Having been told by my DH that there isn't any way I'm going home for the summer I am stuck here. He says it will do me good to put up with some discomfort can't say I'm happy at the peospect I hate the sun and intense heat it's already too hot for me. So now how do I meet some ladies who will be here through the summer and not working. The three friends I have made are all leaving in June back sept. HELP feeling really fed up  edited by Delgirl82 on 20/03/2015

Your all making me feel better about the prospect. I'm not a fan of the heat so that does worry me that I'll end up a prisoner in my home. But the sound of staying in nice hotels is good.

Hi been here five weeks and braved my first coffee morning last Thursday. Golf club location was lovely. Still quite lonely but having to wait in for things to be delivered doesn't help the socialising. Will be going again this Thursday. It's ok for the men they go off to work lots to do and people to talk to all day. But it is lonely in a flat in a place you don't know I can go all day with no one to talk to. Husband left today saying have fun, you have got to be joking!

Thanks for the tip re noise and construction. We def wouldn't like that. So shoreline is a better option for sure with all the facilities. Thanks for the advice. Anyone think the marina might be better ?

thanks i will have a look at miller hay. yes boredom is the thing that concerns me most. I'm not one for endless coffee or shopping. so i think i will tire of gym and apartment very quickly. Especially if my husband works long hours.

Good for you give it a try because although you think you'll be tied your probably not going to want to leave baby for a while. Hard to imagine I know. The health benefits to you and baby far out weigh any tie and it's for such a short time. The confidence to do it is the most important thing believe you can and you will

personally i'd say breast feed so much easier especially when travelling, no bottles to make up and carry and always available. feeding a baby is very rewarding, and healthy for both of you.

We are thinking of living in the downtown area as husband will commute to sharjah, have been told that it's nicer for ladies in dubai ? Help please

Oldtimer is right, the best option for a few months is serviced accommodation then you can decide where you want to be located rather than rushing into anything. If you end up renting unfurnished and don't want to spend time looking for furniture there are companies here that sell furniture packages that include everything you need in an apartment or villa down to the sofa, bed, shower curtain, TV and breadboard! I've used Art o Life Dubai http://www.aoldecor.com/ on a couple of occasions and they are great value, very easy to deal with and set everything up for you. Good luck! You talk of serviced apartments where can I find info on these ?
