Either she finishes her contract with you or you send her home with a one-year ban. She can't just quit like that.... Hey Anon , thanks for your reply ... but is a ban possible ? I heard it cud be lifted off easily these days as well . as much as I don't want to be harsh but her behaviour lately has hit my nerve ! Yes, a ban is possible. If it's lifted, there is not much that you can do about that.

Yes, online education degrees are accepted here but not all of them. You need to go to the website of the Ministry of Higher Education to find out which institutes are recognized.

The Etihad Mall in Muhaisnah has a shop that sells wigs. They are super expensive, though, like a few thousand dirhams for a wig.

You can also buy wigs at the Lulu Hypermarket but they are very cheap quality.

Yes, I have had this feeling several times before. You are not alone. The good news is that once your child passes the assessment, things generally get better.

Something similar has happened to me a few times when ordering from Papa John's and talabat.com. I get to the end of the order, after putting in my online password. Then a screen comes up saying error. Then I receive an SMS saying that I have been charged for the food. Then when I call them up, they have no record of my order. This has made me very angry! So they just charge you for food that they never deliver!

And not to scare you or put you off, I know quite a few women here in Dubai whose epidurals have failed recently. Perhaps it's the type of medicine they're using or something but it's becoming quite common. Yes, I am one of those women. My fourth child's birth was expected to be calm and painless with the help of an epidural. Instead, I was staring at the ceiling screaming "God help me!" lol

The procedure in this country is that the nurse follows you to the cashier to make sure that you pay. If the nurse doesn't follow you, then that means you owe nothing. It seems that you went to pay which probably confused the cashier. Next time, if there is no nurse watching you, just leave. They know who should pay and who shouldn't.

I used to have to pay a co-pay. The amount was written on the card. Next to that was something along the lines of "No charge for follow-up within 10 days". Is that not written on your card?

My suggestion is to plan for about half of the people you invite to come. Don't worry about there not being enough children. If there are only 10 attendees, that is enough to make the party feel busy...

This is what I thought but I could be wrong. Men wear white because that color has something to do with feeling cooler. Women wear black because it is an Iranian tradition. They didn't use to wear black and I am basing that statement on my visit to the Dubai Museum where you can see pictures of local women some 50 years ago wearing colorful clothing....

RIDE in Mirdif have a small repair counter an should be able to help you. And possibly cheaper. Where is RIDE? In the Mirdif City Centre or the Uptown Mirdif mall? I would also like to know.

Well people, i finally moved to Dubai 20 days ago and i have to tell you it is the worst mistake i ever made. Two days i was here and i found out that my husband had been cheating on me with loads of girls from this city. I have to go outside covered in an abaya and headscarf and im basically his maid. I never saw this coming as he was always a very westernised man. I have thought about going back home, but as i dont have any family or other type of social savety net there, i guess im stuck here for a while. Wow! I didn't expect that. Why do you have to wear an abaya and headscarf? Just don't get pregnant. Then you are free to leave him at any time.

Yes, my daughter did it in 2012 at Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital in Healthcare City. I seem to recall their telling us the same thing. The blood had to be sent to France. I think we paid a co-pay of a few hundred dirhams and our insurance covered the rest. We saw Dr. Pierre Majdalani who did all the paperwork.

So in that case, wouldn't it be better to have them repeat? That will boost their confidence. You worry about the stigma associated with repeating but there is also a stigma associated with always being the "kid who can't do it". If they repeat or are demoted now, their peers will soon forget about it and they will make new friends.

It is also much easier to graduate from high school in the USA. You can graduate with all Ds! To my knowledge, there are only two real American high schools in Dubai.

Yes, you are right, loving the sun. There is actually no American curriculum per se. By American curriculum here, they basically mean that they will use American words, the grading system, and similar year groups, etc.

I am sorry. I actually don't have any examples of the American curriculum. Your girls should probably be in a lower year group. Would you consider having them repeat or demoting them rather than changing schools?

Firstly, why are your children the youngest? In the UK curriculum, September-born children are the oldest. I am American and would eventually like to put my children in an American-curriculum school. It starts a year later, which would mean that if your girls finish Year 3, they would go to Grade 3. Personally, I find the UK curriculum too advanced and I prefer the American one. However, eventually, things tend to even out and many American and British schools here change to IB for secondary.

I feel for you; Al Nahda isn't exactly an expat area and I guess it's difficult to settle. Try to rent a room somewhere like JLT or Tecom that is close to a metro station and not far from the beach. You can find or advertise flat share on Dubizzle or Facebook groups, maybe propertyfinder as well. What are you trying to infer here? Al Nahda is made up of mainly expats.... Ok maybe the wordings weren't right, as 90 % of the population here are expats, but some people here actually try to help instead of jumping on threads nit picking words ....I just don't think it's a desirable location for a single female relying on public transport and struggling to find things to do. Your last sentence is a better descriptive. I thought that you may be trying to infer something else....

You can transfer a maximum of 25,000 miles in one calendar year. The cost to do this $25 per 1000 miles so can work out expensive. It is easier to buy a ticket in someone else's name using your own miles. Is there no charge for that?
