I have the NBD card and use it like. Debit card.....top it up with cash as and when so never owe anything on it.. Or if used for an emergency paid off straight away....I get skyward miles on my statement and transfer them very few months to my Emirates account..had lots of flights and upgrades over the last 10 years What do you mean you transfer them? Shouldn't it be automatic? They appear on the card statement and you have to transfer them to your preferred airline...you can do it online but sometimes we have to call and get them transferred ...it's not automatic...you can choose which loyalty programme you put them in. Edited to add we have the Titanium credit card not a skywards credit card. edited by cat-trax on 04/11/2014

Hi, my husband is there at the moment staying in a company villa with other guys....doesn't seem to be any problem with it....when we lived there previously lots of bachelors shared villas although they were in a separate part of the compound and usually worked for the same company. Hope this helps.

Stayed in Bracknell in May for a golf event...no high end shops and a rather depressing shopping centre....Reading is not far away and easy to get to by rail....London is easy to get to as well and only an hour away.

I went through this after I had my knee rebuilt...no weight bearing for 12 weeks..I could get around on elbow crutches but it was so frustrating not being mobile. To combat the boredom I started doing crafts...it was just before Christmas so got all the supplies I needed and made Christmas cards, bead jewellery as gifts....it's something you can involve your kids in as well. At the weekends we went to the mall got a wheelchair and lunched and shopped...thinking back I should have hired a wheelchair for use at home as it would have meant getting around easier. Hope you get better soon.

We sold our car recently....it had 4 months left until it was to be re registered...you must have it tested when you go to the RTA ....if the new buyer knows it's not road worthy before he buys it then you should ask The RTA what the procedure is...a friend was in the same position but she was selling to a dealer and the car was being exported...your best source of info will be from the RTA in Barsha.

Hi we have a home there...we were regular visitors over a 25 yr period and loved it.....we will retire there eventually.....the main things for us is that is is unspoilt ...no crazy property expansions and mostly low rise. Cost of living is very reasonable and eating out needn't be expensive , we love the local owned restaurants with few frills and fantastic food. The Portugese people are very friendly and helpful. The tolls are not very popular but we know a few back roads so it has never bothered us. The weather is better than the UK . It can get very busy in summer but we prefer the off seasons . Can't wait to get back. Hope this helps.

Hi...if you have a loan on the car this must be cleared before you can sell it ...if the loan is cleared the bank will give you a clearance letter to present at the RTA when you sell it on. edited by cat-trax on 16/07/2014

Cat-trax -- That occurred to me as well -- that it being the recessed light. But wouldn't it stop if all lights were turned off. When I tested this morning, nothing was on or running before I actually turned the main power breaker switch. I guess I will look up into the ceiling and then call for electrical service . So strange. Thanks all. If I remember correctly there are transformers that control the power to the lights..even if the light was off the transformer would still be connected to the power...ours had a fault and needed replaced...only found out bout them when the lights needed replaced . Hope you get it resolved .

Do you have halogen recess lights in that room? We had them in the Greens and there is a small transformer in the roof space that runs them....that might be the noise you are hearing.

Hi, make sure your movers are affiliated to a professional body in the UK....we used Globalpack and were ripped off...paid for door to door and after it was held hostage in the Uk for a month because uk delivery people were not paid by them ..it was left out in the street..had to take it up 3 flights of stairs ....check them out before you ship ..cheapest isn't always best..good luck

I had the same experience with Global Pack ...I shipped 25 boxes door to door but it was stuck in London for weeks. Turns out they hadn't paid the company who deliver to the house. When it was delivered they left it curb side as Global pack didn't pay them door to door...... I had to unpack and carry my stuff up 3 flights of stairs...... I feel your pain but these companies can rip you off and you can't do a thing about it......you need to do a thorough check of credentials before you ship .........next time mine goes as airfreight. Then I know I have more control over it. To add..I bombarded the UK handlers with phone calls until they gave me a delivery date......even called the Managing Director late at night to get updates.......he wasn't happy but it worked . edited by cat-trax on 23/10/2013
