Congratulations on your wedding! You can try Paper Lane in town Center on Jumeirah beach road - they have a huge variety of different types of plane and printed papers and card stock. Another option would be Creative Minds - I've never gone there, so don't know much about the place and their prices. Here's their website http://www.creativemindsdubai.com/arts--crafts.html Have you checked Daiso for the decorative items? You'll probably find some interesting stuff there as well at great prices. All the best!

Can you please suggest a place to buy a ready made nut free, gluten free cake? You can try contacting Skinny genie and inform them of the allergies and they should be able to bake a gluten free and nut free cake. They have a 100% gluten free facility and they deliver as well. Just make sure you inform them of the nut allergy as well - from what I know, they are not a nut free facility. http://www.skinny-genie.com/

I've used Index group couple of times for attestation of Indian documents. Just be prepared for a few days delay in getting your documents attested.... there's always some holiday in India which delays the entire process. Here's their website: http://www.indexdubai.com/

I found out the same when I wanted to place an ad on Dubizzle. I instead called up Gulf news and placed an ad in their classifieds - it's free and the ad is posted in the classifieds for three days. You can also repeat the ad again for further three days if needed.

Horrifying couple of days - first Sydney, then Peshawar. Can't believe anyone would target innocent children. Thoughts and prayers with all people who have been affected by this mindless, cowardly act of terror.

Hi What's the procedure if I want to transfer the DEWA account from my brother's name to mine? I already have the tenancy contract in my name and to get the Ejari done, I need the DEWA bill to be in my name as well. We are renting the same apartment as before - I just want to transfer the DEWA account in my name. Thanks!

Usually the Krishna temple in Bur Dubai has some celebrations going on. Also the Sindhi ceremonial hall in Bur Dubai celebrate Janmashtami as well (organized by the Iskcon). Google these to get more information or call them.

am too fat to be coeliac although i do think i have a wheat issue. You could be fat, obese, over weight, normal weight or under weight and still have celiac disease. The belief that you need to be underweight to have celiac disease is a myth. It's best you do the celiac blood test and then if that's negative, the maybe you have non celiac gluten sensitivity. Although, some people who test negative for celiac can test positive for it later (there are a few cases of false negatives).

Thanks Terrible_twos! That's a huge help! I was reading a brochure from 800 pizza and they've stated that they take care of cross contamination. Thanks so much! NKD gave me much grief, looked like a paste of tapioca and rice flour had been spread out and baked :-( Absolutely zero taste. Would you please post a link to the gluten free market online? Thanks so much! edited by Chocobella on 19/05/2014 Here's the link to the online gluten free supermarket: http://www.glutenfree-supermarket.ae It's expensive, but the chef bakes all the gluten free goodies in a 100% gluten free kitchen - so you don't have to worry about cross contamination. Loads of different kinds of breads, muffins, cookies, etc. I've tried her brownie bites which are yummy (they really are bite size)! I also tried the oats and sunflower bread which was good - tasted more like the artisan breads and was quite filling. This is the pizza base I tried: http://www.glutenfree-supermarket.ae/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=599 Another bakery that offers only gluten free products that are made in a 100% gluten free kitchen is Skinny Genie. http://www.skinny-genie.com I've not tried their breads, so can't comment, but their muffins are really nice. I don't mind nkd pizza :) Regarding 800 pizza, maybe you could try going there and ask them to show you how careful they are about avoiding cross contamination? Do they have a separate area where the gf pizzas are made, are the toppings kept separately? Do they have a separate oven? Etc.... I sometimes take slices of gf bread and add tomato purée, toppings and cheese and bake in my small oven for few minutes (until the cheese melts and bread toasts). It tastes just as good as any pizza - after all the real taste is in the toppings and purée :)

The Lunchbox is nice..... Pleasant change from the usual romantic movies. Another one I like is Special 26 - this is not a romantic movie, but a fun one nonetheless.... Again a Bollywood movie that's different.

Russo's New York pizzeria has gluten free pizza - I've not tried it yet, but have heard good reviews. You will find other pizza joints selling gluten free pizzas, but if you have celiac disease, then nkd pizza and Russo's are the only ones that are "safe" ( meaning they take care to avoid cross contamination). Carluccios have a few options for gluten free pastas, so that's something you can try out. Again, they are aware of cross contamination. The best pizza base that I've tried is the one from gluten free supermarket online - it really is the best. You just need to add your tomato purée, toppings and cheese and bake.

I personally think AED 2700 is too much... I had paid AED 2000 four years back and that was when they sent the blood sample to London as this test wasn't done here. Nowadays, the celiac test is done here in Dubai too. You can go to any diagnostic lab and get the test done. Just call up some of them and ask their charges. XY Clinic also do the celiac test - do try calling them (never personally gone there so don't know their charges).

I actually find them on the offensive side and the guy looks like someone has smeared white cream over his face - just looks odd. Of course, being a die-hard Chris Gayle fan am supporting RCB. Did you see Kings XI last night.... wow, fantastic chase. Oh yes, I remember you are a Gayle fan, but he isn't in form at the moment. He didn't do much in the world t20 this time, except for the gangnam style dance after beating the Aussies. I'm supporting Rajasthan Royals because of Dravid. I'll follow him wherever he goes :D Too bad they lost last night to Punjab - I didn't see that match.

There are definitely more gluten free products available now compared to couple of years back. If you're looking for fresh gluten free bread, then you can try ordering online from www.glutenfree-supermarket.ae There's a good variety of breads and cookies, muffins, pizza base, etc. and it's strictly gluten free so there's no risk of cross contamination. The change initiative on Sheikh Zayed road has a huge collection of gluten free goodies. Apart from this a new store called Biorganic also has a good amount of interesting gluten free stuff. You can also check out the Facebook page of gluten free UAE for any other support.

There is a Facebook page called Gluten free UAE (run by Linda) where you can ask questions....loads of help available on that page (where to buy gf food, restaurants that offer gf food, etc.). Coffee mornings were organized by gluten free UAE initially, but now these are organized only when someone requests for one and there are enough people who confirm that they'll attend.

You can find a list of restaurants that serve gluten free food here: http://www.glutenfreeuae.com/where-to-eat.html Also, depends how sensitive your friend is to gluten..... There will be some amount of cross contamination in most restaurants as they are not exclusively gluten free. Also, do read this: http://www.glutenfreeuae.com/information-for-visitors.html

Most of these Bollywood concerts never start on time.... expect to wait for at least over an hour until the concert starts. Most probably SRK will come on stage much later.... so the wait can be rather tiresome! Regarding the crowds - depends which ticket you buy? If you go for the expensive tickets, the crowd should be decent with families. But the cheaper tickets will probably have more bachelors. I've only been to one concert here some 10 years back... so don't really know what the scene is like nowadays.

Avoid all street food. Also avoid fruit and salads that have been cut and kept in the open - in any buffets, etc. You can buy your own fruit / salads and wash and cut. Avoid "cold" foods - like cold salads, chutneys, yoghurt. Fresh juices can also be dicey as they sometimes add water in them. You can eat hot foods in good restaurants. If you're ordering any drink, tell them "no ice" - as you can never be sure what water has been used. Drink only bottled water - make sure it's sealed. Another option would be drinking boiled water - if you have an access to a kitchen.

@aadams - I can only download/upgrade apps when I'm in the UAE - never outside this country. @BubblingCreek - Even if the developer sets the price, shouldn't the price be the same across countries? I wanted to download an app called camera+ which is 0.99 cents in the US, but AED 7.29 here - that's double the original price.

Can someone please let me know a path lab that does tests at a reasonable price? XY clinic used to the celiac profile blood test for Dhs. 500. You can call and check with them their costs. They also have a team of doctors who have a more holistic approach to treating common health problems (never been there, but have heard someone from there on the radio once) http://www.xyclinics.com/ Again, you have to be eating a good amount of gluten for at least 6-8 weeks to get a correct diagnosis.

Yes, there is a running/walking track around Zabeel park - it's a 2km track. Showers? No, unless you want to pay Dhs. 5 to go inside the park and maybe change in the restrooms.... Directions - depends where you are coming from? Do you know where the lulu hypermarket in Karama is? the one next to Marlin furniture? Zabeel park is bang opposite - there's an overhead pedestrian crossing from the Marlin furniture side to Zabeel park. I hope this makes sense!
