Hello ladies, We are looking to move from a flat to a villa. Does anyone have recommendations for a mover that’s reliable for local moves in Dubai. We used Santa Fe to move to Dubai from the US and...
We used Tawam movers through servicemarket.ae. The service was good, all our items arrived safe, they even did the installation works as well. The quote was cheap, we also got a complimentary cleaning after moving :) totally happy.

You may contact Mr. Helvis on 055-7461641 for good quality material (international as well as local market products), installation etc. Or even he may be able to advise on the trends for free.

I had sent my DD to Creative Kids Early Leaning Centre, Business Bay last year, at the age of 3. For FS1 program I was paying on a monthly basis, AED 2,100 for 5 days a week (for morning program)

Good day dears ... Please can anyone recommend a good and reasonable nursery who offers Summer Camp in JLT area (preferably closer to the metro station)? I would need day care facility as well, as I'm a working mom. My daughter's nanny is going on a vacation for 1 n a half months from mid of July :( TIA Ammu

I would wait for another couple of years before deciding to change jobs... you see for the first couple of years in school the children finish wayyyy earlier than rest of school so even if you do end up working in the school your timings will be substantially different to hers at least until she enters Grade 1. Make a list of what food she normally eats and send in only that... my eldest survived a whole year of school only eating jam sandwiches... and my middle one is currently on an 'idli' craving and only wants that for brekkie and lunch... so don't stress too much and just go with the flow... at this age it really is more important that they just eat something... you can always ensure that the dinner meal (where you are present) is more nutritious etc. What you suggested is right... I hope by the time her school starts I will be done with thinking and worrying :)

presuming she's going to be around 3.5yrs old when she starts school and normally schools in Dubai have one or two snack breaks during the school day... ideally you should just send in food that she likes and that is heavy enough to sustain her till she reaches either the nanny's home or the babysitter's home... children also love snacks so maybe pack smaller snacks and a variety so that she can pick and choose (and perhaps even nibble some on the way on the bus) snacks that work well in our household include the following: - fruit cut up in different shapes (cookie cutters are great for this) - cheese sticks - pretzels - crackers - hard cheese (like cheddar cubes) - yoghurt pods - beef jerkey - dried fruit - mini sandwich rolls - raisins - oat bars the above items are super easy (as they're all readily available to buy and is great for working parents with minimal time to cook)... you could always send in a hot lunch too which your child could have during the longer break at school... something like fried rice or pasta or pie or curry... we send food in these tiny thermos jars called Funtainers which keep the food nice and warm in time for lunch and we rarely get any food back home do things to make your life easier and the transition to school easy... plan meals with your child... let them decide what they'd like as a special treat on each day... let them help you pack their lunch boxes (teaches them independence too!) Thanks alot for the ideas, dear?? these are very easy as you said, to arrange... only problem is, my daughty is a picky eater. Now on I will try planning her own lunch with her n see how it goes! She will be 4 by the time she starts schooling. I am even thinking to change my job... thought of trying in schools/ colleges so that I can keep time in line with hers. Hoping for the best! Regards Ammu

And also friends... please tell me approx how many dirty diapers should be seen a day for a 5 months old? With my DD I find 6-7 a day.. Is that normal? And the stool is still loose. Should I make a follow up visit to her doc?

Thank you all for your kind words.. DD is doing fine now, doc said that the test report revealed a bacterial infection; Thank God it is not something serious as a surgical kind of condition. He told me to wait for few days and to check her stool everytime, unless blood with mucus is again found it should go off by itself and no medication is needed for now. Luckily I did not find anything again till now. I gave her the prescribed colic drops for only 2 days, did not continue further though the doc had written to give her for 5 days as she normally doesnt have colic pains (she had colics until around 1 & half months old and we never gave her medications for the same as per the advise from the neonatologist) And the sore on her tounge: we doubt she must have hit her face while playing. We could also find a specific area of her lower lip has become dark, we could not notice this as she didnt cry, nor showed any problem in sucking while feeding. Both the marks are gone now. Once again Thanks to you all.. :)

The cravings /appearance/ way of carrying have nothing to do with the gender of the baby....I had entirely different cravings in my 3 trimesters.. Ppl used to say that I'm carrying a boy seeing the black color on my neck and swollen nose... I was all swollen n had a big tummy.. some even predicted that I would need a c-section assuming that my baby would be very big.. My hubby is a suspense lover and never allowed me to check with the doc, but predicted without doubt that we re having a baby girl.. I had a normal delivery n I gave birth to my sweet li'l girl who is now 3 nd half months! she was neither big nor small asppl assumed.. she was 3.125 kg :)

Hey Momz... I bought a bottle (Woodwards, UK made) from som supermarket in AUH, when my 2 month old baby (now shez 3nd half months) got extremely fussy when we visited our relatives there... we gave her a dose of the same, but had no result, she continued to cry throughout the night. The next day we came back and shown her to a ped in Sharjah, he said not to give gripewater and advised me to give her Himalaya Bonnisan 3 times... you know it really works!!! I

BUt how do I moisturize when the skin is dry/ not damp..? I use sebamed bubblebath to bathe her.. itz said to be soap free... but the idea of bathing her once in thrice day or in a week sounds really good :D n convenient.. Twice a day? Isn't it too much? Do you use soap everytime? If you do, avoid soap atleast because it can really dry your babys skin out. I bathe my baby thrice weekly and top and tail every night. I moisturise her twice and whenever I feel her skin is drying out. I think massages(gentle strokes) are meant to soothe babies and not irritate them. So I will avoid it if baby hates it.

Thank you kiwispiers....my hubby too tried to bottlefeed her (I had to hide from her sight until she finished eating lol), she took 2-3 times then stopped... now gonna try feedin her wid nipplesheilds as mssassy suggested.. Please,, please please IGNORE the well meaning but very stupid advice you are getting from family. It has been proven that giving a 3 month old solids will increase their risk of nutritional deficiency, gut infection (which could leave to hospitalisation) and allergies. I have no idea what they mean by "won't have time to train" your baby later. You do not have to "train" a baby to take solids, once a baby is developmentally ready (which is usually around 6 months) then you just give them food and they eat it. At best you will waste time and effort trying to give solids now, at worst you will physically HARM your baby by doing so. These guidelines are there for a reason, in the past this information wasn't known and sure many babies were fed this way and survived, many mothers also smoked and drank during their pregnancies and gave birth to seemingly healthy babies, but I wouldn't use that as a reason to ignore what we now know. Politely but firmly tell your family that you will not be giving solids of any kind until your baby is 6 months. As for not taking a bottle, the advice you have below sounds good, also maybe have somebody other than you offering the bottle. Your baby knows you have boobs, why would she drink from a bottle instead.

Dont know.. in their opinion we should give water to the baby from day 1, and the babies past 3 months are ready for solids.. this made me double minded ..Anyways I even dont want to discuss the same with my ped.. I'm now concerned about her feeding options.. Itz not due to her difficulties with cold... she stopped taking bottle as well as spoon feed one fine afternoon!!! Once I took her out to book for her vaccinations for the following week, I fed her with bottled formula, she even took the feed in cab while returning from the hosp... she stopped the same in the very afternoon... she cries when I try to feed her.. even my hubby tried to bottlefeed, she took it for 2-3 times, then stopped... Now I will start with nipple shield as u suggested :) Did you discuss this with your pediatrician? Well, breastfeeding is the best for babies till six months, if not formula. No water and no solids till then. I don't think any pediatrician will say that introducing solids for a 3 month old is good. I don't know on what basis your family is suggesting this. In your other post you have mentioned your baby is having cold. Is that why shes having these difficulties? Try breastfeeding her with a nipple shield for few days and then try pumped breast milk in bottle.

Yes.. I too thought of avoiding the medicaction to the max.. and tat's the reason I kept quiet.. but since last night she's having a tough time.. so I'll better take her to doc.. I don't think you should bathe your baby is she has a cold.. that can actually worsen it.. just take her to the peds to see if alls good.. then just let it subside on its own and just keep cleaning her nose with nasal spray for babies.. if it's nothing serious (hopefully not) i don't suggest giving medicine for no reason so that she can build her own immune system.

I actually bathe her twice a day... Once in the morning after an oil massage, the latter at night before going to sleep..And I massage her with body milk after each bath..My baby loves to bath in warm water, but she hates massage!! But these days I bathe her only once- at night before sleep..But can I ask you If I make it once in two days how do I moisturise her twice a day as you said..? Is it ok to apply the cream/ lotion on the skin without washing..? Because I usually apply them when the skin is bit damp.. Babies don't even need to be bathed everyday. Not that its bad, some babies love to be in warm water. But bathing everyday removes the natural oil that protects their skin. Bathing twice or thrice weekly is more than enough especially for dry Dubai climate and till your baby starts crawling and get dirty. Why do you want to force your DD to get a massage if she doesn't like it? Many babies here have dry skin and eczema. Do moisturise her twice everyday. If you still want to force your baby to get an oil massage, try Jojoba oil after bath.

Hi Sarahlou, Thanks for the reply.. I'm planning to take her to the ped today.. I tried cleaning her nose with nasal aspirator, but dint work out.. And... Itz an Indian tradition to oil massage the baby everyday before bath- actually right from the day the baby comes home from the hospital after the birth.. My baby hates oil massage but I do it out of the concern of dryness. And eversince she's got colds I stopped oiling, instead I'm massaging her after bath with sebamed body milk... but still she hates when it comes to massage her tummy and upwards.. Dont know why!!! Hello Mums.. My 3 months old baby girl is suferring from bad cold, esp during the night time. Her nose gets congested and shez not able to sleep at all.. finds it hard to take feed too. I really dont know whatz to be done... should I take her to doc or is there any home remedy for cold...? Pls. help... I'm a new Mum :) Also please let me know if it is ok to give her oil massage before bath when she has colds..? I'm kinda scared and itz been around 2 weeks since I stopped oiling her, I'm concerned as I think babies do need oil massage esp in winter. Appreciating your advice.. Regards Ammu edited by ammu07elvis on 19/11/2013 I would try saline nasal drops. I think they can be used in babies and will provide relief, you can buy them from most pharmacies. I think Panadol liquid can be administered with a syringe if she has a slight temperature May I ask why you think oil massages are needed? ( As I have never heard of this)

Hi mssassy, Thank you for your advice.. I tried cleaning her nose with nasal aspirator, but it dint work out.. Visibly she doznt have running nose, when she lies on her tummy the mucus comes out sometimes.. but she doznt allow me to clean.. either with the aspirator or with tissue.. Yes, I'll take her to her ped today. I do have fentisil which her doc prescribed earlier, but I'll better show her first. She'z so irritated n I sooo want to do something to ease!!! And yes.. Hi ammu07elvis. My DD caught a bad cold when she was around three months. I didn't try any home remedy and ran to the Doc ASAP because I know for babies cold can easily turn into croup or pneumonia. Please dont wait and show a pediatrician ASAP especially if baby is not feeding properly. If its a mild one they might ask you to do steam inhalation while feeding and give you fenistil drops for easing irritation. Isn't it heartbreaking to see your little one suffering? About oil massage - it is good for babies but who said its a must? And its always better to do it after bath as per my pediatrician since vice versa can lead to rashes, increased dryness etc. And use an oil that will be absorbed properly into the skin preferably a non greasy one. Also I'll not oil massage my baby if shes having cold or fever. edited by ammu07elvis on 19/11/2013
