I would do it the other way around . Apply for schools then try to live close to the school ( if possible ) . School places in top schools for preschool age are hard to come by so my advice would be to apply to several schools ( even ones not in the desired geographical area ) and see where you are offered places .
My 2 cents . But of course up to you how you want to proceed .

Hi ladies. We're moving to Doha from Dubai in Jan. We like the area of the Pearl. Have a 2 year old who'll be starting school when we move. Any recommendations for good schools near the Pearl or West Bay (hubby's office is there)?? We've been recommended Doha College. What other options are available??
