Hi All, Does anyone know if you can bring fully iced and decorated birthday cakes back to DXB on Emirates flights from the UK? Rumours that some airlines do not allow iced birthday cakes, TIA :birthday::party::balloon::gift:

Wasn't there a whole thread on this not that long ago? Yep.... Vaguely remembering it. Found it....... http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic240969-gross-or-not.aspx I thought I had commented but hadn't. Well here goes.......... I'm a FTM and I cannot stop kissing my gorgeous baby girl. I'm so in love with her and kiss her relentless throughout the day. Poor mite. I do kiss her all over and particularly on the mouth. 1 I think it's natural 2.It is building up her immunity 3. She's mine. Anyone that looks at this as anything other than pure and innocent is seriously messed up in the head. Had LO been a boy would have made no difference and I would be exactly the same. I will continue to do this until my child shies away from me be that 3, 13 or 23 or 30! People need to mind their business. Incidentally Daddy doesn't kiss her lips as a rule. 1. Daddy works and meets lots of people on a daily basis. 2. He's away a lot from her and may have germs 3. He shaves therefore has stubble- spiky, plus Aftershave on mouth area. These are the only reasons and we've never discussed this. It would not bother me/us if he did peck his Daughter on the mouth anyhow and I expect he will once we are home and we see him every day. My view and my view only. Outside of us I believe close family should only kiss babies on the top of their forehead.

Hi All, Has anyone recently seen the OXO concession stall near to IKEA in Festival City Mall? There was a concession in MOE maybe two years ago, but that ceased and the last time I needed an OXO product I headed over to FC. I know that ACE stock some OXO items but I specifically want Baby Products and know that the concession stocked them. TIA I was last at festival centre maybe three weeks ago and it was there: I'll be heading there this week and I'll update you if you like/can wait that long! Thank you yellowedbetter that would be great :)

Very concerned about expiry dates on some food items. I was led to believe that eggs had a use by date of two to three weeks. Please correct me if I am wrong. So I just wondered why when I go into shops here the printed expiry date for eggs is about 3 months!? Very strange. I know how you feel and it took me a while to feel confident buying eggs. When I compared the use by date comparisons in the UK. Eggs never had more than 2 weeks on them. That being said I've never had a bad egg and tend to have a rummage for the most recent produced/imported date stamp on eggs. The stock control staff in all supermarkets here aren't always great at putting the oldest products at the front to be sold first. So just check your dates carefully. On a side note the issue that has been raised about eggs on here is the tastelessness and the smell that lingers on crockery etc. I've found my preferred stockist and stick to them.

Tips for travelling with newborn. Have nerves of steel to handle all the stares when the baby start non-stop crying near the end of flight. I never understand why people aren't more understanding or considerate. They can use ear plugs and or noise cancelling headphones. Babies cannot fathom what's going on. Im just so glad that you hardly experience blocked ears on the A380 for when I do the DXB-UK-DXB flights with my baby later on this summer. Hopefully my LO will be a complete Angel and if not I'll start glaring back at anyone that stares in our direction :-)))) Or, perhaps you could just give them an apologetic smile and recognise that other people, even if they have been through the same experience, do not enjoy the sound of a screaming baby. You never know, if you don't GLARE, you might get a sympathetic and possibly even helpful response. I'll be too busy tending to my baby to be giving anyone but her smiles, I find babies don't even have to be screaming these days before people are looking at parents in disdain!

We stayed at The Chava Resort at Surin Beach in Phuket when our children were 2,4 & 6 and it was perfect. The apartments were lovely and the pool area was fantastic. Some ground floor apartments have their own pools which we didn't choose having young children. There was a great open style restaurant by the pool that you could either eat at tables poolside or they would bring it to your room. You could order from the menu or they would make whatever you wanted. The beach was across the road and through a small park, fine with a buggy. Plenty of restaurants along the beach front. We went in July, I don't remember mosquitos being an issue at all and I was pregnant so not using any deet. There was a car hire place a few doors down and a great bakery in the hotel next door. It was the most relaxed, easy holiday we've done with children and they loved it too. Thanks Daza also had this resort saved on my list. It's good to know that you were satisfied with this resort as a family.

We went to Phuket when Son was 6 months old and it was fabulous. Direct flight on Emirates. We stayed at Anantara Villas which were fantastic. The hotel provided everything we needed for an infant (high chair, cot, bath, products, etc) there was even an Inroom dining menu for infants! Plus each villa has its own pool which was ideal. Highly recommend it. ETA.. To get around we hired a car and driver from the hotel (for the day) this enabled us to ensure or son was always strapped into his car seat but we could leave it in the car (unlike if we'd have used taxis) Hi Coffeemate, We've stayed at the Anantara Riverside and most recently Siam Bangkok so know and like the brand. Thank you for quick response. Were you able to walk around with a buggy and go out for dinner outside of the resort? We really like to do that. You mentioned the Inroom dining menu for infants, can you recall what type of food was on there? Really appreciate your help. I don't want to have to take my blender with me ?

Now that we have an infant daughter our holiday destination has to be given some more considerate thought and planning in advance. We have travelled throughout SE Asia, we love the cuisine, the architecture, beach life and the people and culture. So that's our preference.(we've also travelled throughout Europe, so not an option this year) Some factors that are very important 1) Daughter will be following Baby Led-Weaning. 2) We don't like to do All Inclusive as a rule and like to try different restaurants/markets and where the locals eat to get the full experience. 3)Mosquitos - some of the hotels we've stayed at ambivalent to minimising mosquitos safely. Lights, doors left open when housekeeping servicing room. 4) Safe pedestrianised walking areas for us to use the buggy at nights So we've provisionally looked at Hua Hin and Phuket in Thailand. We've ruled out Vietnam as its too far to travel to the beaches resorts in a car and we don't want to do a connecting flight. Anyone been in the same situation and can advise on resorts/ hotels in either Hua Hin or Phuket that would fit our needs. Thanks A bunch ( not asking for much am I ?)

i believe i've seen it at Just Kidding (is that the boutique shop you're referring to in Al Wasl?) they have website you can check, or give them a call they're pretty awesome and helpful, i am a bit of an obsessive shopper from them...lol Thank you, I've checked the website and sent them a what's app. Website says 'coming soon' and no reply to what'sapp as yet. I wasn't thinking of JK at Safa, sorry my description of location must be off. The independent shop is on the opposite side of the road to where Choitrams is Al Safa in the parade of shops there......... The boutique shop I was thinking of was Little Souq.com. Managed to purchase the Nuna Leaf at Just Kidding after all. Wasn't my first choice of colour, however on reflection the colour way will blend more inline with our furniture than my first choice. John Lewis UK had the Nuna Leaf Curve on an exclusive offer of £120 but was currently unavailable. Then it increased to £160 but was still showing as unavailable. Only now to be removed from the site all together. So the JK discounted deal is a lot less hassle.

Hi All, Does anyone have a local number for any Choitrams near Safa Park &/or Lulu's Al Barsha? I need to speak to a member of staff at Choitrams & Lulu regarding imported milk formula that I'm trying to source. I've looked at their websites and product not listed (however a previous poster had said as much) I've tried the numbers (from abroad) listed on websites and they are not in service. TIA Update- managed to speak to some really helpful staff members at Choitrams today?

Hi, I am starting to get desperate as I only have 1 box of Aptamil First Infant Milk left and a hungry baby who wont have any other formula... does anyone know where I can get this from? I have been Spinneys, waitrose, carrefour... I am starting to panic that I wont have any formula for my little one. Thanks in advance URGENT MUMS INFO REQUIRED.........Resurrecting this old post as I am now in this situation. Can anyone confirm whether Lulu's Choitrams &/or Life Pharmacy still stock the Aptamil 1st Infant Milk UK Powder. Not LOCALLY Made Aptamil First. Need to know urgently down to my last 5 boxes but will order from UK if it's a negative for DXB stockists. TIA Hi, If it's very urgent you could try calling them and check. Should of said I am out of the country, currently in India so can't call numerous retailers from here. It would cost a fortune and I'll get the "yes Ma'am we have it" and it'll be the locally made!!!!! I would prefer to hear from Mums out there but thanks Sourskittle for your quick reply. ??

I am planning to make my home a bit more arty and I am looking for two white tissue boxes I can draw on. They should be of a Material I can paint on.... any idea to check for something like that? I have to admit I haven't checked any art/ creative shop yet. I found some beech wood tissue boxes in Tchibo, which house my Carrefour tissues nicely. They sit on a very stylish glass coffee table atop my fab woollen John Lewis rug and are in arms reach when I have a sniffle from the too harsh air con? They may be lacquered though so you'd have to strip back. Alternatively see if you could get some made. The only issue I have is that the tissues I buy the box dimension is slightly bigger so I have to cut one end slightly. Needs must.

I think "tissue boxes" went out of fashion a few years ago. Actually I think they look better than the cardboard box sitting on a coffee table or surface. My house and apartment are very stylish, so it's all about personal taste?

Especially miss the Madinet branch. Always had a good meal in there. Wonder if the likes of The Scene at Pier 7 has attracted a lot of their custom. To be honest only been to the SAB twice and not a huge fan of the staff tbh.

Dear ladies, please advice what to do. My husband wants us to separate. Because this goes for while, he has another woman, I was very patient but today I replayed to him - ok. You file the divorce. he agreed. We have 2 boys 3 and 5 years old. I cannot support them financially myself. WE are both British. He is by birth. I am by naturalization. What to expect? Thanks in advance for any advises. Furthermore if you are British by Naturalization, I'd suggest you start getting legal counsel (use his money, I'm sure as h377 he's not thinking twice about spending ££££ on his bit on the side entertaining her!) and sort yourself and you children out. That's your duty to them. Stop giving him all the power. He won't seem so attractive to his woman when he's paying through the nose- despicable she is!

why would you want to stay with a man who a) doesn't want to be with you b) has no respect for you Your husband will be financially responsible for the children if you separate and for providing a home for them. You can then get a job to help. Totally agree with Izzy, furthermore you don't know the diseases and risks your dirtbag of a husband is risking on his own health let alone yours! As a daughter of a woman who put up with her husbands infidelity for most of my childhood, as soon as I had a voice I told my mother to get rid of him. The lies deceit and disrespect is unfathomable,it's not a positive image to be showing to your children.

How did it turn out LittleMissPerfect? Fingers crossed! I'm about to start an IVF cycle with Fakih. Anyone starting treatment soon here? So after an initial BFP result after our third IVF attempt at the 20 day scan there was no sac visible. It's took a long time to get over this and as we had no more emmbies stored. We decided to go through an IVF cycle once more but to use a surrogate mother to carry our embryos. Now we have a healthy DD, she's 10 weeks old and thriving. Feel so blessed and fortunate that we did not falter and made our decision to do so when we did. Surrogacy abroad has been the most challenging and frustrating scenario ever, but I would do it again in a heartbeat if we could. Wishing all you mummies in waiting love and positivity ?✨?

My name is Sandrine, mom of Lucia Maria, premature baby born 29w+4 that died of an IVH grade 4 on the 10th of November 2015. After 51 days in NICU (neonatal Intensive Care Unit) in Mediclinic city hospital in Dubai. Lucia was my first baby. And the pain of loosing her in such awful circumstances was more than I could bear. But the moms in NICU kept me going. What kept me going was the power to help other moms like me. Because the NICU world is the most frightening one you can enter as a new mom. You most likely had a C-section done as an emergency like me, you are not ready to have your baby, your hormones are crashing down, you cannot touch your baby, plus you need to pump every 3 hours and the lack of sleep doesn’t help. I made a promise to my daughter to make her little life count for something. To leave a print, a mark on the earth… and that’s where this guide I created with the help of amazing moms comes from. [url=http://www.nicudubai.wordpress.com'>[b'>www.nicudubai.wordpress.com[/b'>[/url'> is the link to the blog where everybody can download the guide freely. It recapitulates everything a new mom entering an NICU should know: – what support groups you can contact here in Dubai – the common rules in NICU – what happens the first day you leave the hospital and come back at home alone without your baby that is still in NICU – what are all the machines surrounding your baby – the logistics of having a baby in NICU (insurance issues etc) – breastfeeding tips to inspirational quotes – What to do when you finally bring your preemie back home – A glossary about all the medical terms nurses and doctors use – How to cope, how to be a parent – And a success story of course This welcome guide was made from pain, tears, love and joy. Joy of getting to know amazing women that went through **** with me. That helped me grow as a woman, as a wife and as a mother. If I can still call myself that. And love from my caring husband and amazing family. This welcome guide needs to be shared to all the NICU moms you know. Please share the word: you are not alone. I hope My baby Lucia lives within this guide and can help has many moms as she can. With lots of love Sandrine  [url=http://www.nicudubai.wordpress.com'>[b'>www.nicudubai.wordpress.com[/b'>[/url'> Dear Sandrine, I have the utmost admiration and bewildered by the strength you have. You are truly amazing and a dedicated mother. To do what you have with your blog in the memory of your Daughter is amazing. I'm a new Mother to an 8 week old Daughter who was delivered by Csection from her Surrogate mother at 33 weeks. Before we even had a chance to look at her she was rushed straight through to NICU where she remained for two whole days. I didn't have the pregnancy hormones or the pumping to have to deal with, but nevertheless I had extreme anxiety and stress at not being able to see my baby but through two panes of glass. I wish you all the best day to day and know that your strength is a blessing to others that may not have what you have and take comfort whom what you have produced. God bless you and Lucia Maria ??. ?

Agree wholeheartedly with the other Palm Dwellers. I live opposite the new mall site at Oceana and have only noticed a slight increase in traffic congestion at the weekends. Incidentally just near there is a pedestrian crossing and this does impact traffic flow when being utilised. We have always allowed ourselves 25 minutes to go to the crescent from where we are on the Palm, you have to remember just like you many venture out to 'tour' the Palm at the weekends and most just park up and take lots of photos opposite Atlantis;)c and sit on the wall!& We never encounter traffic problems and it's a small price to pay for a Mall on my doorstep so I'm happy as Larry?

Hi little miss, I'm sure I've seen the Stokke at M&P and mothercare in Dubai mall. The flagship stores are often at Dubai mall with the biggest range. Good luck with your purchase! Thanks Duchy, I managed to get the whole range in the colour I wanted at JK? Had a little practice session with the DH at putting it up and down too. Incidentally JK supply to Mothercare and M&P so they informed me. So not likely to be undercut prise wise anywhere else for those that may be interested.

Hi celticavegirl, Wondered if you have the details for the private tailor you use. My husband has some suits that need altering and he's super fussy. I've had a good experience with 800-tailor. And I work in menswear so my standards are high! Now I use a private tailor, who is great, he does the alterations for Prada and Hermes. He will come to your house and do the fittings for your DH as well. If you leave your email address I will send you an email.

So just praying, visualising and keeping calm for the next ten days. I'm literally going into hibernation and I'm so pleased I don't have to do the daily trip to the clinic for progesterone shot. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers ladies and I wish you well in your journeys to be a mummy also :shy::hug:

My mother has always stated that whatever she has will be shared equally between her three children. This has always been the case even when my Sister had gone off the rails. Her Will wouldn't change. As my Mother has a new partner that has dependents I am relieved that this is the case. My Grandfather passed away last Sept and low and behold as organised as he was he hadn't written a Will. Before his body was even cold there were Sons talking about liquadating assets! And my Grandmother is still very much alive. She has only just written her will at my Mothers advice and her estate will be shared 9 ways between 3 generations of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some have gone astray, most have done well and one still lives with her aged 48! edited by LittleMissPerfect on 11/11/2014

I am a little sceptical about considering Thailand due to the legislation following on from Baby Gammy. It will have a knock on effect on India for permissible ivf/surrogacy cases going forward. India is closer so that's always a positive. Is there anyone out there that has visited the Akanksha Clinic in Gujarat?
