Not sure if he is still about, but I used a guy called Jamal. He came with a load of samples from the boot of his car which at first gave me second thoughts, but he designed the curtains I wanted at a reasonable cost and was super efficient. His number just beware of Jamal, he is a crook. gave him our sofas for upholstery and it came back with improper sewing plus the fabric started tearing in less than two months, he refused to fix them and when i wanted to complain to consumer rights i discovered i had no receipt from him whatsoever, so i guess he is clever in what he does... avoid him by all means

Just moved in and thanks to some of your tips I got in touch with JAMAL (050 588 2773). the guy is amazing, came in our flat on tuesday with lots of fabrics for me to choose, gave me a very good price and got back here 4 days later with stunning curtains!!!!!!! Great quality, super service and highly friendly person::))))) ah so glad you like him! he's like family now, he's helped in each of my 3 homes. i recommend him to everyone. reminds me i need to give him a call actually. he was away in palestine but if back that's great. just be ware of Jamal, although he did a good job with my curtains, he messed up the upholstry of my sofas so bad i had to report him to consumer rights.

Hi everyone ! I'm trying to do the math here of how much chemotherapy can cost in Dubai (mom has cancer and I want her to be treated here), the word "expensive" is relative an can mean a different range of numbers to every individual so if you can give me a minimum or maximum figure per session along with the medical provider ,that would be great ! TIA Join "brest friends on FB" They will give support advice on all your questions In 2011 the cost for treatment was anything from USD30,000 to USD60,000 depending upon the type and amount of treatment required so I imagine it will of gone up since then Thank you @sarahlou123 , I'm on the group now ...

You don't mention which type of cancer your mother has but I was diagnosed with non-hodgkins Lymphoma in summer of 2013 here in Muscat. I had eight chemotherapy treatments at an approximate cost of aed40,000 each and I've just completed two years of two-monthly maintenance treatments with Rituximab. Until January 2015 each of these treatments cost equivalent of aed40,000 but the drug producers patent then expired and the cost of each treatment came down to around aed18,000. I guess that different chemotherapy treatments probably have different costs - these are what my treatments cost and I would expect them to be similar in Dubai but, obviously, this may not be the case. I wish your mother and your family all the best ? Thank you @debliz , my mother has stage two breast cancer and there seems to be stage one lung cancer as well (more test are being done to confirm)

i dont think hiring a mould is an available option here...but there are many videos that can show you how to make a number one cake from rectangular/square shaped cakes. Good luck !

yes my little one cries almost every day as i leave to work...it breaks my heart, but i cant just sneak out.. she needs to understand this sooner or later right? she does calm down shortly after i leave ... children forget very quickly if they are distracted with something else :)

it is true that Philippino maids can no longer be hired through agencies (effective June 1st 2014), you can get Indonesians, Sri Lankans, Nepalis in addition to the nationalities you have mentioned.

the first time i used it was fine for 4 yrs , bear in mind that your period will be heavier than what you are used to & possibly more painful. The second time i used it, i fell pregnant after 3 years so i dont really trust it anymore. the cost was 1500 @ Medcare.

im glad to have found this thread since i have the same concern about my maid . she uses her mobile plus home phone a lot during the day and night. she left iron marks (burns) on many of our clothes since she is also on the phone while ironing, would be carrying my little one with one hand and checking FB on her phone uing the other....etc i did tell her that she needs to limit phone use (twice already) to break times and after baby sleeps, but she only did that for a couple of weeks, then back to square one. also, every single night she is on the phone for hours which makes waking up in the morning a struggle for her to get the kids ready to go to school (as my office hours start at 7 am)... luckily , her visa residence visa expires in december and i started looking for another one

it breaks my heart to read things like this in the news, what a sick world that we live in ! i personally do not let my kids go to such toilets on their own, its either me or my husband with them in there! it is tough being a parent . i always remind my kids of mummy's rule number one which is about not talking /taking anything from strangers ...all i get back is a long thread of why's... wondering how protective can i be?

if you want to make the most delicious atayef, i would recommend that you pay "Feras" sweets a visit. They have branches in Qusais, Sharjah & Al Barsha as well. The sell the actual dough (Atayef) -which is delicious- and they sell the cheese (shredded and kept in little plastic containers). This place's dough and chees are the best in town. as for baking them, lightly butter a baking pan and place your stuffed atayef in it then bake for no longer than 15-20 minutes so they dont get all dried up. Feras' atayef cannot go wrong !

it only hit me yesterday, when i saw my younger son waiving goodbye to a friend of his (who's special) as i picked him up from school. I have to explain this to both my kids (8yrs & 4 yrs old) but not sure where to start and what to say. Similarly, my brother in law is also special but he's in his mid thirties. my kids see him only a few time a year , during which im nervous he might get upset if they make a lot of noise or play with any of his video games... any tips ?

I went there with my newborn to use a gift voucher i got from Welcare . the photo shoot went OK , however when i went in for the viewing appointment the photos were not as good as i expected (having seen the albums in their waiting area). they are very expensive (ended up paying 700 on top of the voucher to get 5 medium resolution digital pictures) for no good reason and it will take you three months literally between scheduling an appointment, going for the photo shoot, viewing appointment then finally getting your CD.

i am so sorry to hear about you sister, this is so heartbreaking...she is really lucky to have a sister so thoughtful like you. Doing simple, little things together will mean the world to her i'm sure, or maybe read a book that she likes to her ? making her favorite food ? watching a movie that she likes?

sorry for crashing your thread but I thought this might be useful for any of you or maybe someone you know. i gave birth to my daughter back in December and as you can imagine she outgrew a lot of her clothes (they are a bit thick so its ideal for newborns in the winter) which were barely worn and are in excellent condition. i am willing to give them to anyone who needs them for free. if anyone out here is interested ,send me an email on [email protected]

i delivered on Dec 22 ( i know its been a while but better late than never) and just wanted to say that i had excellent care @ Welcare (in case anyone has questions about Welcare...etc). i was seeing Dr. Janaki throughout my pregnancy but at the time i delivered while she was on her way home (after waiting for me the whole day :) ) ...the attending doctor was great and the nurses were outstanding...Deliviring @ Welcare was the best decision i have ever made...

i am looking for this company that rents out storage cabinets (metal with long legs & a lock) that are placed in the parking lot at your designated car park... its ideal to dump in beach stuff, bicycles...etc instead of taking them up and down from the apartment everytime needed. I do have a tiny storage room in my apartment but its already full and have no space at all for my kids new bikes! they were promoting these last year in the compound where i live but now there is no sign of them, i tried searching the web as well but with no luck either... i hope somebody out there have seen those... thanks

come on people, yes accidents happen but the attitude is unecessary and definitely needs to stop...if she's too proud to be a nanny then why did she accept this job ? life is tough and very often we'll have to accept things and move on. if she cant then its her problem not yours. its not like we get rewarded in our jobs for being rude and not doing our jobs preoperly!

Hi everyone! my due date is on new year's eve..this is my 3rd pregnancy and life is just chaotic at the moment trying to juggle 2 kids & work at the same time while feeling not so great at this stage. im starting week 14 tomorrow and symptoms havent subsided yet.. wondering if this is going to stay all the way through... i used to see Dr. Wafa at Medcare but decided to change to Dr. Janaki @ Welcare, my first appointment with her is tomorrow, i hope it goes well...
