This is the law, so they will not tell you otherwise if you ask. However, this far every place was happy to accommodate if you have your own preference. In my case, usually it happens when they tell me that there is no available appointment. Really, noone available all day? I ask surprised. Only male therapist, ma'am. She explains. Ok, book me with male therapist, I really don't mind. Ok Ma'am.

There is no law ..... but why wouldn’t you want to tell them ? Because unfortunately 'some' companies have been known to terminate employment when they've found out a staff member is pregnant. I believe it is not legal to terminate if you gave notice of it officially. If you don’t report it, they may say they terminated you on performance basis, they have not noticed the pregnancy. The law does not say by when the notice should be given, but it mandates maternity leave.

Seasand: if they made it clear at the purchase of the phone that the employee is responsible for the cancellation penalty and they made you sign a paper saying it can be deducted from your last salary, then it is rightful. Companies do it with trainings usually, the company pays, but they expect the employee to stay with their new knowledge. Airlines have expensive bonds for pilots completing aircraft training but considering to leave earlier than agreed. If they did not make you aware of it when asking you if you needed a phone, then it is not rightful. To solve the situation, you may offer that you keep the phone and pay the bills yourself from now on. If they don’t want it, they should not charge you. Hk2017, if you indeed had similar situation, why don’t you write what actually that legal company advised on what you did. The post did not ask for legal service recommendation.

Actually I have not read expatwoman for like a year and today I did cool sculpting and it was on my mind that I should have checked if there were any threads about it.. and here it is. I have some stubborn bumps on my outer tights that do not want to smooth out, I hope coolscupting will help. I am expecting 3-4 sessions. It was absolutely not painful, but a bit boring to lay for 3 hours and try not to move at all. It is quite a pricy procedure, similar range to actual liposuction, but probably less effective, however, not painful and not a surgery.

Thanks. I am aware that it is against the law. What I was trying to ask for is the written legislation (or if not online, then a gynecologist who could show it to me) on single pregnancy. For avoidance of doubt, I am not pregnant, neither planning to get divorced.

Good luck and please let us know if you managed to get a confirmed answer. Today I was asked the same question from an old friend of mine who considers a job in dubai but has never been married and has a 2 year old son through sperm donation. It would be very said if she couldn't sponsor him, but I am not sure if she can.

"Guns do not kill people, only people do" - agree. Teaching kids what guns are and how to use them or live with them is important. I would not tell my son that knives do not exist. I would tell him we use it to cut vegetables and he should not touch it until later, and if he sees guys with knives at a dark street, he should run quick. We grew up in the neighborhood playing with plastic guns but none of us became neither murderers nor army.

If none of the above works, she can tell the tenant it's a criminal offence to bounce a check, which can mean jail time. That's a bit harsh as first action, it can easily happen with anyone that he forgets to transfer founds by date. op: the check needs to be collected at the branch where it was deposited, by you personally. When the tenant confirms the funds, you can deposit the very same check again. There is no bank fee for you. The tenant will be charged by a few hundred dirhams extra for the bounced check, as bank fee. It happened to me personally, on both sides , had my checks bounced and had checks bounced as beneficiary too. (But I am not a criminal, lol)

Once she went through immigration at the airport, she has left the country. That ends any grace period. She will not be able to reenter from the airport without a new valid UAE entry visa. The ex employer will stay with her at the airport until she goes through immigration and will wait until her passport will be stamped. This is because he will only get back the deposit he paid when she leaves the country. Immigration will stamp the passport and the cancellation paper, and give the cancellation paper back to the ex employer. Your "plan" is flawed in many ways. Additionally, I fail to see why sitting in Kish island and waiting 3-4 weeks until you process the visa is better for either her or you than if she waits in the Philippines. Have you calculated with the extra hotel cost? Have you considered what will happen if it turns out that the ex employer put a ban on her visa, and you cannot bring her back here? I suggest you call the employer and talk to them. Many times maids just complain on previous employers to make you feel sorry for them. there is a chance that he will not mind transferring her visa at all, he just wants to make sure she is not staying in the country illegally, as that is a problem for him. In any case - transfer or leaving the country - try not to cut corners, it would cause more headache than good. Good luck.

It is completely illegal for an employer not to provide medical insurance for an employee which is why we have had to buy are own. Our insurance policy was 38K which is not a cheap. Sorry to kill your illusion, but the employer is not legally obliged to provide your husband or you with medical insurance. As Amelia also said, you may confuse it with the health card, which is 300 aed and is processed with your visa. This does not provide you with paid healthcare though.

Yes, you can register for a freelancer visa with knowledge village in media city, or with fujeirah freezone via creative zone. However, it costs about 20-30,000 aed per year if you add everything up, so may not be worth it, unless you want to work here so need registration.

We have recently taken out an insurance policy as the company my husband works for have not provided it. I know it's not legal but we had no option. I spent a lot of time researching as we don't have a huge budge. The policy we have is a 20% co pay. My husband was ill over the weekend and we have discovered that it is for both medicine, consultation and tests with no cap. I was under the impression that there has to be a cap as we could end up having to co pay large sums of money. Does anyone know if an insurance company are allowed to do this in UAE? Thanks "Matheran wrote: We have recently taken out an insurance policy as the company my husband works for have not provided it. I know it's not legal but we had no option." What is not legal ? To take out individual insurance on your own? Or for a company not to pay private insurance after you? Both are legal!! " I spent a lot of time researching as we don't have a huge budge. Thanks" The individual policies are always bad in conditions unless you pay very large amount of money (20,000 +). It is easily possible that you have 20% co-pay with no cap, especially if you bought a cheap one. You should have read the terms and conditions before buying it, and compare with other products. Not sure what makes you think that insurance conditions must comply with some kind of "UAE regulation", it is free market, you get a choice of a wide range of insurance products, some with better conditions, some with bad conditions. Hope you stay healthy.

I subscribed for it about 5 months ago and paying 50 aed/ month. I like glambox and can recommend. I had some useful and nice products and had some useless products. The products probably do not add up to 50 aed each month, but the product cost is not the only factor of my satisfaction. I like the surprise, I like to try products that I would not try or find on my own. I get some that I would not even want to try, like lipstick in weird red color that I would never wear - I gave that to my cleaning lady and she was very happy.

It would be extremely unfair if they allowed the import of FIV+ cats while they do not allow the import of HIV+ humans. If the residency visa medical test for otherwise very capable and lovely people turns out positive, they have 24 hours to leave the country. HIV treatment here is only available to emaratis. Why would FIV treatment be available then? And why would you want to potentially spread FIV by your cat amongst other cats here? The OP keeps her cat inside. FIV is found everywhere around the world, and in other members of the cat family (lions, tigers, cheetahs, etc). There is a lot of information on the Internet, which might be helpful for you to read. Barney is very lucky to have found such a caring family :) NL, HIV+ people also live all over the world, still immigration law bans them. Similarly, law bans FIV+ cats. You may like it or not, but law applies to loving families too.

Check airbnb but not every owner would happily allow a party. It is also a risk on you, what if someone damages something, like breaks window or furniture, and you do not even notice until landlord makes a fuss. If you have such a large circle of friends, can you host / co-host the party at someone else's place? That has a garden or larger living room? (Just a note: I was always intrigued about these baby birthdays. Obviously, a 1 year old will neither remember the venue nor appreciate it. Probably he is much happier without the crowd and loud music and tipsy adults. So probably if we want to be honest, it is not a party for him, but for you. But then why do you call it 1 year bd, can it just be a normal house party ? )

Firstly, he should check the corporate medical insurance their company gave to him, it may be worldwide covering schengen, in which case he only need a copy of the policy certificate. Secondly, if he buys travel insurance but the visa is rejected, the insurance cost can be fully refunded up to 24 hours before starting the planned trip.

I agree the only organization who can help is the husband's company. He must arrange her wife's visa first. Depending on the size of the company, it is likely that they have a corporate medical policy that disregards medical history and preexisting conditions, so after the visa, he should get the wife on his company's medical insurance. The company may not pay for it, but it is a relatively minor expense (2-5,000). The insurance may not pay for every treatment, but at least for some! Better than nothing! He should also talk to his line manager and the manager in charge, and persuade them to talk to hr/ senior management to let him take a special salary advance. With that special loan he can renegotiate with the bank and at least lift the wife's ban. He can also try to write to sheikh Mohammed's office, but only if the story is perfectly straight. I am not sure if he is really so helpless than you may think he is. I never heard of a travel ban. I heard of people not be able to return the UAE if they left behind unpaid debt, but do not know people (especially sick people) who were banned from traveling. And banks cannot just ban someone ( especially not someone who has no residency visa!!!), only court can. Have they had a court case, are they convicted? Is she in prison? Also, the bank cannot disclose picture of him. How did they get a picture of him at first place? Story stinks a bit, sorry....

Company policy cannot overwrite or contradict labour law. Sick leave is well defined in labour law. Keep on questioning him. Procedures should be written and procedures should be transparent.

You pay for the treatment and for the relaxing time. You have all rights to ask her to brush teeth or wash hands, and I would do that with no hesitation. I would even ask for an other therapist if needed. And no, I am not a complainer. But I learnt from experience, I did suffer a few times , wasting money. Last time I had a dentist's assistant at a top rated dubai beach road clinic who had horrible armpit stink. Every time she reached over to help the doctor she had her armpit basically over my mouth, I was about to throw up. Of course my mouth was full of tools and I was trying to cope with it but I was so sick that after a while a told plain and straight that i could not stand it. They brought in an other assistant luckily. Still, I have not been back to that clinic since.

Well, the extremes are the expensive posh hotel iftars and the Muslim awareness cultural tourist Iftar. In between these two extremes, there are the real life iftars, the 45-75-90 aed buffets, that most Arabs do with their friends. You then usually stay over and have shisha and play cards for a few more hours with those friends. You can try the Arabic restaurants in garhoud, like al Hallab or the Jordanian place further down. Even in marina there are a few Egyptian places. Or on sheikh zayed road, Abu Ali for example. Sorry I cannot remember the names properly.

Ok, three branches. Compared to emirates nbd 68. https://www.emiratesnbd.com/en/index.cfm/branches-and-atms/ They also offer free check books and free transfers for premium customers. As I said, the number of actual branches in town may or may not be important, as most of the time you would use Internet banking, but can be a factor to consider. edited by dentro on 08/05/2015

You can rent a car on monthly fees from any car rental places. The cheapest option would be something like a tida or a Yaris for about 1800 aed a month. Larger cars are 2500- 3000 a month. Converting the license takes about 15 minutes.

I used airbnb in many countries, I prefer it even for business trips. It is a great thing! Highly recommend. Read the reviews of the places before booking, good reviews mean you have nothing to be afraid of! I met with many very nice and helpful hosts, as well as I rented whole apartments. Try to find the genuine hosts, not the companies who rent a number of properties but much less caring about your stay than the individual hosts.

Hi angel, sorry to hear that you are getting frustrated. Unfortuntely there are really a lot of people who are looking for admin / pa jobs and it would be physically impossible for the recruiter to meet with every candidate. It could be a full time job for 20 recruiters or so... When we advertise for admin roles we always get hundreds of cvs within hours. Seriously. Companies would not respond unless they are interested. Finding an admin job will take long, just be patient. Wishing you good luck. edited by dentro on 06/05/2015
