Eye Test Requirement for a Driver's License in Sharjah

I want to get my driver's license in Sharjah but I have low vision in my left eye (amblyopia) and glasses won't help, with vision in my right eye being perfect. I have been living overseas for a number of years, so my US license is expired, but I have a current driver's license from Egypt. I have never been turned down for a license in my life, but recently went to the eye doctor and asked him if he could issue me a letter saying my vision is good enough to drive, like they do in the US but he told me Sharjah is strict with vision requirements. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
