May the Fourth Be with You!

May 4th is Star Wars Day all over the world. What better way to celebrate than indulge in an all out bakefest with fellow Star Wars fans? Munch on delightful sugar cookies while on a Star Wars movie marathon or give them away to fellow geeks.

We have rounded up our favorite Star Wars recipes from food bloggers who have creatively whipped up tasty treats. These cookies are too cute to eat, don't say we didn't warn you!

Basic Sugar Cookie Recipe

You will need:
1 1/2 sticks butter (room temperature)
1 egg (room temperature)
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt

For the icing, you will need:
3 egg whites (at room temperature)
4 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar (I didn't sift it first)
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
Pinch of salt
A few drops of vanilla extract

Now for the best part... Decorating!

For sugar cookie icing and decorating inspiration, these foodie bloggers can serve as inspiration for your Star Wars tasty treats! Our favorites are the Star Wars cookies with common cookie cutters. Otherwise you can find or order Star Wars themed cookie cutters online.
