The best brunch I have found with kids is at Movenpick, Ibn Battuta. Dubai Parks and Resorts has Legoland, Legoland waterpark and Motiongate. They are all usually quiet. There is also the new La Mer development which is nice to wonder around. Nice beaches, restaurants and shops.

Prices have come down considerably lately. Rents will follow soon hopefully! There are issues associated with buying such as; The market fluctuates considerably. Some people make a huge amount of money, some lose a huge amount of money. It is not as stable as the UK for example. The market moves slowly. If you want to sell up be prepared for it to take years! If you buy a property with a tenant in place then you would have to give them a years notice before you could move in. You would need to be sure you are buying a vacant property. The value of the property varies hugely from area to area. The price you see is the price you pay to own it but remember there are also lots of fees to be added on. You wouldn’t want to buy in the wrong place! Some areas have been built much more cheaply than others which can lead to huge maintenance bills. It’s also worth remembering that it is illegal to be in debt in the UAE. If you found yourselves unable to pay the mortgage then you could end up in a lot of trouble. I think this is a huge reason that expats don’t buy. You also say “DP” so I presume you aren’t married? Although many people do cohabit here it is worth remembering that it is illegal to live together if you are not married. You would not be able to buy a house together.

Sadly, I don’t think it does get any easier. I’m losing some great friends this time too. Now my daughter is 8 I find it’s harder to meet other mums. I don’t have any advice other than to suggest getting out there and meeting new people, I joined the desert hash which is a social group that meet up every Sunday in various locations throughout Dubai. We do a run or walk then plenty of time for socialising. Through that I find we constantly have invitations to parties, brunches and all sorts! It’s not for everyone but you can take a look at www.deserthash.org and see what you think. You would be welcome to come along and give it a try!

There are quite a few showing on property finder. This one seems to suit all your needs - https://www.propertyfinder.ae/en/rent/villa-for-rent-dubai-jumeirah-4391790.html it says it's in Jumeirah 3 but it is just across the road from umm sequim 1.

Emaar usually hand out signs that you can hang outside to let people know if you welcome trick or treaters. The general rule is that if the outside lights are off then you don't knock! Tons of houses took part last year! Just be prepared for the hoards that knock on your door! We had a huge salad bowl filled with sweets and they went in 30 minutes! I had to go buy more!

It gets easier! In my first week I managed to drive into the side of a bus! I had never driven on the right hand side of the road! Then my husband went to work away leaving me with our 4 year old daughter in this terrifying and unfamiliar place. The school announced they weren't ready to open so I had 2 extra weeks to try and fill my daughter's days. Then I got lost trying to get her to her school induction and ended up 2 1/2 hours late! I ended up hiring a taxi to guide me there! Since then I have dealt with ant invasions, cockroach infestations, learning the heat can actually melt pictures on T shirts (and can undo glue on anything in the sun!), A/C that suddenly packs in, extractor fans that blow sewage smells INTO the bathrooms, floor drains that back up... BUT In two years I have encountered no end of friendly people, discovered the two amazing contrasts to this place - from glam hotels and restaurants to the rich historical culture of Dubai in the old part of town. I've learned the only way to be happy is to laugh about everything.

I don't have kids at Safa but hear it's a lovely school. Commuting there from Business Bay would be relatively easy - although getting out of Business Bay takes some time as there is only really one way out but loads of ways in! From Greens and Marina it would take longer but manageable.

I didn't realise the reason that red oxo was no longer available was due to it not being halal. Have the ingredients changed? I last bought it in spinneys maybe a year ago, it wasn't in the non-Muslim section. They sold out very fast though! I must add it to my list of things to bring back from the uk!

I think people from different springs will tell you different things! I used to live in springs 8 and loved it. Decent pool and park plus a smaller park just over in springs 9. Nice lakes to walk around. Springs 9 doesn't have pool but it isn't far to springs 8 pool. Springs 7 has a pool but is quite noisy with the construction going on at the side. I hear springs 14 is very nice but I don't know it myself. I don't know any of the others enough to comment.

That everyone is rich, all women spend their days having mani pedis in between sunbathing. Everyone has designer shoes and handbags. You can't drink alcohol. They chop hands off there and then for stealing and all expats must be accustomed to seeing this in daily life! Oh and it's near Saudi

I bought DD a bubblebum for travelling this summer. She is nearly 5. It is great, however, it is quite uncomfortable for long journeys. I used it simply to get the hire car from the airport to where we were staying then switched to the booster that my parents have for her. It's great for using in Dubai when you know you will be getting a taxi home from somewhere. It's small enough to fit in my huge handbag! I doubt you'd fit two in a handbag though! For their ages I would suggest the hard one that has been recommended already.

You need to look at the star rating rather than the factor. Every bottle should have between 1 and 5 stars. The best are those with 5 stars. I'm pretty sure banana boat is only rated a 3 for most of their products. If he is getting burnt then it would be wiser just to keep him out of the sun or use a UV suit to cover his skin. Loose fitting cotton clothing also helps and try to get him to wear a hat. Preferably with a wide brim or the flap that covers the back of his neck. Even if sunscreen says it lasts for 8 hours or is waterproof etc, it is still a good idea to reapply frequently. To effectively cover the whole body a standard bottle should only last 6-8 applications. Most people simply do not apply it thick enough for it to be the correct factor.

I've only been to 1 friday brunch and a few cheap and cheerful evening brunches when we've had DD with us. She loves being able to pick and choose her food. the novelty hasn't worn off for her, but then again, she is only 4! I do find them very handy for splitting the bill with other people!

I've seen tesco in quite a few of the choithrams. Most of the stuff that is tesco branded seems to just be their value range, which is far more expensive here, so a bit pointless! i can't say I miss any tesco branded products. I do miss their prices though!

A taxi driver told me it was the worst he had seen since just before the "crash" in 2008. He told me how bad driving standards had become recently. 2 minutes later a car ran into the back of him. The irony was not lost...

This is the exact reason why I love my kindle. It is linked to my uk account so I buy kindle books at the uk price. I also browse books then add them to my wish list and buy them when the price has dropped. I love having the physical book but the cost here becomes too much. I do stock up on proper books when I'm in the uk though!

Thank you very much but that is the old song. It's the current one I'm after. It starts "driving in the morning on your way to class, the school run run run the school run song. Listening to a nutter and a Geordie lass, the school run run run the school run song." I just can't make out all the words in the next part! I've tried many google searches and YouTube searches but can't find the lyrics written anywhere.

Do you mean you are waking up to roll him off his front on to his back? Once a baby can roll there really isn't much point trying to make them sleep on their backs. Put him down on his back but honestly, you can just leave him to it now. It might just be how he is most comfortable.

So yo signed a. Document that was written in Arabic that had your bank's letter head on it? Did you give him any details of your bank, phone numbers, your personal details etc? I can't think what the scam could possibly be. I agree with fairydust that you need to track down the man and find out what you signed.

Try baby Vicks vapour rub on the soles of her feet. Sounds completely crazy but it works like a charm! Slather her feet in it and put some socks on her. Just remember to wash it off in the morning so she doesn't go sliding everywhere!

We only moved here 3 weeks ago and I thought I would easily find a sunhat for DD. I was surprised to find that shops here stock the same seasons as back home (uk) at the same time even though the climate is vastly different! They really seem to be missing a trick! I found one in one of the sports shops in ibn battuta mall not too far from the food court. I can't remember the name I'm afraid! I saw plenty of places selling caps but I wanted a floppy hat! It's the only place I have seen one.

I believe, but may be wrong, that you can only catch each strain of the virus once. I think there are two or three different strains. If it is the same strain he has already had he can't get it again but can get each of them once.
