Hello ladies,

I could really use your help. My wedding is in August and I did not buy the dress yet. So far I only went to Pronovias at Dubai Mall and the service was horrible - I simply hated their consultants they were extremely rude and so far from being helpful. I also went to La Sposa in Jumeirah 1, they were great - very helpful consultants and the gowns are just wow, the ones I liked are slightly above my budget though.

Anyhow, I wanted to look at more dresses before making a final decision. Could you recommend shops that I can go to in Dubai? My budget is up to AED 13,000.

Thank you! :)

I suggest you try MYNAMOUR WEDDING DRESS DUBAI. They have rtw, rental, and excellent in customizing as per you wish. they have facebook and Instagram , their website does not show many designs but in the shops they have really nice dresses. price ranges from 2000 - 250'000 dirhams. Crazy but true. I went there once and I saw a dress with real diamond made for 1 Miss from Saudi Arabic, really beautiful and was told price was above 70 k usd. crazy. I rent a dress from them with price of 5000 aed, I designed my own dress and they execute it exactly what I want and I could rent it. My budget was 8000 so I save 3k to do something else and don't need to store the big dress at home. The tailors are from Asia, and the designer I think also. they also have good reviews though. they are in JLT,

I had mine made at Montexa in Satwa. I always recommend Anne - although I'm sure it's Rosie who actually does the work! They've made several dresses for me - all formal ones - and I've never been let down. One even had to be adjusted after it had been mainly made as my Mum was bringing a stick on bra from the UK with her, so they left that part of the dress only hand stitched. I can't recommend them enough & will only go to them. If you take a picture of what you'd like, they can make it from that too. Good luck!

Hi Hermione28. Honestly, you can go to Buy It, Sell It, Swap It Dubai group on Facebook and find some amazing wedding dresses that folks are selling for very little since they've been worn once. Check it out (it has a search function built in so you can just enter "wedding dress"! Definitely some steals there. And, best of all, all of the dresses are located here in Dubai, so you'd just need to negotiate the price, pick it up and have it tailored to fit you in Karama. Couldn't be easier! :) Good luck.

Hi Ladies, I visited the Bride Show in Dubai almost a month ago...and to be honest, I was so shocked to see the offers on the market - OMG :(:(:( I was looking for a dress for my sister and I came across 2 completely new stores now: one in Sharjah and one in Dubai. They opened like literally 3-4 weeks ago maybe. The of one in Dubai is something like Vanilla Studio.... www.vanilastudio.ae and Sharja one is here - https://www.facebook.com/sponsabridal?fref=ts I'm planning to make an appointment with Dubai store soon to visit when my sister arrives, unfortunately the Sharjah one is a bit far for us as we don't have a car:( If anyone visits the new shops earlier than we do, let us know of your experience!!!!!! :)))))

Had to phone Contessa for a friend, OMG possibly the worse service I have ever known. The girl was totally useless and doesn't seem to understand anything you tell her! I have told my friend to go somewhere else - she stressed me out on the phone, would hate to be a bride and be treated like that!

We bought my daughters dress in the Wedding Shop and they were fab until it became apparent that there tailor was no more a tailor than Minnie Mouse is. We were left 4 weeks before the big day with a dress that needed taken in at the bust, we knew it would and we were assured by the staff and tailor prior to it being bought that it would be a case of opening the seam on either side and taking it in. What it in fact needed was to be taken apart and unpleated down to the top of thigh, it was one those mermaid things, and then repleated and stitched back up again. The woman was a disaster and eventually another tailor was called, she took one look at the dress and said - it will literally have to be remade. The owner was called and after refusing to come and see what the problem was, the staff were even afraid to call her or him before 12 on a Thursday, she offered us something like 800 dhms off the dress to take it to a tailor of our choice and have altered. I told them to keep their money and we brought the dress back to Muscat where a tailor was able to do something from the inside of the dress with a kind of drawstring so that my daughter was kept in place on the day and nothing more than a spoon landed in her starter. That said however my girl was great and one the day said - ah who the **** cares, Im married and that's all that matters. She had gotten married the previous day in her traditional clothes and this dress was for what the kids here call their Mr and Mrs. So yes, whilst they do have lovely dresses and offer a very good service just be very wary of what they say can be done alterations wise, and all the more-so if that useless woman is still there. And another place to try is one the same stretch of road as The Wedding Shop, its in a small mall and I think is called The Bridal Room???? , its owned by a British lady and they also have lovely dresses and we had found a dress for my daughter there but out of politeness we still kept our apt at the other shop - and of course there was the 'real' dress. Its a much smaller shop than the other one and not as polished and glam looking but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the service and the dresses are on par with each other. The is also the added bonus that the owner is accessible, her mobile number is on the face book page. She is very nice. Then there is Contessa which I think is in Jumeirah Towers. As for Pronovias, much has been said about them here over the years and its usually about how rubbish the service is. I think the point is that the people who own these shops don't own them because they need to earn from it, they own them because they like to be able to say - oh yes, I am Pronovias in Dxb. They quite simply can afford to not give a hoot about any of it and Pronovias wont care as long as their rep in DXB pays for the stock the order. But that said the Eastern European young woman was trying, but the other girl, she was Arab, quite hated the fact others could afford a dress she could never hope to have. She was sneering and hostile and almost jumped out of her skin when my daughters spoke to each other in Arabic and gave her the kind of look she was giving them - she was expecting it but by then we were on the way out of the shop without a backward glance. Its a horrible place. eta - heres the link to https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Bridal-Room-DubaiUAE/156309731086952?hc_location=timeline They are in Jumeirah Plaza edited by DesertRose1958 on 19/01/2014 edited by DesertRose1958 on 19/01/2014 edited by DesertRose1958 on 19/01/2014 Oh dear God no. So sorry about your daughter's bad experience! My wedding won't be in Dubai and I will have to leave the city at least 1 month before the wedding date. I NEED a good tailor; its not an option. I'm also trying to lose a few pounds (or a lot! :) ) before the big day so I know my measurements are going to change and the dress will need alteration. I'm going to The Wedding Shop on Wednesday, and I'm definitely not going back to Pronovias. This place is depressing, the looks on their faces made me hate my life at that particular moment. Its quite sad; aren't wedding supposed to be a joyous occasion? I really hated the place I am NEVER going back no matter how pretty their dresses are. I do need to be happy with the help that I'm getting, and we know that's never going to happen at Pronovias. I work in JLT, the same cluster as Contessa which is perfect; I'll go check them out today & update you kind ladies with my experience. Thanks a lot for the detailed reply, appreciate it! :)

I love Demetrios dresses...haha but I'm bias cuz that's where my dress was from! There is a Demetrios shop in Diera. It's a bit of a random location for the shop, but it's in a mall called Dubai Shopping Centre...it's a very small, old mall which is across the road from Diera City Centre. They definitely have dresses that suit your budget, here is the link for you to see the collections, but bear in mind that the shop doesn't have all of the dresses but they can order for you if you see something that you like in the catalogues. http://www.demetriosbride.com/ Oh wow, I had a look at them they're great! I'll definitely call them up for an appointment today. Thank you for sharing this with me! :)

Hey misslimonero, Congratulations!! I hope that all your preparations are going well ;) I'm sorry you had a bad experience at Pronovias...it seems like everyone does...I had a great experience though with a girl called Natalia...she was amazingly nice and patient with me...so if you ever change your mind, ask for her...and if you are interested, I have the Petunia style from there for sale... On the other hand, there are loads of other places...here's my list ;) - Bridal Boudoir - on the Palm / dresses for rent / 050 395 5036 - Bridal Room - Jumeirah Plaza / 04 344 6076 - Bridal Showroom - 2 branches: Galeries Lafayette in DXB Mall & JLT (Cluster V) / mostly UK brands / 04 457 9400 - Contessa - JLT (Cluster X) / 04 364 9280 - Esposa - Wasl Road / brands: Marchesa, La Sposa, Enzoani / 04 385 4477 - Frost - Palm Strip Mall / brands: Marchesa, Oscar de la Renta, Christos, San Patrick / 04 345 5690 - The Bride - Wafi Mall / brands: La Sposa / 04 327 9039 - Wedding Shop - Jumeirah Center / 04 344 1618 Happy wedding dress shopping and congrats again!! Thank you!! :) Oh Petunia is just lovely, sadly it doesn't go with my body shape - I was looking for something a little bit more flowy. I have booked an appointment with The Wedding Shop on Wednesday, and I'm going to Contessa today (I work in the same cluster so YAY :) I'll have a look at your recommendations, they all seem great. Thanks a lot for your help! I'll definitely come back with an update of my experience with trying to find "the" wedding gown :)

I had an excellent experience with The Wedding Shop and I was really amazed with the price of the dress that I picked. They were very helpful and had lots of different styles to try on. I would also recommend looking at the website for Abela's Bridal Boutique. The lady who owns this is based in Dubai and she will take the measurements and have any of the dresses made within a few weeks. Perfect, thank you! I called The Wedding Shop and booked an appointment on Wednesday. I'll definitely come back to you ladies & brief your about my experience with them :)

Try the wedding shop in jumeriah http://www.theweddingshop.ae/?gclid=CJGfkay7ibwCFYmN3godFCUADQ The girls there are lovely, i found my dress there although i bought it back home as it was much cheaper. I also tried pronovias the staff were rude and honestly that is all i have ever heard about that shop. I don't know how they keep going. Thank you for that :) I'll go to the Wedding Shop then! Just booked an appointment with them :D Pronovias was a horrible experience - I thought weddings were supposed to be a joyous occasion, why are the consultants so grumpy? Their dresses are lovely but them not being helpful at all will definitely not make me go back there. Pronovias is off the list. You will have a much nicer time at the Wedding Shop! Enjoy!
