Hi, everyone.

I have vaginismus and it is causing trouble in my marriage. My husband and I have been trying to have sex for 4 months and it seems impossible. I experience very severe pain and he says that it feels like there is some kind of wall that does not let him enter. I read that dilators can help to overcome vaginismus. I noticed that I can order them from websites like desertcart and amazon. I am worried that dilators may be illegal in UAE and cause trouble if I order them. Can I order them or is it illegal. Did anyone order dilators before and how did it go? I would really appreciate your help.

Thank you very much.

Hi, I also had the same issue. So what I had to do is wait until I was able to travel generally for a holiday. Then I got it shipped to my hotel, and then I brought it with me to dubai in my luggage. I was extremely worried they’d confiscate it and it would be embarrassing at the airport but nothing happened!

We visited the gynecologist at American Hospital in Oud Metha. Just being cautious and not mentioning any name here.

Thanks Nicks. So it turns out that I can’t see a physiotherapist directly unless I’m recommended one by a gynecologist or if I’m paying for the physiotherapist’s session in full. Another hurdle is that Mediclinic health care city isn’t part of my insurance coverage. The thing is I’m trying to avoid visiting any doctor unless they come recommended as my visit to al zahra about this issue was futile given that they diagnosed me with vaginismus and gave me a cream to fix it - which by now we all know doesn’t nip the problem. Can you recommend the gynecologist who treated your wife? My situation is further complicated by the fact that I’m unmarried so from a legal standpoint I’m not allowed to ‘fix’ my problem. Oh well!

Hi, this might help. So my wife was diagnosed with the same issue and our doctor advised to use dilators to treat vaginismus. Luckily for us, she wrote the same in the medical report and also issued a formal letter addressed ‘to whom so it may concern’, stating that ‘’my wife’ is under her care and as part of her treatment she advises to use dilators to treat Vaginismus. As they are not available in the local pharmacies, I have advised her to get them from overseas. Should there be any further queries, you can get in touch with me (contact details of the gynecologist). I then bought them on Amazon US and got it shipped through Shop&Ship (Aramex). Once it reached their US office, they contacted me stating that its on hold for 21 days as it’s prohibited to import in UAE and they categorized it as Adult Material. I replied to their email, sharing the Amazon invoice along with the report and the letter (highlighting the relevant text). Within a few days it got cleared under ‘Health/Medical Supplies’ and reached us like two days back. This all happened over last two weeks and that’s it.

Hey there, put "mediclinic city hospital women's health physiotherapy" in the google search bar and it should take you to the right person :) hope this helps!
Thanks Meeny. Sorry I’m asking because they have over 20 physiotherapists and I want to ensure I’m reaching out to the right one. Vaginismus is a debilitating condition and most medical professionals are still pretty clueless about it. I was diagnosed by another doctor and was given pills and a cream which didn’t help at all. From what I’ve read, pelvic floor therapy and dialators help Which no one has offered me yet so I’m hoping she does.

Thanks for the confirmation. Yes I don’t understand the rules either. I literally asked my last doctor if it’s even legal to discuss an issue of this nature and she laughed it off. Anyway I’ve edited my previous comment. Appreciate your help!

Yes I did see her and it was 100% worth it. When she got recommended to me through another doctor, it was all very hush hush. Would you be ok to edit your comment so her name isn't shown just to be on the safe side? What a shame there's no private DM feature on this site. All the best!

Thank you so much for your reply. Sadly, I wasn’t able to find a way to get them :(
Probably a late response as well, but try vaginismus.com. And add a note to your order that the product name on the label needs to be changed, otherwise it will be misunderstood by customs and will not go through. Also tell them if not delivered, can they please allow for refund.

Maybe there’s a way to get them from gynecologists.. have you tried that way? Before I start trying that way
I asked a few gynecologists about this but all of them refused to even consider it. They didn’t tell me if it was illegal or not. They just kept changing the topic and didn’t discuss anything regarding the dilators. I’m not sure if it was just them or there is an actual ban on dilators. I think it’s worth to try it with your gynecologist and see what she has to say about it. Please keep me updated on how it goes :)

I tried ordering it online and It was thrown by dubai customs but the website was kind enough to give me a refund. I’m having the same issues, were you able to find a way to get them ?
