Hello ladies,

I am not sure if anyone is facing the same problem as mine, but I am desperate to get some answers apart from those Omani ladies in my office.

My employment contract basically says nothing other than my pay and colleagues advised we will follow all of the Omani Employment Law. I was supposed to be here in early June but I only came one month later because they could not get my visa sorted out.

I have some appointments done in just after mid September back at home country and the manager who employs me is fully aware of this before he employs me. He is happy to approve my leave for 2 weeks. However, the Omani girls in the office won't approve my leave (it has to go through them somehow) as they said my leave entitlement by that time is less than 2 weeks.

I remembered Omani Employment Law mentions we have 30 days of annual leave. Anyone know if this indicates 30 working days or just 30 days (including weekends)?

I do not know how they come out with this calculation, they told me we are entitled for 1.8 day per month so by the end of September, I only have 5.4 days of leave to apply. I have made the commitment that I will not visit home until next February and I would be in touch for any work issues when I am back at home country. They are yet to give me the approval.

Soooooo my question is if the 30 annual leave mentioned in Omani Law are working days which excludes weekends?

My appointments are scheduled 2 weeks before Eid Al-Adha so I cannot actually utilise the public holidays to cover this issue. I would hope to be away for 3 weeks including the public holidays though!

Note: I really hope the Omanis could be more considerate to ladies who are working away from home :( edited by ctpy19 on 25/07/2014
