Hello! My family hasn't moved to Kuwait yet but will be soon. I'm wondering if there is a legitimate and trustworthy online site to search to purchase expats household items who are leaving. Like a buy and sell website for expats in Kuwait. Thank you in advance. ? Hi rebmemcar, there is a website you can use which has good reviews: https://olx.com.kw/en/items-for-sale/home-garden/search/ HTH EW Emily

Hello, Just moved to Doha a month ago at the start of Ramadan. Now the holly month is over I'm looking to meet some new friends with similar interests. Im Australian, 28, married with no children; and huge on triathlons, Marathons and fun runs and overall people inspiring others to be all they can be. Im a experienced cake decorator and worked in childcare most of my working career. If any like minded people would like to meet up id be happy to, I need some friends here! Im living in the West Bay area. Cheers Samantha Hi MrsHoff11 have you looked at this group based in Doha? https://www.facebook.com/groups/ladieswholunchdoha/?fref=ts They are very friendly. EW Emily is not correct here - she is referring to Al Waab. Wakra is a small town on the outskirts of Doha. I'd happily live there (but I'm perhaps unusual). Historically it's been fairly quiet but there is more development that way. Most people would live there because it's relatively low cost. Dear Ialala, You are correct I was talking about Al Waab, my apologies. KHBK, I hope you now have the information you need from Ialaa and JillMV? HTH EW Emily

Hi Girls, I am moving with my husband and 4 year kid to Qatar. We want to rent a house in wakra (near my husband's workplace). Are there all the commodities to live comfortably or shoudl we live in Doha? Hi KHBK, It is a popular area with families as it is close to Villaggio Mall and Aspire Park and has some schools and nurseries close by. Most compound villas in the area are roughly between 15,000 – 20,000QR PCM with 3/ 4 bed rooms. There does appear to be 3 bed spacious apartments just under 15000QR PCM in that area too, HTH EW Emily

Hi ladies I am (desperately!) in need of a full-time live in. I essentially need a housekeeper (that can cook!). I don't need a nanny. 1. Can anyone recommend a good agency for maid sponsorship? Preferably one that brings in well trained (in housekeeping)? 2. Anyone leaving and their wonderful maid wants to stay? 3. Any advice ? I'm really quite lost on this issue. Hi Bambii, There is advice on this page in answer to some of your questions: http://www.expatwoman.com/qatar/monthly_qatar_faqs_Hiring_A_Maid_In_Doha_9454.aspx HTH EW Emily

Hi there, I have just moved to Muscat. I need some advice and I want to be armed with the facts. I would like to know if it is possible for single ladies to get contraception here, and if so, which forms are available? What about the morning after pill? If I can't get contraceptives / morning after pill in Muscat would it be possible to travel to Dubai or somewhere to get them? Also can anyone recommend a good doctor for expats who is kind / helpful / listens? I have a lot of foot problems so recommendations for a specialist doctor or podiatrist in this area would be much appreciated. Thank you. Hi LOD, In Oman, in order to purchase the CP you need to provide your marriage certificate. For finding a good doctor you should first take a look at your medical provider to check which providers you are covered for. HTH EW Emily

Hi ladies, first time poster here! I'm moving to Myscat in August, has anyone had braces put on there? What was the cost, and the type of braces? I would especially like info on Invisalign braces. Thanks in advance. Hi Fi7082, There are clinics that offer Invisalign braces in Oman. The prices and offers vary from clinic to clinic. It might be a good idea to contact your medical insurance provider in Oman to see what clinics they would recommend. HTH EW Emily.

Dear all, Can anyone give me some advice on opening a bank account for personal use? I am a UK expat living in Hong Kong with a rental agreement. Also would your advice change if I were to open an account for business purposes? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. Hi Iora04, If you already bank with an international provider in the UK you can open a local version of your account in a branch in Hong Kong. If you need to open a new account then most banks will need your proof of address (rental agreement), passport and proof of salary. It is best to check with each bank to see what their requirements are. HTH EW Emily

Hi All, Hoping you can help! I am moving to AD in early September and I will initially be in a hotel before I need to secure a permanent residence. I viewed a couple of properties when I was in AD earlier this year and I loved Saadiyat Island but my only concern is that it will be all young families? I am 31 and I am moving here on my own and I want to make sure I am not isolated and I am around people who are the same position as me also. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :-) Hi mzreynoldz, congratulations on your new move to AD. Do not worry there are single Expats living here as well as couples and young families. Saadiayt Island is a great place to live as its also close to Yas Island. Another place you might want to look is Reem Island or Yas. AD is quite easily to get around and all the locations have their benefits. I'm from San Francisco. I am infertile and we have been trying to conceive for 3 years already. I've heard from a friend that trying various fertility treatments would help a lot with our plans of having a baby. She said that there are IVF and cheap surrogacy in Tabasco Mexico. My question is, should I believe her and travel to Mexico to try it out? Here's the link that she shared http://www.placidway.com/package/1551/Affordable-Surrogacy-in-Mexico-%7C-Surrogate-Mothers-Tabasco/ Thanks in advance for your response. Hi goldiejohnson26, Many people travel abroad to have fertility treatment, not just in North America but in Europe too. IVF is an expensive treatment and it is why people travel to keep cost down. Do not forget that travel can sometimes be expensive too. This is a decision that only you can decided if it is right for you or not. Just make sure you do your research and that you have the right medical insurance. Try and speak to as many people as possible who have had IVF abroad so you know the medical center you chose comes highly recommended. It might be worth checking out the WHO website to learn more about fertility treatments in other countries http://www.who.int/reproductivehealth/about_us/en/ HTH EW Emily

I am a college student moving to Namibia for the summer (arriving June 18). I was given a school fellowship to volunteer in Windhoek. I wanted to reach out for advice about making friends while living alone in Windhoek. I am really nervous about meeting people and would like a safe, supportive network of women. I would love to get in touch with anyone in Windhoek before I arrive. Thanks in advance! Hi Cappymack, I hope you are enjoying your time in Namibia. I'm going to Saudi on business - Jeddah and Riyadh - and I'm not sure my abaya is going to cut it. My current abaya is front fastening black abaya, with buttons only half way down and with pale gold braiding. Is this going to be considered too fashion forward / not conservative enough to comply with Saudi authority requirements? Do I need something plainer, an over the head abaya (or even one of those butterfly shapeless things) to be "modest" enough to meet local authority requirements? I don't want to find myself failing to get through passport control! Your experiences / expertise would be much appreciated.
