I'd recommend renting an apartment through airbnb.com - great value. We use it all the time, all over the world. We ended up with a great little studio apartment right in the centre of Paris for only $80USD a night. Serviced apartments are great if you've got kids.

I'd be interested to know as well. We are planning a late July trip to Europe and are staying in Paris for three nights. Not planning on spending too much on hotels, but would like to know of safe locations to look at, preferably where parking wouldn't be a nightmare as we're renting a car for our road trip. Many thanks, Rix Get rid of your rental car for central Paris, you totally will not need it! Driving in Central Paris is like watching paint dry... Much better to Metro or walk...

Heya! We own an apartment in the 5th arrondisement & spend our summers there with our toddlers... I think if you only have 3 days in Paris, schlepping out to Disneyland is a waste of time... And Disneyland in June/July will be a nightmare... There is so much to see & do in Paris that you don't really need a theme park! Jardin du Luxembourg in the 6th is a great day out for a 4yo. Pony rides, park, boats on the pond, toddler palyground, swings... Then of course, the Eiffel Tower (plus there is a small, free childrens park with slide & climbing frames etc right near the tower) there is also the Cite des Enfants to visit, and 'The Beach' should also be open along the Seine then... There are sand pits right next to Notre Dame de Paris where we play with the local kids and plenty of opportunities to stop off for coffees, crepes & ice-creams! Look at apartments on haveninparis.com or even air BnB, as hotel rooms are tiny, so an apartment is your best bet... Belleville (whilst quaint) is quite out of the way, so look at staying at either the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,16 arrondisements (avoid 9th, 10th, 11th). Paris is 'safe' but you do need to always lock your doors, keep your handbag safe, watch your kid, take extra care at night etc etc etc- same as any capital city really. Enjoy! It is a wonderful city!

We found an apartment in belleville area. Can you please tell how is that area regarding safety and convenience for public transport. I have also booked for Paris but we will be in France for 3 weeks. I have 3 boys so getting hotels were difficult to find as most only allow 2 kids. I found a few great websites to book apartments airbnb, holidaylettings.co.uk and ownersdirect.co.uk Some of the apartments offer a parking space so you can filter those that do. We love staying around La Defense, you get the metro station within 10 minutes and the RER line gets you to Disney in under an hour. It is not so busy in that area but Paris centre in only 15 min or so by metro. There is also a huge shopping centre next to the train station with a massive supermarket called Auchan. We are spending a week in La Defense but used to live there before Dubai. We are planning a trip to Europe in the end of June. We will be staying in Paris for 3 nights. Need help regarding hotel recommendations, must visit places, etc. We are thinking of getting an apartment kind of accommodation. Anyone have any recommendation for it. Must be a safe location. also it will be good if I can get some idea of which locations are convenient and safe to stay for a family. We have a 4 year old son with us. Not thinking of spending too much on accommodation. Also confused whether to take parispass or just a museum pass and hop on hop off bus tour pass will do. For one day we will be going to Disneyland too. All other tips which you think one must know before going to Paris are welcome. Sorry for so many questions.. TIA Mona

Thanks Emurella for your reply. I think I should take the ParisPass. One more advise needed ladies regarding disneyland. Should we buy the tickets for both parks. DS is 4 years old. DH and I are least interested in the scary roller coaster rides. And in anyway we will not be able to cover both the parks in one day. It's no way you would be able to cover both parks in one day without feeling you got run over by a train. Just do the main one, although the studio one got a lot of fun things for 4 year olds too. You sure need more than one day! We spent 3 days and managed to see it all

Hi The husband and I did Paris last year for 4 days in july and it was beautiful, I highly recommend it. As for hotels we stayed at the Best Western in Trocadero, the room was very small we really only used it to sleep and shower as we were out all the time, but clean and the staff were lovely and very helpful. the window had a view of the Eiffel Tower and there were lots of places to eat and drink as well as a small supermarket all near by. We took the ParisPass and I am really glad we did, we totally got our monies worth out of it. I loved the Big Red Bus tours which we jumped off and on the whole trip and loads of walking in between (take comfortable shoes!) one of the days we walked over 20k in an afternoon (we didn't even realise) if you stop for food and drink it really is worth walking down a couple of back streets where the prices drop consideribly from those right near the sights. Keep a close eye on your valuables there were lots of pick pockets with many clever tricks and we saw a number of people who had been got. The metro system is also very easy to use and a good way to get around town. There is so much to see and do there 4 days really wasn't enough for me and I can't wait to go back! Hope you both have a fantastic time there.
