If you suspect that you are pregnant in Azerbaijan there are many options with regards to hospitals and doctors. Azerbaijan has government hospitals and care units that will provide ante natal care and delivery. Most private medical insurance schemes will cover maternity, make sure that you are familiar with these when purchasing medical cover, especially if you are planning a family.

If you suspect that you are pregnant, a medical doctor or gynecologist should confirm your suspicions with an examination. The first thing that you should do upon confirmation is contact your insurance provider who will issue you a list of doctors that you can see. Secondly, if you are employed you need a letter from the doctor confirming your pregnancy in order to receive the maternity benefits from your place of work.

When going for your checks and scans ensure that you make it quite clear if you do not wish to know the child’s gender. Gender is important in Azerbaijan and parents are often eager to learn the gender of their child early on.

Birth by caesarian section is common in Azerbaijan and only specialist hospitals will do a natural birth. However all hospitals will provide the necessary medication for the mother and the baby while they are in the hospital’s care.

Once the mother is lose to het due date she should have all the documents prepared before she goes into the hospital. This will ensure that all the necessary certificates and documents are issued without any problems.
