Try looking in Bousher and Muna. It's a newer developing area and modern housing.

Many thanks. I have been in muscat all week and looked at many properties. Some have been really awful (Omani landlords really have to get there act together!) some of the accomodation should be condemned! The wave and muscat hills do seem to have nicer quality accomodation, however the drive for us is just too far. Will keep looking!

Hi there! I have been in Muscat since November. I was living close to the Wave and my kids school is close to Qurum. My husband had to leave our place at 630am to get the kids to school by 8am. It would take him and hour and in some morning 75 minutes total. It got really tiring. I love the Wave area since it is right at the beach but the drive was not worth it to us. I currently live just 10 minutes drive to the kids school and right off of the Expressway. I was fortunate and found [b'>Lena from Betterhomes[/b'>. She was active and attentive to finding me a place. She always was punctual and remained in contact with me. I recommend her highly. We did not pay any fees to her or to Betterhomes. Their fees are paid by the landlord. She was professional and pleasant to be with. Here is her number: [b'>968-921-90-709[/b'>. Tell her that she was recommended by Joanna. I noticed too during my search for semi-villas that they do go fast. But there is so much building going on now that something always comes up. Best of luck!

That is really kind, thank you. There does seem to be a bit of a race to get small villas at the moment. Each one that is advertised on the Internet seems to have gone by the time my husband calls. If you can recommend any estate agents that would be great.

Thank you DesertRose1958! Think that could put him off, what a shame as it looks an ideal place to live. Its a nice place to live so please don't be put off by the journey time. Everyone has to do it and though the actual time you would have to leave looks really scary - don't forget the working and school day starts much earlier here. If you let me know what you, as a women, fancy accommodation wise I'll look online for you and make some suggestions. I wouldn't encourage apartment living however unless it was on the Wave or perhaps Muscat hills.

If you are in your car and ready to go by 6.25 am you should be able to do it in 45 mins max by going down the Beach Road then picking up the Highway further down. But leave it a few minutes later and it will take far longer. Also, do not attempt the highway from the big traffic lights up from The Wave - always go down the Beach Rd.

Looking at the wave as a place to live. I am currently in the uk and my husband is currently in Muscat looking at accomodation. How long would it take in the mornings to do the school run to the british school from the wave? Any help would be great. Thanks
