Hi

Can anyone recommend an all inclusive/adults only hotel in the Maldives and one which is a boat transfer - not small plane transfer. It's for our 30th wedding anniversary next month. Thank you.

February 2015 stayed at the centara Ras Fushi resort only approx 20 minutes from Male by boat , children have to be over 12 but we saw none at all for the full week. It was paradise.

www.meeru.com - has EVERYTHING and more, with All inclusive options too Have a look at Amilafushi too - a new hotel opened up, not sure if its by boat though. Other good ones are Centara (10mins by boat) and Bandos - but not sure if they are all inclusive. You don't really need to go AI unless you are thinking to drink well - most full board options are OK, and the drinks are not as expensive as you think - check the difference between FB and AI and then see if you will drink the difference ;)

Look for resorts that don't have any organised activities for kids, even if they welcome kids. We are looking at Maldives too (with kids) and I have excluded all the resorts that don't have kids club, I also don't want a seaplane ride. A lot of the very high end resorts that I looked at don't have organised kids activities, so I would imagine that would mean there won't be too many kids.

There are only 2 adult only resorts in the Maldives and both are a seaplane transfer. The best option a speedboat ride away from the airport is Baros that has an over 8s policy, meaning no smaller children. Baros doesn't offer AI. The best meal plan for this resort is B&B unless you intend to eat 3 course meals every day. B&B also allows you to eat where you want rather than being restricted to 1 restaurant. Room service on your deck is very nice, without the price tag of the special meals on the beach they offer. Another (expensive) option is Huvafen Fushi. Kids are allowed, but they are not encouraged. There are some larger resorts with adult only sections, but are a seaplane journey away from the airport. If you can manage the seaplane then Komandoo (40 mins) and Maafushivaru (25 mins) are both currently over 18s. Both have good reefs, food at Komandoo is better, but Maafushivaru is a prettier and smaller island.

Baros is just a short boat trip away from Male and during the 3 weeks we were there (albeit 1998), no children were there.

We have been to the Maldives a few times and never felt any of the islands were over run with children so I wouldn't let that put you off too much. We prefer all inclusive but always stayed on an island that needs a short sea plane transfer so can't help with the ones with boat transfer. I would try and narrow down your search by finding out which operate only boat transfers first. Also if you are planning to go over the Easter holidays I would book soon as its one of the most popular times to visit.

Meeru Island is a boat transfer and has an all inclusive option. Not adults only, however couples rooms & bar/restaurant are at one end of the island and families at the other. We (couple) had the perfect holiday there.
