Hi Ladies,
I've noticed quite a few posts from ppl looking for sewing machines, thread and textile souks and was thinking it might be nice to set up a sewing / craft group??
We could meet every 2 weeks or something, shapre tool, ideas, patterns and give each other help with releated problems.
Would anyone be intrested in getting this going? There are also a few web sites which help u put this sort of group together so might be fun !? Let me know x

I might bring it all. Supplies here are extremely basic, at first-class. If you're picky approximately your thread then deliver that as nicely - I have not seen Guetermann here, even though I have not looked very tough either. You can find here https://www.embroideryguidance.com lots of sequins, hoops, beads, trims and crystals. . .However in reality carry some thing which you would not need to do with out + refills/extras.

Hi I know this is a VERY old thread but I would definitely be interested in joining a sewing/craft group - does anyone know if this one got off the ground, is still running, how to contact, or any other groups existing? feeling hopeful :)

Hi ladies Thanks for your replies. Sorry for the delay in replying. Anyone know how I can find out more about Doha Mums? I've checked the groups info on this site but can't see them listed. (I've got the info for AWA and TLG so will try them too.) Thanks :)

Hi HobbitGirl! Doha Mums JUST reintroduced a craft group! It's not specific to needlework, though, in case that matters. If you are in town then join DM so you can hop onto the craft forum :)

@bliqat I didn't check the site yesterday so didn't know that a get together was planned. Sorry I missed it - did anyone else show up? If so, do you have a date and place for the next one?

@bilqat - yes, we would totally post it! We just need some way to connect EW and DM since the DM folks typically RSVP on our private website. Maybe for each event the hostess could receive the RSVPs via email?

Good to know! What about things like self-healing boards for rotary cutters, etc. I bought mine from Jarir but that was a long time ago. Things appear, then disappear and you just don't know if they'd be back in stock. Craft supplies are extremely limited and poorly stocked, so bring them over if you can. edited by sophie on 29/06/2011

Wow, I havent checked in for a few days and there s been lots going on:) Great to see ! Bring as much as u can I would say, especialy patterns, I still havent come across one over here although fabric etc supplies are ok. There is a shop in the souk opp souk waquif that sell Janome machines, so if your needed fixing, they would come in handy - but bring your machine - there are lots of long days and nights and its good to be able to do something to entertain yourself andmake the new apt/villa a bit more homely. On the group organisation front, I think Aug would be great - Ramadan so shorter hours, ppl might have a bit more spare time. Maybe to meet in a coffee shop first for an introductory meeting, then we could organise a house rota and maybe keep it to host provised Tea/ Coffee and somethingy naughty and then switch it around every 2 weeks or month, depending on what ppl fancy? How bout Aug 2nd - Monday we met somewhere at 7pm and take thing from there??? If i get a few more responces here ill see about putting a formal group on EW site (not sure how,but ill figure it out!) edited by bilqat on 29/06/2011
