Hi ladies, I am currently living in Dubai. Have been here over 4 years now and really enjoy life here. My husband has been offered a job in Doha and we are considering packing up and moving. So many questions so apologies in advance but would be so grateful for some feedback! I was just wondering what Doha life is like. We are both in our 40's and no children. I will not be working so was wondering how easy it is to make friends / meet people when I don't have kids and am not working? I have found this I have found very difficult in previous locations! Also, what is there to do in the evenings/night as a couple? Are there nice bars and restaurants? Where are the best places to live? I would like to have a look at available accommodation before I arrive!! Thanks in advance ladies! :)bye: Hi. We are considering moving from Abu Dhabi and wondered if you had made the move from Dubai yet? We are in a similar position to you in terms of circumstances and would be grateful to know how you got on meeting people etc. Thank you.

Hi All, My husband has an offer from Doha, Qatar and we are trying to decide to accept it or not. Both of us are working in Dubai and have 2 kids (1.5 yrs and 4.5yrs). Few questions below: 1. Is it correct that it will take 6 months to get family visa? So if my husband relocates in Nov-2017, by when can we all move? 2. My son goes to Indian CBSE curriculum school. Are admissions an issue there? Can we seek admission easily once RP is processed for us? 3. How's the job market? I am into IT field...would I find a job there? 4. What is considered as a good salary there? Reasonable amount to have a comfortable life without cutting cost all the time. 5. What is the salary to be paid to part time and full time maids? Is it tough to sponsor them? 6. Any other challenges faced by people residing there? We are leading a comfortable and happy life. Not under any financial stress to change job. We plan to move as this would be a good career move. Kindly help us in making this crucial decision. Thanks in Advance :) Deepti I would be interested in similar information too please as considering a move with Husbands work from Abu Dhabi to Doha. Has anyone already made the move directly from the UAE? Thank you.

Thank you LaVie08. Does any one know any other places within Amaya Towers or can comment on the standards in the building in terms of maintenance, cleaning etc? Thanks

I am not sure if you have moved yet but if you have not, I would start with looking at your husband's work place and work back from there. If he's prepared to drive for 20 minutes for example, work back from his workplace for 20 minutes. Then it depends if you want a villa or an apartment and also your budget. Everyone is different so its best to decide on your priorities first. You will find somewhere you love but it takes some time. Good luck.

Hi, I've here in Al Reem for a bit and haven't found any coffee morning here either. However I do occasionally meet up for drinks at Marina Square with one of the other girls I know here. You can come join us! Thank you Fikiwiki That would be great. Let me know next time you plan to go.

Hi I suggest the best place would be Al Reem. Or you could try the Tourist Club Area, Mina or Al Markaziyah.

Hi all. I'm from the States and moving with with husband in late April. Can anyone help me with some topics as I see varying answers on research pages: What is a good neighborhood to move into? What is a reliable used furniture business? We are bringing our two Pomeranian pups, any info on dogs, vets, etc? Better to rent or buy car? Medical care as I have a chronic illness that has flared recently? Medicine restrictions if you have to be on a daily dosing regimens? Any sage advice you can give us regarding anything and all in Abu Dhabi? What was your move experience like...the dos/ Bank suggestions? Any business or anything else to avoid? Are expats treated nicely? Any customs of the culture than the ones of normal? Thank you in advance for helping me out as jumping back and forth on decision....some research showed concerns of night life. I'm very excited but scared. Looking for new friends and eager to attend any women's groups etc . Hi New Girl I arrived in Abu Dhabi only last week with my husband so probably not the best person to answer your questions right now, but will answer what I can. There are lots of good neighbourhoods but it depends on where you or husband work and if you want to be close or not. Medical care I understand to be of a very high standard generally. Medical insurance often comes within the job benefits. Quite reasonable to rent cars here. It's a very safe place to be and I have no issues walking around alone or getting taxis etc, and have only been here 7 days. Lots of paperwork for everything when you first arrive which takes quite alot of time. Happy to meet up for a coffee when you arrive if it helps. By then I might be able to help a little more! Jane

Hi I am due to arrive in Abu Dhabi in March with my husband. I would like to attend the coffee mornings to meet other ladies there. Has anyone found these mornings helpful to meet new friends and to gain useful information? Looking forward to meeting some ladies then.
