Advice for divorced older professional woman about where to live/support networks
Dear forum:
I am a divorced academic in her 50s moving to Dubai by myself soon. I know that what we read on line can be stereotypical and misleading. But as I read about how expats in Dubai tend to be either families or young singles, I worry about (1) where to live, and also that I will find it hard to find other middle-aged professional single/divorced women - I'm not looking for dates! I just mean finding a support network of older professional women on their own in similar situations, and being able to socialize with older people (not young singles and the party scene - please forgive me if I sound offensive!). I would welcome your insights!
Also, as I am also looking at apartments - I can't live in a high rise, and I will need a home office as well as a guest room, as my sisters and female friends will likely come to visit me. And I can't tell if single people are allowed to rent in "family buildings." I am looking at areas like Mirdif, Warsan, and Remraam, and would like to know if single people can rent larger (not just studios or one-bedroom) apartments without difficulty.
Thank you for any advice!
