is but I'm sure that they can tailor something to fit within the budget.

DH's company have done varying events over the years ranging from a catered BBQ in Creek Park, where they organised running around games for the kids, to a Hot Air Balloon trip with brunch on the ground afterwards (pre-2009!;)). Desert safari is a lovely idea, you can also hire out venues such as bowling alleys, the autodrome, hotels etc. I love planning things like this - feeling somewhat jealous you are getting to do so and being paid for it!! :) Have fun! we often have our work 'do's' in creek park - had our christmas party and mini awards ceremony last year - was great fun. NKD pizza even delivered food halfway through!

I would have suggested the same about the Creek:) You could also raffle off some prizes, or have games that award these prizes. For the kids, you could do "guess how many pieces of candy are in the jar" and give away a gift card to a toy store. For the adults, you could give away gift cards to electronics or housewares stores or dinner vouchers. Giveaways make these kind of events :) (planned a few church picnics in my time)

A lot depends on the budget. You can start off by contacting some hotels and ask to speak to their event planners. You can also consider one of the desert safari companies, many of them also cater for corporates.
