Hi I really would appreciate some advice and someone to talk to about moving to Hong Kong. My husband is currently a headteacher in England but he has always wanted to work and move abroad, particularly HK. His best friend worked there for many years. We have thought about it several times and he has applied twice but something has always stood in our way. We have a ten year old daughter who is in year 5 and I work part time as a photography teacher in an independent boarding school, we also have 2 dogs. My husband doesn't want to look back in years to come and regret not working abroad but I have some doubts and I am not sure I could let our dogs go. My mum is also on her own now and I know she would find it very difficult. She was the reason why we didn't go last time. Part of me thinks it would be a great thing for our family but I am not used to a big city and have never lived anywhere other than the area we are in now. If anyone could offer some advice or help it would be great. I haven't got anyone else to talk to.

I lived in HK for a couple of years when I was a child. My mum didn't like it so much, but we did! I think she didn't like it as most of the expat woman didn't work but that's all different now. I was 10 and my sister must have been round 5. I only have great memories looking back. (It was in the 90's) Can you not bring your dogs with you? I am sure lots of families move pets abroad. Good luck with it, It will be an adventure if you go and its not forever!
