My 4 month baby boy once in a while has milk rash but my mom's trick helped... clean baby's face and neck with cotton wool soaked in warm water after every feed( even in the middle of the night!), followed by lil olive oil mixed with water...

Thanks ladies, I have tried the Bepanthen and it looks like it's clearing up. JoyceB I was an 82 baby :) The year my DS was born! He is in Dubai at the moment working as an architect :) Glad your wee one's sore neck is improving. x

I have been advised by several Drs when I was asking if I should use such creams on DD that generally speaking hydrocortisone creams are not advisable under the age of 2 and should only be used in serious conditions and for no more than 3-5 days as they can thin the skin and steroids can be absorbed into the bloodstream; if you are going to use such a cream best to check with a Dr first.

Try low level hydrocortisone cream once a week to every other week. That cleared it up marvelously for DS and DD.

TDB, my DD had very dry skin until 5-6 months and I was using QV wash (or something that sounds like it) and stelatopia cream as instructed by the Dr and it worked fine. I also found the Neal's Yard sweet almond oil to be great on her skin and nappy area. You prob have to try a few things before you find what workd on your baby's skin, hope she gets better soon.

Both of my children had dreadful "milk rashes" as babies in spite of careful placing of bibs and muslins. My DD was an avid thumb sucker too which left her thumb and chin in a terrible mess. I just kept the areas clean and dry and applied E45 cream. This was back in the dark ages mind you (79 and 82) Both children's neck skin cleared up of it's own volition once they were off bottle feeds.

Olive oil for dry skin. Either few drops in bath water or massage small amount directly onto skin

Try bepanthen ointment. You get it at most supermarkets and pharmacies. Wash the area with water, pat dry thoroughly and put the cream directly over. Works great in a couple of days. I'd say do it after each feed to keep clean and dry. For the dry skin cut out the soap and try the stelatopia bath oil thing. It helps. Or just wash in plain water.
