We recently stayed in the Fairmont which is attached to the Swissotel and opposite the Raffles. Absolutely loved it. It is walking distance to 2 MRT stations and 2 malls very close by. If you like markets, then Bugis street was around 15 minutes walk from the hotel. Not to far from the hotel was the Singapore Museum - again walking distance. Marina Bay Sands - well worth the visit. Just go to the bar at the top but book in advance. Restaurant is expensive but if you want to then it is a nice place to visit. Gardens By the Bay Sentosa Island - by train it took us around 40 minutes. Singapore Flyer is also nice if you want to get an aerial view of the city. We did Gardens By the bay in the day, went across the road to the mall which is the marina bay sands mall and then to the hotel for drinks. then walked over to the singapore flyer which was a 15 minute easy walk from the mall. May be too hectic to fit with the kids in one day. Enjoy Hope you enjoy.

I also recommend the Gardens by the Bay show at night. There is lots to do on Sentosa Island, apart from Universal Studios, so you can pick what suits your family best. My kids loved the insect and butterfly park there. You can also take a cable car from Mt. Faber to Sentosa Island - lovely views. Have fun! Singapore is a lovely holiday destination :) edited by carymama on 03/03/2015

I like to recommend W Hotel Singapore and Park Royal on Pickering (the most beautiful hotel we stayed in SG so far). We also tried the Marina Bay Sands Hotel but rooms, by Dubai standards, is so plain, however the views of the city skyline and the infinity pool is gorgeous to try. I recommend also to check the River Safari and the Gardens by the Bay show at night.

So I will add the night zoo to my list. Is that part of the regular zoo or something different? I am very much looking forward to the trip. It is somewhere I always wanted to go. The night zoo is the same zoo, just at night. You go on a tram and it takes you through the park. It was amazing to see the animals at night...they were so active. Definitely a unique experience we've never had at a zoo. Enjoy!

We stayed on Sentosa Island where Universal Studios is located. It was just like being at Disney World. There is so much to do for kids within 5-10 minutes walking distance of our hotel. We only had to drive once in the 5 days that we wer ethere and that was a trip to the Night Zoo. In addition to Universal Studios there are great places to eat, a water park, an aquarium, an open area where there are water fountains kids were running across/playing in, a small butterfly park, and much more that we didn't have time to see. There was not a moment we didn't have something to do, it was brilliant. Love Singapore!

I have just booked the Westin with a last night at the Raffles. Has anyone done Universal Studios if so how many days for it? I was thinking two days. Any other advice are most appreciated. One full day is perfect for Universal Studios. We reached there at 10am ( I think that's when it opens) and stayed until late evening. You can buy tickets online in advance to avoid lining up :)
