Why not do a posh Iftar? Gaucho's Iftar looks amazing, we are going there for our anniversary! http://edgardaily.com/dubais-top-10-iftars-this-ramadan/ I think the OP wants alcohol, will Gauchos serve at Iftar? ( Don't quote me though) :-) I checked and they are after 8pm, same as most places. :) Hi pollydxb1 have you been to Gaucho's Iftar then? What's the verdict? We are heading to Gaucho this Thursday to celebrate my DH's birthday and we are 13 in total. We choose the Iftar menu for AED 295 pp. They have a nice private high ceiling room that seats 16 but I am a little unsure as I dont want us to feel isolated from the crowd. Can anyone send their feedback? They allowed me to bring my own cake by the way :)

Thanks Ladies, I went to Al Rostamani Exchange yesterday and said our AED divided into 5.013(apparently the best rate I can get) will be the exact Euro amount we will get in our European bank, no further deductions and hidden charges. I am a little doubtful that there's no bank transfer charges? I normally pay AED 50 for bank transfer fee of a small amount to europe.. We will check UK Forex houses too and compare the best offer.

We used a company based in London when we bought a property in Norhern Cyprus. If you can wait until tomorrow I can get the name for you. Obviously the more you transfer the better the deal and they will do it all via email and your bank. We had no need to draw cash out and take it anywhere. I can wait until next week :) Thank you. I can see the ongoing rate selling of Euro is AED 5.03 looking good I think?

Hi Ladies, please help! We are buying a house in Italy and I wonder what’s the best way to transfer our Dirhams to Italian Bank/Euro? We are paying 100% of the house so even slight changes in the exchange rate will make a huge difference. I normally buy Euros from Exchange Shops as they got better rates than banks. But this time we are looking to exchange huge amount of AED to Euro so I am not sure if that's still the best way to do it. Thanks ladies for all your input even though it is not what I want to hear!!! LOL My concern is, we’ve organized a wedding week in Amalfi where we will all be touring Pompeii, Ravello, a visit to Capri Island in a private boat and loads and loads of dinners and gatherings apart from the wedding day itself. It is a six-day event, so I will see her the whole time!! Oh well, think I just have to swallow it and also pay for all her expenses when she joins the event… What a big big mistake, REALLY! Sighhhhhh……

Great! Thanks ladies. I let it go and acted as if nothing happened this morning. Not a regular thing though.. Boys will be boys you’re right. Just don’t want him to get used to it and feel what he did is okay to me and maybe next time he won't mind doing it again. But next time he will do it again, will defo need to do something about it.

I saw that it rained, and felt relieved in a way LOL sorry I am just bitter I didn't get to see UB40. We went to see Sir Geldof and after 30 minutes it rained very heavy and went home!

Hi there I was also married in Amalfi coast (Ravello) a few years ago and remember paperwork headache before. Afterwards wasnt so bad.... We didnt do anything at the time. We brought our Italian marriage certificate back to UAE. Didnt bother getting it legalised until years later when we had our daughter. (My husband is not my sponsor). You dont have to personally go to Rome. You can organise through DHL from here. Best thing to do is to go to the Italian Consulate here in Dubai - they are very helpful. They will explain the easiest way to manage the process. Thanks Kitten, I will email the Italian Consulate here in Dubai :)

Thank you! It gave me a clearer idea of how I should initiate our financial set up post marriage. My future husband is very generous and he doesn’t mind really, but I grew up very independent and I have so much pride when it comes to my career and earnings. But since I will be jobless after the marriage, it is not easy for me to swallow that I will be depending to his finances. After reading your tips I think we should go for joint account and big spending will be discussed but not otherwise- I like this approach! Thanks ladies!!

Stupid question, but why do you have to leave your job? It's per the company's policy, we are not permitted to work together in the same company if we are related e.g. brother, wife, cousins, even in laws.

I'd love to sleep every night in our bed like you are in a hotel! At Souq Madinat, Jumeirah is selling their beddings and linens but they are not flexsible in sizes so I am crapping that off in my option. Egyptian or Italian cottons are very popular. I went to Debenhams and they sell 500 Thread counts Egyptian cotton -a fitted bed sheet size 200x200cm is AED 600. Is this reasonable? Where else can i find good beddings? TIA

WOW Claw BBQ is fully booked up to next week.. Intriguing! I originally booked Fogueira Brazilian Restaurant located on the 35th floor of Ramada JBR, I’ve been there & it was really great because they had Brazilian Dancers and Live duo band, but they told me the last minute that they won’t be having any live entertainment, argggh!! Now almost all the restaurants in Dubai are fully booked and I have 20 guests making it even more difficult to find new place for dinner with live entertainment.

I haven't met Mr. Right here. But I have met my Mr. though:) It really depends on what relationship you want and what kind of guy you're looking for. For example TanAmbassador's approach wouldn't work for me as I only speak to a guy who is ready and looking for marriage. And no dating. Straight to the court lol. Hopefully in a few months:) In my own opinion, everybody (or should I say most) is ready, it is just a matter of finding the one they will find worth setling down with. If a man in uncommitted it is because (at least in most cases) they havent found the person worth committing with.

I don’t think Dubai is too bad when it comes to meeting ‘great and genuine’ men. There are a lot out there who are very decent and willing to commit if they see the “right signs” from these women. It is a human nature thing that “we want what we can’t have!” FACT! This goes the same with how men perceive a relationship. If women are too serious esp. on the first few dates, men can feel your desperation, the pressure and see you as ‘needy’, hence they become uncommitted/scared and will runaway eventually. Imagine a man you just met will appear in your door step with 5 dozens of flowers and tell you to marry him as he can’t live without you in his life- your first move is to run as far as you can, right? Also, for men, they want to feel that the woman want them for “who they are” and not for “what they can bring into her life” i.e. to complete the missing piece in her life. I’ve been in Dubai for 8 years now and had few decent long-term relationships. And now I am getting married soon to my wonderful Dane partner I met in Dubai last 2011. I can say he is so into me, he loves me more than I love him. FEW THINGS I did that I think was effective to get him and other men more interested to me were: - I showed no interest in marriage and kids yet. And that I was always cool. The more I don’t talk about commitment, marriage, and kids, the more he talk about our future together. - I never added him in Facebook and one day he called me and asked if he can add me as his partner in FB. I said cool! I also never add photos of us together and never commented on his FB, this made him feel I am not a needy person. -When I phoned him and he didn’t answer. I don’t call him again and again like a mad woman, I let him call me back and answer his call ONLY when it is convenient to me. -I stayed mysterious – I mean don’t tell EVERYTING to them. Also, don’t tell your life story in a first date... -I do a lot of sports, gym, and I go out a lot with my friends. This made him feel I can live an enjoyable life even without him. -I NEVER ask for permission. I am not suggesting to play mind games here, what I am trying to say is to be CONFIDENT, SHOW GOOD MANNERS, AND BE INDEPENDENT- they find these very attractive and makes them want to stay. Because they don’t feel pressured and don’t see you as a burden. The result for me was great – I get to choose who I want to be and not just an option for someone else. ;-) NOTE: Sorry if I sounded lecturing, this is just my own opinion and style and thought to share it, I am sure a lot of ladies here have different ways of dealing with men. So please be gentle if there’s any violent reactions in the way I deal with men. :-) Good luck SH12.

IMHO the card is rubbish, takes forever to earn any decent number of points, never enough to stay in a hotel over night - as they make you spend them in a certain time frame, been really disappointed. Mind you, Sirius offered me a one night stay in Burj Al Arab or 4-5 nights in their other hotels. I think I will choose the hotel in Rome Via Venetto as we plan to travel to Italy next month. I started earning points just 18 months ago. I am happy with my Sirius.

Sarahlou123, I have to be honest and say I think loosing a mother is harder than loosing a father, but that's just my opinion. My friends lost their mother 5 months before me, all similar ages and they have never recovered, not even close. We lost my dearest father just few months ago, it was very sudden, he had a heart attack at age 59. Our life fell apart, no words can express the agony we are going through. I will give up everything even my own life to get him back. I have 10 year old brother. We are so worried about him as he doesn't talk so much and he seems okay but I am sure he is not. He was very close to my father. He is the baby of the family. It is difficult to figure out what my little brother is going through as he doesn't share a lot and seems always very quiet. I’m crossing my fingers that he will grow up fine. I hope you don’t mind me sharing this: after my father’s passing, I fell apart, I lost my faith to God, I became very angry and asked God many times ‘WHY?’, I didn’t understand. Until recently I came across a video that reminds me of God’s great love to His people, I forgot that God understand my agony because He himself lost a son too. This shook me and I cried so much and asked for forgiveness… MrsMopp’s right, you will never get over it but you’ll learn to accept it. I can feel I am still in denial stage but I’m hoping time will heal us.

*waits eagerly for an update* :) p.s. How do you find out what is your ideal body fat % to target? Sorry GM I dont think I answered you right in my earlier post. Below is the following guidelines on the percentage of body fat for women (in general) by American Council on Exercise: Athlete <17% Lean 17-22% Normal 22-25% Above Average 25-29% Over fat 29-35% Obese 35+% Just choose where you want to belong and that will be your target. Last week I was 22.9, I want to be at least lean if not athlete. edited by TanAmbassador on 10/06/2012

Good Morning GM, I will get the result tonight hence I'll update you tomorrow, though I am a bit unsure of the result this week as I had beers and nachos lastnight at Barasti while watching EUFA (lol), wines and steaks on weekdays as BF was visiting for 5 days so didn't do much exercise too. let's see.. Super impressive. I go to the gym 5 days a week for 2 hours a day and mix my routine up from simple running and free weights, to group class such as bodystep, body attak and body pump. I have cut out carbs except one time on a weekend I allow myself a carby treat :) I drink pretty much only water and eat very healthy.....but unfortunately I don't see the results like I should!! Quite disheartening at times and feels very unfair when you see skinny people who don't work out eating a burger...but hey....everyones different I guess. Will keep pushing on..... x x x I’ve been working out since 2010 and never have I felt so pleased with my body shape not until I started eating very clean. I used to hear from experts that 80% is what you eat and 20% is your workout but never believe it until I’ve embraced it. IT IS TRUE!!! And when you are used to eat clean, surprisingly you don’t crave Sh!t food anymore like I used to. You should not remove carbs in your diet esp that you are doing so much workout. Your body needs carb! We have 2 kinds of carb. Bad and good. You are okay to eat carbs as long as they are good carbs. i.e. Brown for rice, whole wheat for bread, wraps, sweet potato, carb from fruits etc. Breakfast is VERY important too. I used to skip brekkie before but now I eat oatmeal or omelette (white eggs, spinach, red capsicums, etc) eat small portion every 3 hrs, plan your food for the day so you don’t eat anything you can grab in your fridge or desk if you get hungry, feed your muscles with proteins esp after workout, lessen your alcohol intake, and drink soooo much water. Follow these few tips for a week or two and you’ll be laughing; you’ll discover that losing weight is not difficult as we used to think! Also, if you are doing pump make sure you carry heavy weights, you can work this out gradually. The more muscles you have in the body, the faster and easier for you to burn calories/fats. Don’t be scared to get big, we women will never get big like men. DID YOU KNOW? The hormone Testosterone (responsible for the large increases in muscle mass) level ratio in men compare to women’s is 1 is to 16.47 times.

No I’m not overweight but looking at the index of body fat below just add .5% of fat and I am over fat. I want to see if I can, from 28.5%, drop it to 20-19% by consuming clean food and enough exercise in just 5 weeks. I already lost 2% in just a week. To see your abs you don’t need to kill yourself in the gym and do thousands of sit ups and crunches, it’s the fat you have that surrounds your abs that needs trimming, hence body fat if lowered can give you a desiring body. We eat junk food because we mainly crave it. We know they are no good for our health and body but we still eat them because we crave them. We crave because our body actually needs food. Eating small meals every 3 hours helps you feel full all the time, hence, you don’t crave. Result, you don’t eat sh!t. Water helps you feel satisfied too. Water = 0 calories. 3 things you need to start: 1.) You have to have a right mind set 2.) Discipline 3.) And a goal
