If someone is bothering her on her way to work at your house or while she is working in your house by visiting your home. She must inform you so you can call the police even if they are her family members. I'm sure they also know where she lives. She shouldn't be working in fear that someone will show up at your doorstep. If you make her feel the seriousness of her story if it's a lie she will wish she never created that story, especially if she is being questioned by an officer. It all sounds very dodgy, it's best to let her leave if the story isn't proved to be true.

If the post here opened it they would close it back with their sticker. Same if the customs had opened it you would see it sealed back again with their sticker tape. Either way you would be able to clearly see who had opened it.

Umm ayan. Drive around on a Friday morning when there isn't much traffic. Start driving around your house, then slowly venture out further. You will get the hang of it. To the op. Good luck you will pass eventually. Just be patient and don't let anyone make you feel less confident. When I did my test, the girl before me drove up the pavement and crashed into a road sign. So my test was postponed till the afternoon. It was really scary as she pushed the gas pedal instead of the breaks and it was raining!!

I've found a lot of sketchy people selling things on dubbizle. From animals to used furniture. Just be careful and preferably meet the seller in a public place or take a friend to pick up items.

A colleague I worked with years back was recently offered a similar CEO position for a multi national company. The basic salary was very very impressive. But housing, transport and school fees for the 2 children were not included in the package. And only 1 yearly business class ticket back home for the whole family. Comparatively your offer sounds better. The housing allowance you have is very generous. Most likely the job will entail entertaining business associates at home and endless dinner parties. So it is justifiable that they are offering you a high housing allowance. I know alot of westerners with drivers, mostly used for the school runs, evenings out and sent to do the weekly shopping. Might be useful to employ a driver who knows the city till you learn the roads. It's acceptable for your husband to have a driver drop him off and pick up from work too. Most drivers with good English and good knowledge of the roads and safe driving have salaries ranging from 2500-4000 dhs per month. My driver doesn't do much driving, hes live-out and spends most of his day on call. He just pays the bills every month, light shopping when items are missing, few random errands. On fridays he drops the housemaids to church and picks them up in the evening from a mall. Most of his day is spent around the house, cleaning windows, washing the cars, sweeping the entrance of the house, sometimes he even naps. His day off is in the middle of the week, but you can do whatever arrangement suits you.

Take supplements to promote healing of the nerves. I can't remember which ones are best. This must be a horrible feeling to have, I hope it gets better. Nerve damage usually takes months to heal. I have some nerve damage in another area and the dr informed me that I will probably never get the sensation back. It always feels numb and if I squeeze the area I feel an electric jiggle inside.

My best friend was a member of a parent teacher association. It was an unpaid job and I can tell you as a close friend of hers that she had no time to see her friends during the school year. She was always busy planning some event for the children, decorating or sourcing items for events, attending meetings, fundraising, the list goes on. This was all besides the usual get the kids ready for school, after school activities and homework. She did seem to enjoy it and it made her happy.

Putting two small mattresses rather than one king sized would really depend a lot on how your bed frame and support is. I have no idea who delivers in one day, unless you take a display piece home with u. In that case you might need to find a man with a truck if it doesn't fit in your car. I'm not sure but ikea might be an option if you pay for one of the men with a truck standing in the delivery area to follow you home with the mattress. You just have to make sure that the mattress you want is in stock so they don't tell you to come back. In regards to bedding try marks and Spencer's or debenhams they have nice cotton sheets.

Your best option is to find one from the classifieds, and ask her to provide you with a reference or tell her you would like to have a chat with her previous employer. This way you can get a better idea about the quality of her work and the reasons she has decided to change jobs. Often they are looking for higher salaries or more benefits, or want to move from another emirate to dubai to be closer to their friends and relatives.

hi, been here a long time and over the years received really poor advice, from someone who we now know not to have actually any qualiifcations and was just a good sales man! has any one had a similar situation and taken action? or is it a lost hope.... Financial advisors mostly are sales people unfortunately. They receive training on the products available and try to sell their financial instruments. They are not like doctors who need to get a licence to practice. Sorry you had to find this out the hard way.

Believe me, children miss absolutely nothing by having their week shortened. I used to be a teacher and on Thursdays we would just do things like decorate the classroom, watch a movie (an educational one, of course!), and do some gardening. Yes, first three hours would still be language arts and math, but nothing would really happen in the afternoon, anyway. For many parents, in fact, it was sort of a free baby-sitting service. I honestly do not understand why are some parents so upset that their children get to spend a few more hours at home. It's not about children spending more time at home, Berberis. It's about a significant portion of weekly hours being cut. School time is measured in contact hours (not days!), so by shaving off 2 hours of teaching time on Thursdays, the school is effectively cutting out almost 10% of the total time spent in class during a week. Curricula are designed around a specific number of hours so I don't understand how a school can cut 2 hours per week (which works out to almost 80 hours per academic year on average) without this having an impact on learning. Maybe it doesn't make too much of a difference to the little ones who spend most of their time learning through play, but it does make a huge difference to older kids. Imagine what you can learn in an 80 hour course! You could easily master the basics of a new language! I am shocked that KHDA and the Ministry of Education would allow schools to do this, knowing well that contact hours are one of the main indicators used for assessing learning outcomes (along with marks/grades). Schools need to make provisions for their teacher training outside regular school hours. There are lunch breaks, all teachers have free hours/periods during the day and there's always online learning so there's plenty of time for their professional development. If my child's 80 hours are being used to train his teachers, I for one would like to see the benefits of this expansive training programme! Hi, I am a teacher and I understand your concern about hours being cut. However, we finish at 1pm on a Thursday and always have done and we only miss 55 mins of teaching on that day compared to any other day. We start teaching at 7.55 and end at 3pm and that is a long teaching day compared to other countries where you might start teaching at 8.30/9am and then finish at 330pm. I have only worked at one school in the UAE but I can categorically tell you it is the same as any other teaching day of the week apart from the fact we are looking forward to the weekend! However, I do think the parents vastly underestimate the job of the teacher and to suggest that teacher training can occur inside the school day at lunch or a free period really annoys me. Firstly not all teachers have a free lesson at the same time so you can't do training with everyone. Secondly, our lunch is 35 mins long which is just enough time to eat or maybe provide a quick club to students. I have meetings after school 3 days a week and some of that does involve training but usually involves strategic planning. In a school day the average teacher might have 1 hour of "free" time. They will arrive at work at 7am ad prepare for the day. They will then have tutor time for 20 mins before launching into a day of teaching. At lunch they will quickly grab lunch and eat for 10 mins. They will have at least 2 duties per week where they have to patrol the school monitoring behaviour. If they are lucky they have another 5 mins before registration and teaching again. Then they will have an hour meeting after school to discuss new policies or that time might be given for data entry/analysis. Usually at this time of year there is a parents evening once every 2 weeks where they will have to stay work until 6pm. Then they will have their marking to do. Imagine a teacher teachers 9 different classes they may have over 100 exercise books to mark which need detailed comments in them. Every six weeks there will be a formal assessment and twice every 6 weeks the books will need to be marked. It will take at least 3 hours to mark a set of 30 exercise books. In addition to this, depending on their job title they will receive at least 20 emails per day sometimes reaching as many as 80, and these will have to replied to within 24 hours otherwise parents will complain. Then they have to deal with young people all day which I am sure most will agree is both rewarding but also challenging and exhausting. I do understand parental complaints especially when they pay so much money, they do deserve a quality education. The vast majority of teachers love their jobs and time manage like there is no tomorrow and we learn to deal with the work load. We enjoy living in Dubai but it is not easy here, bringing it's own challenges in a way that we don't expect in our own country. On top of this we don't earn very much money. Yes we have the holidays but quite frankly this is not even relevant. I have done 2 online courses in the last 5 months and both of them required at least 6 hours of online interaction per week. This is on top of the above. And on top of potentially having your own family, husband, life, friends etc. We are expected to constantly innovate, share resources and improve. In any normal industry you could take time away from your computer to do this. We cannot take time away from the children, so it has to be done when they are not there. Wow you must work in a very big school. It seems like a heavy workload. I always used to see the teachers in my school in the teachers lounge having a cup of tea, gossiping about the students, they had too much free time. When I was a trainee I used to have to do training courses in my weekend. So I was literally at work 7 days a week. On top of that I was in the process of getting my certifications so I didn't have alot of free time either. How long is your training? Surely when teacher training is over they will not make the school day longer again?

My child's dubai school just sent notice they will shorten the school day permanently on Thursdays for all grade levels, to dismissal at 12:10 pm instead of 2:30 pm ! That means almost 2.5 hours shaved off each week = 10 hours less per month! The reason stated was for teacher training, but I am shocked the KHDA would approve this??? Shouldn't teacher training be done after school or on special teach work days? Is this normal??? I have to agree teacher training should be scheduled after lesson time, either before or after school or during teachers free time in the school day. Not have a day shortened to accommodate for that. I find it nice to have a shorter Thursday. It gives the students more time to socialise and do other activities. The idea itself is nice, but the reasoning behind it is wrong.

For the people who took offense of my post, I don't care how many containers they use for food packaging. I meant to say it's dangerous to serve hot food in plastic containers as it causes cancer. Serving hot food in plastic isn't as dangerous as microwaving plastic. Everything is dangerous nowadays if you follow every warning/guideline you won't be left with much to eat. Have you tried taking your food bowl and just handing it to the take away when ordering? Most of the time they are happy to serve it in your bowl. Sometimes they may say their portion is smaller so it won't fill your bowl.

I pulled out a bundle of old plastic bags that had been in a cupboard for some time (years?!). I was surprised one of them fell apart immediately - all black bits over the floor - I think it was a M & S bag ( which are green). Also I took from this pile a "paid for" Carrfour large bag with me to Carrfour and that also started to fall apart too! By the way - don't buy a certain kind of smoked salmon there - i think it is possibly made locally ( Salmon Fishing in Yemen?) and will spoil your dinner party! Most of the plastic bags from supermarkets are biodegradable. Leave them for a month in a hot car and they start falling apart, almost like a powder. I usually send my plastic bags for recycling.

If her current employer refused to sell her contract to someone else, there is little she can do until her contract finishes, other than quitting her job and most likely being sent back to her country. There is a recent trend where housemaids working in homes want to work for cleaning companies as they have more freedom to go out in the evenings, socialise with each other, fixed working hours. It seems like no one is happy with their job. Has she reported her mol card lost to the metro station? Maybe there is something they can do to recover it for her.

It sounds like OP is having troubles because she has no savings or disposable income of her own. Often when using husbands bank cards they get text messages where and how much you spent or took from the ATM which can be problematic for some people. A lot of people I know have taken time off work from their normal jobs to work at gitex, that might be an option to earn some quick cash. All I can say is that in every culture cheating is wrong, but there are many unfaithful men who do this. He is likely to be upset that you caught him cheating rather than upset that he cheated. You are still young so you need to really think about what you want for yourself in the future. If you travel back to europe, you may be alone, but you will know who your true friends are. True friends don't forget about you in the difficult times. And if you are indeed totally alone, it is possible to build yourself up again. Most people started from zero at some point in their lives. If you decide to stay here, it might be best to find your own job, so you have your own income as a safety net. You should save your own income and not spend it to improve your husbands lifestyle. Be true to yourself and stand up for what you believe is right.

I also want to build one. I would love to have an outside pool lounge or room for the driver should he need to rest or take a nap while on duty (now he sits in our kitchen when he is on call). I was recently quoted 100,000 dhs by one company whereas the estimate I got a few years back was 15,000 dhs (however I couldn't build as they had stopped giving permits at that time). Frazzled what price range did you pay? And how big is it?

You won't get an exact match, even of it is the same colour the one on the house will be a little faded and dust would have slightly changed the colour. The original colour will appear brighter and darker when painted. I'd just go with whatever sample looks most similar to the way the ain't looks now. Good luck.
