Hi ladies,

My fiancé and I are looking to travel to India for 1 week in March, we’ve never been before and we would like a nice romantic destination (I’ve heard a lot of people go there for their honeymoon).

We would like to spend a lot of time relaxing but also a few days sightseeing. We were thinking about spending a day or so in Mumbai to see the Taj Mahal, but we don’t want to spend the whole thing in a city-like location. We would like to see green mountains and lakes, as you can imagine after living in UAE! Lol

Can anyone recommend any places and/or travel agents to use here? I am only familiar with travel agents back home (UK). Or is it better to book things yourself here?

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks!

I Have just moved here from India. We had lots of company, I was lucky to see the Taj Mahal 7 times. For drivers and sometimes hotels, I used Lara at [email protected] Ask her about the areas you want to visit. She always organized good drivers for me. If you go to Kashmir stay at the Oasis Guest House, they will organize a nice trip for you. Rajasthan has wonderful forts, Jaipur, Jodpur, Udaipur. Trip advisor always shows the reviews to help you find information Enjoy

In my opinion you cannot beat a houseboat cruise around the backwaters of Kerala. The scenery is stunning and gives an insight into how people live by the water. The boats are very luxurious with AC available at night, proper beds etc. Each boat has a crew who will do all the cooking etc,

I would suggest taking a train journey together... the Palace on Wheels is highly recommended and you can see a lot of lovely places along your journey...

The Taj Mahal is located in Agra, near New Delhi, and nowhere near Mumbai. It shouldn't take up more than a day out of your week. I have no idea about resort holidays in India. If you're looking for a relaxing resort holiday in a green environment, you'd probably get more options in Sri Lanka.
