Actually I just googled and check out this.. www.losapos.com/starwarstunisia the person out the whole itinerary there from start to finish.. no need for car in Tunis.. you have to go on a plane to ...
This is great info. I think I may still fly into Tunis and drive from Tunis to Djerba - even though it's quite long. Could be interesting to drive through the country. Do you guys think this is safe? I'll definitely contact Camel Car.

I go to En Vogue. They have a few branches. I go to the JBR branch (in the JBR Double Tree), but I believe they have a JLT branch as well. Everyone is good there. You can also buy packages that will save you money in the long run if you go back repeatedly.

When someone delivers food to your apartment, how many of you tip them? If so, how much do you tip?

Haha, Rescue11. This was a good read. But no one on the thread was able to answer if you are supposed to spray from the front (and under) or just straight from the back! I wanna know if I'm doing it correctly! Haha :) Anyone? Anyone?

I am American, I live in Dubai, and am visiting Kuwait in a few weeks. I will be staying with a Kuwaiti friend of a friend. What is an appropriate thank you gift for someone that hosts you? Normally, at home, I might bring a bottle of wine, but that's obviously inappropriate. What might be an equivalent to that kind of thank you gesture?

I teach at an american international school, so I can speak on what my school does with regards to fulfilling government requirements, but I can't promise that your school is doing the same or even if one school is doing it more correctly than the other. The other posters are correct: There are two sections of Islamic studies (again, unrelated to Arabic classes, which is completely separate): An Islamic studies class taught in Arabic and an Islamic studies class taught in English. My non-Muslim students do not attend the Islamic class. I keep them in the classroom with me, and we do separate activities. So, essentially, during that Islamic period, my students are in three separate places: islamic taught in arabic, islamic taught in english, or with me not being taught islamic studies. It is very likely though that because dad is documented as being Muslim, the government automatically enrolled your child in Islamic studies. I hear it can be difficult to say you want to opt out of Islamic studies if a child is "Muslim" on paper.

Hello WizzyD, Not a fellow american here but hope I can be of help with this information. I have very little information about Iran but recently have been following a travel blog by 2 backpackers... one an american woman and a norwegian man ( I believe they are not married) who are currently traveling through Asia. They went to Iran and then entered Pakistan and have documented everything in their blog. I think they are currently in Uzbekistan but they do interact quite alot with the followers. Maybe you can look up some info there and ask them. Also another backpacker from the Uk who travelled extensively in Iran and is currently in travelling in Pakistan. Both blogs speak highly of Iran and even more so about Pakistan ( im biased :P) The blog names are Lost with purpose ( instagram and facebook) The other one is The Broke Backpacker HTH Thanks, lilypad! (Pakistan is on the list, too, so I'll check them out!) :)

Hello, fellow Americans! I really want to take a trip to Iran. Can anyone provide insight into how we can visit/get in? -How do you obtain a visa? (I read you have to contact the Pakistani embassy in Washington, and then the visa is only good for maybe three months). But can anyone give more specifics or give info on how easy this is? -Are there guided tours or tour groups that go? -Advice on what to do or see? -Is it safe for Americans, considering the political tension between the two countries? -Can I go with a female friend, or should I go with a male? OK if me and the male are just friends and not married? -I read you maybe have to enter through Kish island, but I don't understand why or how this works. -Is there any chance of the UAE having issue with me traveling to Iran and not allowing me to reenter? Answers to ANY of these questions would be appreciated! Thank you!

My DD does, she's better if she sits in the front. It's mostly the jerky stop/start when in high traffic volume on SZR etc. I've been told not to sit in front of a taxi though as a woman. Something about it seems as though you are hitting on the driver. Is it true? Also, as a side note, I keep seeing DD and DH on this forum. What do they mean?

Hi! Try posting a thread under a Qatar forum instead of Dubai. People in Qatar may be able to give better advice than here.

I've just moved to Dubai, and at home I used to order everything online from Amazon...everything! - toothpaste, deodorant, any generic item. Is there any kind of online one-stop-shop like an Amazon, meaning I can just buy anything and everything that I might need from one site? Or do you know if Amazon even ships to Dubai? I realize there are options like Shipito or MyBox, etc. to go around the issue. But I don't want to have to wait the amount of time that might take. (As I said, I'm new, so I don't know exactly how long it would take to ship from the fake US address, but I imagine it is longer than the two days that Amazon Prime promises.) Any thoughts?

How many times can I use a loofah for a Moroccan bath at the spa? I'm asking because I bought a loofah for my first Moroccan bath at the spa. When I returned for the second bath, I brought the same loofah, and they told me it was "no good". Generally, how many uses can you get out of the loofahs? They are probably trying to use you. I am not sure how long they last but definitely more than once! That was my thought, too. :) Just wanted to check the number of times other people use them, so I at least know what I'm talking about! :)

I have a prepaid SIM card with Du. I first bought one with Etisalat in the airport once I arrived. It did not work. I went to the store in Mall of Emirates the next day, and I was disappointed with their customer service - the way I was treated and the lack of offering a solution to my problem. I left and bought a SIM card with Du immediately afterwards. Friends have all suggested that du has better customer service and is generally the better brand. I am happy with Du's service and ease of use.

What is your advice on the best stores for buying make up in Dubai? I want to buy something nicer than, say, make up at Carrefour but don't want to spend as much as I would spend at, say, Sephora. I am looking for products like Naked, Lorac, or Smashbox. At home in the US, I would buy these products at stores like Ulta. Any recommendations for comparable shops or shops that would carry these brands?

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense. Everyone is so helpful, but it's leading to more questions. :) Can I get a better deal if I don't buy a SIM card at the airport, or does it not really matter? Where else can you buy SIM cards in Dubai?

Awesome. Did you buy the pre-paid one at the airport? If so, which company, how much are they, and how long do they last?

What have you all done as expats for your phone plan? I am trying to figure out arrangements for my cell phone after I move to Dubai. I have an iPhone 6se. My plan is to get a new SIM card when I arrive. My job said you can buy them at the airport. I think this allows me to have a pre-paid phone plan. Meaning, I think I pay upfront for the card and then use the minutes or data as it's allotted for that card. Then, after I get my residence visa, I can get a post-paid/monthly/"normal" kind of bill. Does this sound like the best plan to you? If you can shed any other light on the phone situation, that would be appreciated.
