He used to pop every now and again where I worked a few years ago. First time I was so engrossed in what I was doing I didn't see him standing at the end of my cubicle, gave me an absolute fright. Then I had no idea of what I was supposed to say or do, did I have to curtesy or how to acknowledge him respectfully. The girls I worked with were in hysterics as I just went pale and said g'day. Absolutely mortified!

I'm not an expert but had a friend move from Brisbane to Auckland a few years ago and the pricing was comparable to Sydney! It's apparently a fairly expensive city to live and property prices are expensive. But you get clean air and seasons, very cold in winter. Good luck

We came from Brisbane with 20kgs, in addition to our luggage and we have been able to buy pretty much everything we need, including a Tempur bed. We have one in storage at home. I did bring with me sheets and towels, Sheridan and Country Road. I haven't been able to find anything that is comparable to Sheridan in thread count and towels I have managed to source some decent ones but I paid a fortune for them. All of the appliances I have managed to get here. But you will find that the water here is really hard on your steam iron. I am on my second one in 3 years. The must haves that I always buy when I am home is Maggi powdered chicken stock, those kitchen brushes with the sponge on the end and 12 months supply of the little sponges. Beef oxo cubes, for some reason they have vanished off the shelves here. DH buys bonds undies and singlets for under his business suits. Vanilla extract, the real stuff!

I think you have to use common sense based on where you are going and the time of year (ie: Ramadan) on what you should wear. At brunches or hotels it's not unusual to see greyhound dresses (an inch away from the hare) or lots or cleavage along with more conservative and also local dress, which can be stunning. It really comes down to whether or not you are comfortable with what you're wearing, if your outfit is revealing you will get looks or sideways glances with nods of disapproval. You will see some sights at the mall! And the shops do sell revealing clothes, they follow the current fashions, at the moment off the shoulder Bardot tops are really in and they are everywhere in the shops. I have worn them to the malls and don't feel uncomfortable. Don't stress over it, wear whatever makes you feel fabulous and happy.

We have lived in GM for the last 6 years and the apartment is great, it's large, has a fantastic walk in robe and huge master bathroom with the convenience of the shops in the galleria and the park area a bonus. We know just about all the children in our building and have met some great people in our building. The park between GM and Shoreline is great, lots of places for kids to play and we walk our dog morning, afternoon and evening and there is a real community feel, it's one of the reasons we stay in the apartment despite the noise. There are downsides though, we are in a D type unit (2bed) and we and everyone in our building with the same apartment type have AC issues which the owners association should repair but they aren't, although it's manageable even in the heat. The noise from the construction is LOUD and noisy all day and night but we have managed through it for the last two years and we have an end in sight. The developer has taken over as the building manager from IFA and the standard of the cleaning and overall maintenance is pretty poor, but again it's liveable. If you go for an apartment facing the road the balcony can be really noisy but you get use to it but park facing ones are much quieter. There is going to be a significant increase in traffic though, with buildings being completed, such as the hotels on the trunk and crescent and also the shopping centre on the trunk, this I am not looking forward too as the noise from the boy racers will be bad along with the extra cars. Regardless, we will stay in our apartment and deal with the changes because it's home and we have a great and settled life.

Please do your research on ultherapy, particularly on realself.com or google reviews on Ultheraphy. After doing a load of research on it, I decided against it. If you do decide to go ahead please use a good plastic surgeon.

Was recommended to me for really dry skin as well. Ego - who manufactures this has said it is available in Dubai but I cannot find a pharmacy here that stocks it. If anyone knows where I can get this and it has to be the intensive range, which looks similar to the normal range please let me know.

Thanks CP, its been a lovely day. After 7 years in the sandpit, I love any change in the weather and will be out with my dog jumping merrily in the puddles/ponds,rugged up in my woollies and wearing my boots (which are still as new as the day i bought them), loving the novelty of an overcast, dreary day. As much as this discussion might seem frivilous to some, its a change in the norm, it impacts just about all facets of our daily routines here but I love seeing the kids out playing in the rain and people discussing it. Our neighbours all talk about the impact, how lovely it is that the rain washes away the dust off the leaves and we have green! What roads are closed, what areas flooded, what the RTA signs say about the ponds you have to be aware of, if schools have sent students home early or are closed, cloud seeding, airport delays, how the desert will turn green over the next few days and wadi's will run with water. It brings us together as a community.

You might need to do some research into banned dog breeds in Dubai as I just did a quick google and it says Sharpei's are banned. So you might need the vets at your end and the documentation to say a red heeler cross/mix.

There is no postal service, like at home. They dont deliver to your street/home address. You need either a PO Box or have everything delivered to your work or your husbands. I get many deliveries done through Shop and Ship, particularly for online shopping.

Jaffas and Violet Crumbles...I would seriously leave work right now to go and buy these! (doing a little happy dance in anticipation) I havent seen four and twenty's at Spinneys for a while but there is another aussie brand of pies there but they arent as good. And thats saying something as the four and twenty is only ever good at the footy or from 7 eleven in the middle of the night. Try Waitrose at Al Thanya Street, they usually have some and also banger rolls. Tim Tams are also a good option.

It's nearly 2 years since my laser surgery with Dr Sobeh and I am very happy with the outcome from my surgery. I found the whole process to be good, from the initial appointment through to follow up after surgery. Dr S explained everything and that's exactly how it happened. My main concern was whether there would be permanent nerve damage at the surgery site and although it is a little numb sometimes it isn't an issue. I did have mega brushing after the surgery but it was explained I would. I had my surgery about a month after a colleague who went with another surgeon and his bruising was much worse then mine. If you search the forum for varicose veins or for Dr Sobeh there are quite a few reviews.

I can understand your fear and frustrations, I thought I was raving mad when the shocks and tingling were happening and I said nothing to anyone in case they thought I was a lunatic. I think it's the fear of not knowing if you will get the feeling back and why did you have to have the op. You just need to be patient and that in itself can be a challenge! ? ETA because of my stupid auto correct came up with a random crazy word!

I also had nerve damage in my ankle following surgery and it took about 3 months before the tingling stopped then every now and again when I was walking I would feel a little electric shock and afterwards I felt like I had more sensation back in the area. After about 6 months it no longer felt strange, or I just got used to it and after about 12 months it felt normal, although to touch it now there is still a little numbness but nothing like initially. Maybe you still have a little swelling and trauma at the site and your body is working to get the nerves back. I know initially I thought I couldnt handle the tingling and it would drive me crazy but our bodies are amazing machines and their ability to heal is astounding. Hope you see more improvement over the coming weeks.

Use your shop and ship address in the shipping details and not billing as the payment won't go through. If you aren't sure what the SNS address is, there is a tab on your SNS account on the website with all your international addresses. You will be given a number that is specific to your account which will look like DXB 123123 and this needs to be included in the address, otherwise they can't allocate the parcel to you. For example the NY address wil be primus9 DXB 123123, street addy, suburb, NY postcode. If you are using a UAE credit card your billing address is the one registered to the card. Essentially you have two different addresses on the Amazon account, one shipping and one billing.

Go and see Momentum at the difc they stock lots of pre loved watches, if they don't do repairs I am sure they would recommend someone who can competently repair your watch. And I totally agree about the incompetence of some of the retailers here, also get in touch with Tag directly not the franchise here, they can give you more advice as well. Or you can ask for your watch to be sent to Tag for a quote. I never get repairs or services here I ask for the goods to be sent to the manufacturer. I had a new handbag that needed repairs and when I purchased it they said it would be sent to Italy for any repairs as that was company policy, low and behold when I took it to the outlet here they said it would be fixed in two days with their repairer from Karama. I asked if they would send it to Italy and was told flat out no, so I contacted the company and the regional manager for said company rang in a few days and said it would be sent to Italy. It took a couple of months but I got confirmation when it arrived and when it was returned. Do get in touch with Tag I am sure they value their brand enough to give you more advice.

I agree Jan is hot and humid! And as Basil said it is also peak season. I would recommend Queensland for a first time visit with children, unless there are specific things you want to see in Sydney and already had an idea of what you wanted to see. I like Sydney but Melbourne and Qld would be my destinations of choice. For accommodation there are a plethora of international hotel brands along with some great serviced apartments. DH and I stayed at a Peppers Resort in Surfers Paradise last year and it was horrifically expensive, for a 2 bed apartment it was nearly $800 per night, but it was over the christmas break. Mantra Group also have great serviced apartments but I would do some research on them as some are not in the most fantastic locations and can be noisy. TripAdvisor is your friend with accommodation. I will also caveat that I previously worked for the company that owned Mantra, so I am a little biased. Both Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach are good for families, I couldnt believe how much surfers paradise had changed over the years and it is buzzing now. There is also a metro/light rail that runs in between the two suburbs. The Gold Coast will offer beaches, nightlife, shopping although not on the magnitude of Dubai Mall, great food places all along the coast. There is Movieworld, Dreamworld, Seaworld and Wet and Wild, all will be fairly packed seeing as its school holidays but if you get on line you can book a package which can include transfers from your hotel/apartment to the theme park. Fleays Wildlife Park at Currumbin is also good and a great old institution on the Coast. If you are there long enough you can drive up to the Sunshine Coast which is about 3 hours from the Gold Coast (Noosa, Maroochydore, Moloolaba) and the Australia Zoo is up there. Brisbane is lovely but its not a holiday destination and people get out of the city and to the beaches on the weekends. Traffic can be heavy both north and south, pretty much like SZR on a weekday but the driving isnt as crazy! Hope this has given you some ideas.

Absolutely think about it but never would, there are too many idiots on the road who dont have their children restrained. Imagine what would happen if they actually hit the back of my car. During the day I will turn my lights off and on if someone is too close to me, some really dont know the difference between a break light and lights. Regardless, I am never usually hassled by these dopes because i move over after overtaking. The ones that get up my goat are those numpties that think there is no need to move over after they have overtaken and seem to think they own the lane they are in. All it says to me is that they are completely uneducated and ignorant. I am also partial to waving my pinkie at them when they go by at speed... I cant give you costs for Canada but DH and I have allocated AED 20k for returning our boys back to Australia, but we have boarding costs at the other end for quaratine. It will also depend on whether you do the paperwork yourself or get a professional pet relocation company to do it. We had friends who have used Snoopy Pets and were very helpful with the relocation. Alternatively you can get on to facebook and check with the doggie communities here and see if they can give you some recommendations or guidelines. Dogs in Dubai is a good place to start.
