i Ladies, It is with heavy heart that I post this ad about our live in nanny (kenyan national). She has been with us for 3 years, she is just like any other family member to us. She joined us in Dubai when my daughter was 5 months old who is now 3.5 yrs and my second one (son) is now 22 months old. She is very good at all domestic work, very hardworking (would never cheat), extremely loving and patient with kids, v polite. We moved from Dubai to Turkey 2 yrs ago and we brought her along. Reason we have to let go is that we are moving to Germany now because of my husband's job and there is no way a non eu citizen is granted a nanny/domestic helper visa for germany. We tried all possible legal ways .. Our family is very devastated that she has to go and the least I can do is to find her an equally good home to continue working, as she is very ambitious about her kids studies, they are in good schools back in kenya, she is a widow, 35 years old and would want to see her kids have a better future. She is available once we move to Germany which would roughly be between end july to mid august. Her visa here in Turkey also expires end august so anyone interested in hiring her in UAE can sponsor her from then onwards. Her preference is to work in UAE than Turkey, one reason she will miss us here, other equally important ones are the language barrier here. She knows Dubai very well as a city, has some support system there in terms of church friends and she is a very good practicing Christian. She speaks exceptionally good english and is a very pleasant person to be around. If there was anyway we could manage to get her a visa I would have never let her go, my kids adore her. I guess enough said ... if you need any further details you can post back here This one is my former house girl in Kenya, am currently in Dubai for those who would have any query about her. Madam Njj, wish you all the best! My girl welcome back to Dubai, hopefully you will get a nice family. hey :) yes thats you.. so everyone now you just don't have one reference but infact 2 references for my nanny. this user nanny girl is the one from whom i hired my nanny. she worked with her first and we hired her from her reference. so there you go what better could be than 2 very authentic references. :)

Our Nanny, Kenyan National, 35 years of age, has been a part of our family since the birth of my first child 4 years ago. She joined us in Dubai and moved with us to Istanbul in Feb 2015. The best thing about her is she is a mother herself and is very kind hearted, gentle and a humble lady. Extremely good and competent with kids from the day they are born. I have never felt any fear leaving my kids with her. I also had worked part time for a couple of years when I had my first baby. In terms of housework I would say she would do it so well, that you never have to keep a check or ask her twice. Another really good thing about her is that she speaks extremely good English and she is a quick learner. She learnt my native language quiet a bit by just listening to me while I talked to my kids. It breaks our heart that she cannot move with us to Germany due to the German Visa laws for Non-EU Domestic helper. Our family keeps her very dear to our hearts and we will miss her very much, especially my kids as they are very fond of her. She has been my right hand all these years and I would personally miss her presence in our lives. I wish to find an equally loving family for her where she can add value in their lives with her love and her experience. She is currently with us in Istanbul and is available to start work in Dubai by last week July 1st week August once we have moved. She would like to work in UAE as that is her first preference, and I agree as Turkey has its own challenges. Her visa and travel arrangements will have to be arranged by the new employer. If you are interested kindly drop me a message and we can talk in detail.

hey xN we sure miss each other everytime... well to start off with we are looking at living in a villa so I guess suburbs is the answer.. my husband's work is on europe side so some ppl suggested zekariyakoy? any idea abt it? or can you suggest any other good neighborhood(s)? do u suggest living in gated community or is it even safe to live outsie a gated community.. just to let you knw i have a 16 months old daughter and a second baby due in June Insha Allah.. so not really needing to be close to schools yet but yeah may need a daycare for the elder one to drop off a few hrs a day a couple of times a week.. also in terms of a villa we are taking our maid along to turkey as well, so having maids rooms is a common thing in turkey?? like dubai ?? or wud we need to accomodate her in one of the spare rooms? as we want to get a 3 bed villa with a maids room but if maids room are not a common thing then we will have to go fr a 4 bed (which may turn out to be out of our budget :() .. any websites you suggest for house hunting?? second thing .. any clues abt a good hospital with a good OB and a pediatrician (i love my OB here in dubai n wud miss her dearly :( same goes for my daughter pediatrician )... lastly we are taking our maid along on a tourist visa and then get it converted.. now when i asked at the embassy the lady wasnt sure enuf whether it can be converted while in turkey or wud she need to come bak to dubai and get a work permit sponsored by my husband? do u have any experience of this? enough questions for now.. will keep asking while i keep getting responses from you :) thanks alot...

Hi, I have a very good friend who lives in Istambul so can respond to few questions. Worst thing about Istambul is the traffic. If you don't know Turkish, it is difficult to communicate with locals. With regards to schools, I've heard that you do not have much choice. If you are French, I've heard good things about the Lycee of Galatasaray. Last time I went to Istambul, i was told it was burnt: not sure if it's true and if yes, don't know if it was fixed. You can find easily part-time housemaids who come and clean your house on a part time basis. Good luck. been there once on a business trip so pretty much knw how horrible the traffic is... can i not have a live in maid hired there or can i take along my kenyan maid frm dubai?

Have any of you ladies tried Ship Ace? They seem quite popular on FB and I’ve already had a few bad experiences with Shop and Ship, thinking of giving these guys a try now. If anyone’s had any experiences with them I’d love to know I just googled it and shipping seems more expensive than MyBox but they clearly state that they ship perfumes and makeup whereas MyBox does not. I did email MyBox about it and they said we can ship those items so I placed a small order to try it out. Will confirm if it works :) Hey Flames I also ordered some dermalogica stuff with my box lets see if it comes or not.. although mine is close to 100$ i hope it does... tell me some good sites to order perfumes from .. better so discounted ones... i need some of my favs :p but i wud like a cheaper deal ...waiting for your reply ;)

I emailed Rosemarie and she said "no extra charges or limitations. Just ask the merchant to pack it well." That means it's time to dig a bigger hole in the wallet :P hahhaa... am abt to order some moisturizers n cleansers.. waited on it last night after i saw ur post.. however my clothes order is 220 USD .. now I only wanna order a cleanser n a moisturizer but they are worth bat 80 USD .. so if i combine the 2 shipments into 1 shipment i would be charged customs right? the limit with customs is 250 or 275 USD? and I just don't wanna have a separate shipment fr the liquids .. do u think my box ppl wud lwt it stay there till i order some more stuff with which i combine this 80 USD Shipment? how long would they hold it.. P.S thanks fr referring the ebates site.. i joined it using ur link, however we had already placed RL order directly.. :( so won't be getting the 2.5% cash back this time.. :/

I have ordered from RL US as recently as last week to be delivered to my mum's US address as well as to the Aramex SnS address, I just put the US delivery address as the "billing" address even though it's a UAE credit card. I do this all the time when ordering from US sites and have so far never had problem. So even if i am delivering to shop n ship address instead of my uae billibg address i shud put the sns us address as billing address too and it shud work? Really? Wow thanks :)

thanks flames and horizon mum you have been both great help to convince me to rather go fr my box. i just spoke to Rosemary and she confirmed that here in UAE the allow makeup, perfumes, and liquids to be delivered with no issue. for you blog the customs limit is 275 USD which she told me. 2 more questions I have if you guys can help answer.. 1. I can ship to this my box address both from online and physical stores right? 2. do you guys have experience of ordering from Ralph lauren online US store, if yes did you use UAE credit card coz about year or so ago i tried to order to a US address with UAE cc with UAE billing address but US shipping address but they won't accept the cc saying the billing address has to be a US address as well :( now the reason am going from my box is to order RL clothes for my husband and daughter from their online store. But if they don't accept the CC then there is no point fr me to create an account :( which is a shame .. plz respond if you have expreniced ordering with RL

hi... Children's City is in Dubai Creek Park... you basically hire out the facility (room) and then bring in all your own catering, décor, entertainment, etc... there's a limit on how many people they can accommodate though so you need to keep that in mind... you said you had 30-35 kids... and I'm assuming that many of them will be accompanied by at least one parent... so that will automatically bring up your guest list by a fair bit... you might find it more comfortable to be accommodated inside a party hall or restaurant or hotel ballroom (of course all depending on your budget)... would be happy to give you more advice on this... can you pls pop me a mail on [email protected] many restaurants have party halls that you can hire for the purpose... inclusive of food and venue it will work out to be approx. 65/- onwards per head... and as the venue improves so will the per head price... or maybe you have a friend who has a party hall in their building or community that you can hire for the same purpose? always worth checking out... I still feel it might be quite warm to have the party outdoors in September (even if it's late evening)... so perhaps the best for you and the other guests would be an indoor venue... Cheeky Monkey are great... but if you're budget for entertainment is lesser you can still find alternate suppliers at more competitive rates... also for cakes the choices are endless... once you decide whether you prefer fondant or buttercream cakes (and of course of your budget for this) I will be in a better position to advise you of the best place to get this let me know when you've sent the mail and then I'll take off my address from here... thanks a lot u can take it off i will email you in peace at night when my lil monster is sleeping.. :p edited by njj on 25/06/2014

I have no used the Aramex version of Shop & Ship but remember thinking it was expensive... so went for an alternate provider offering similar services... it's called Postaplus and the product is called MyBox... similar concept where they give you one address in US and another in UK... I've bought lots of stuff online and had shipments delivered on time (and if not, then their customer service staff have been quite helpful)... their initial payments and charges per kg are cheaper than what Shop&Ship were quoting... hey there would you recommend postaplus over shop n ship?

I had the same issue with Ralph Lauren, they dont like SnS address either, some dont like freight forwarders at all. I ordered from US Ralph Lauren a few days ago and it was accepted and shipped no problem... hey bella did you use a UAE credit card to shop at US RL? coz i tried and they won't accept a non US credit card :/

Hi njj. The one time registration fee is just that - "one time" - meaning you don't have to pay again. Here's the rate calculator from the Aramex site that can give you an idea of how much your shopping will be. http://www.aramex.com/express/rate_and_time.aspx I try and look for sites that have free shipping, so you don't have to pay for it to be shipped to your Aramex SnS address, only the shipping from your Aramex address to your home, and this saves you a wee bit of cash. I've ordered face wash from the UK before and never had to pay extra. Hope that helps :-) thanks a lot Sam... i asked abt the face products coz i saw that they have this sns select which apparently seems to be a new category where all these commodities fall like perfumes n stuff..

It's still going to be pretty hot at the end of September if you are doing a day time party and there are going to be young children there. I've used Cheeky Monkey party organisers lots of times and they are brilliant, totally recommend them. Someone on here recently said you can hire party rooms at Children's City for a very reasonable cost. Another alternative would be at a children's play area although that is never that much fun for the adults. It's not going to be a memorable 1st birthday for your daughter because she isn't actually going to remember it, I'd therefore just do something that will be fun for you. If you are enjoying yourself, she will be too. yes i know she won't remember it but we wanna create the memories thru lots of fotos n stuff... wheres children;s city? n how much does cheeky monkey cost for such a bday event? any alternatives?

Hi All We have recently given up our gym membership and want to buy a treadmill that we will be able to take back to Canada with us when we go. Can anyone recommend a good brand? And should we buy new or look for a second-hand one? What can we expect to pay for a decent one? Sorry for all the questions but I have never owned a treadmill before. They have them in Carrefour for around 899 AED but I suspect they're not that good. Any help appreciated! Hi i have a very good treadmill mint condition which i am selling. If interested let me know and we can talk and arrange a viewing for you.

My LO attends KidsKare on JLT (the same building where Park&Shop is). We like it and it's still abit cheaper than Rainbow valley. I don't know from which age they accept infants, though I saw babies there. My LO is in a tot group. They have nice indoor facilities and staff is also very friendly and warm. Hi thanks for ur response. Can you tell me which cluster or building is it? Wat are their timings? How long has ur LO been going there? Any great positives or negatives u have for it?
