Hi there.. I saw your post and wanted to contact you as I have posted an ad for our nanny who has to leave us unfortunately due to our move... I am posting my ad below.. if you are interested kindly contact me and we can talk in detail.. "It is with heavy heart that I post this ad about our live in nanny (kenyan national). She has been with us for 3 years, she is just like any other family member to us. She joined us in Dubai when my daughter was 5 months old who is now 3.5 yrs and my second one (son) is now 22 months old. She is very good at all domestic work, very hardworking (would never cheat), extremely loving and patient with kids, v polite. We moved from Dubai to Turkey 2 yrs ago and we brought her along. Reason we have to let go is that we are moving to Germany now because of my husband's job and there is no way a non eu citizen is granted a nanny/domestic helper visa for germany. We tried all possible legal ways .. Our family is very devastated that she has to go and the least I can do is to find her an equally good home to continue working, as she is very ambitious about her kids studies, they are in good schools back in kenya, she is a widow, 35 years old and would want to see her kids have a better future. She is available once we move to Germany which would roughly be between end july to mid august. Her visa here in Turkey also expires end august so anyone interested in hiring her in UAE can sponsor her from then onwards. Her preference is to work in UAE than Turkey, one reason she will miss us here, other equally important ones are the language barrier here. She knows Dubai very well as a city, has some support system there in terms of church friends and she is a very good practicing Christian. She speaks exceptionally good english and is a very pleasant person to be around. If there was anyway we could manage to get her a visa I would have never let her go, my kids adore her. I guess enough said ... if you need any further details you can post back here" Good luck with your nanny search Hi njj, sorry to change the subject but apparently private messaging is not available. Can I contact you re the move to Istanbul? We are moving to Istanbul soon, most probably to Gokturk area. Thank you.

Guess I got you earlier than usual njj :) Tarabya is a very nice place, hope you enjoy it. Sorry that I don't know any maids who can work for you:( As I've always worked with locals. Try the agencies but still can't name any. Happy for you that you're expecting number 2:) My gynae was in Acibadem too. His name is Ibrahim Bildirici. He's very famous with his easing style and gave birth to the babies of a lot of my friends + some celebrities in Turkey too. Must go places: Gazebo Restaurant : one of my favs, dinner, afternoon tea Nusret: Best steakhouse in town, expensive but an experience Iskele Bebek: Fish Restaurant, fancy and touristic fish restaurant Revma: Where we always go, fish restaurant Incirli Saraphane: Vine House, just perfect Su Ada: Pick one of the restaurants, it is a good experience specially for dinner Kosebasi: The most known kebab restaurant, won't cost you a fortune, pick the one at Levent Lokma: Breakfast is very very important in Turkey, don't miss this one. Big Chef's Tarabya: International cusine, good for casual eating outs. Make sure that you've reservation for all of these. For grocery use MacroCenter. It is like Waitrose of Turkey. For food color, I've no idea, sorry for that. For online shopping: We used to use DHL for shipping. And Amazon also has shipping operations for some items. You can also try local online stores I'll give you the most reliable ones: Markafoni.com (the best) Morhipo.com trendyol.com Lidyana.com For home related shopping: evmanya.com nuev.com altincicadde.com perabulvari.com Online shopping is better than here in Dubai. Hands on shopping: Clothing: Vakko, Beymen, Network, Yargici, Hotic, Matras, Mavi Jeans are some of my favs. -You can find them all in Istinye Park Mall. Mudo is fair enough, too. Home: Pasabahce -the best for glassware-, Madame Coco, English Home, Linens I used a lot Furniture: Yatas, Koleksiyon, Lazzoni, Mudo Concept -Mudo has a huge store in Maslak, very close to you- we used a lot! In case you see any of these brands in one of the online shopping stores that I mentioned above, you can go for them. Jewellery: Atelye79 , ask for Eleni she is my friend and tell her about me, she will take care of you very well. Fruits and Vegetables: Just go to the closest bazaar:) don't buy it from super markets. Hope that helps. Love xN edited by xN on 06/04/2015 Hi xN! I am also looking for you :) Moving to Gokturk soon! how can I get in touch? Thank you!

Hi Njj, I've just moved to Dubai from Istanbul and I can answer what ever you are wondering about Turkey. Sorry for my late reply, I've been a bit busy with move in operations here:) Cost of living: Depends on what you are looking for ofcourse. For the prices that you're giving as an annually rent here you can buy an appartment in Turkey:) We're also LL in Istanbul, we kept our life sytle here similiar to Istanbul, the rent we're paying here is triple more for our appartment in Istanbul. Rents:You are paying the rents monthly. Petrol: Petrol is 3 times expensive in Turkey comparing to Dubai. Schools: Depends on where you wanna live. We have good international schools in Turkey too but very few. General shopping: %10 cheaper than Dubai Cars: 2-3 times expensive than Dubai. Housemaids: My friends started to get ladies from Phlipines as well, it is possible and more or less the same price here in Dubai. I would recommend you to proceed like this other wise it will be hard for you to communicate with your helper as they are really local people. Living location suggestion: Depends on where you work, it is really really important! We used to live in Gokturk, and we loved it! Security: Not as secure as Dubai, but again depends on where you live. Actually we can set everything up together if we can meet. I'm a regular of EW Emirates Golf Club meetings, even I'll be there this evening and tomorrow morning. Ask me to Helga as xN:) she knows me:) Istanbul is a really unique city, now I thought about my past life and felt how much I missed it. I do really enjoy living here in Dubai, but Istanbul, is another thing. Hope you'll have that much great time there and understand what I mean.. edited by xN on 15/10/2014 Hi xN! I've read here that you lived in Gokturk, in Istanbul. I am moving to Istanbul in a couple of months and I would appreciate any piece of advice about Gokturk, best communities in Gokturk, real estate agents, etc.
